  1. Metal, Monstercat, Tom Waits. Good mix.
  2. Could I borrow someone's Monkey? Mine's defective. I've gone to Field and Stream three times now and all I have purchased is a fishing license.
  3. If you're throwing aerodynamic, well-casting baits that weigh over 1/2 oz (lipless, walking baits with a weight transfer, etc), you'll get more distance with the 201E. Below that, the 51E keeps up.
  4. Looks like they changed it back on that website. Earlier in the day it said year round in red text.
  5. Ah, crap. I thought I had two more weeks to get ready!
  6. Team Lites are sexy, and this is coming from a guy with multiple high end Daiwas and Shims. You'll be happy with that combo.
  7. Do they have the Loomis E6X 847 CBR at Cabelas?
  8. A 5" Super Fluke and hook should be about 5/16 oz. This is certainly doable on casting gear. I'd be looking at a Medium power with a quality reel and about 10 lb line. I throw SK Caffeine Shads because they weigh a bit more and the tail doesn't get screwed-up.
  9. Yeah, if you can't feel mono stretch on a hookset, I don't know what to tell you.
  10. Yep, much better. Nice for other things, too.
  11. Fan out or thin your weedguards.
  12. I want to put one on a swim jig.
  13. Yeah I really liked the build and feel of mine other than the tip (it also ended up at THUT). I'll probably try the 7'4" H Frogging rod at some point this summer.
  14. I did the same thing. There's nothing about the Megatop part on the Daiwa website. Someone said they like the rod for small Keitechs and such but most people have been in agreement with 21farms.
  15. The rod has a solid section of graphite attached to the blank under that extra-large wrap you're noticing. The tip is extremely flexible but the joint can be fragile. TT did a review of the Steez Megatop casting rod and that's a good place to look (the Tatula is basically the same setup). I had one and got rid of it; the tip overloaded easily and made accurate casting a pain. If you drop " Tatula finesse rod " into Google, you'll find a lot of first hand reports on the rod.
  16. I use the ML *** so I can't say too much about the Recons, but I would lean towards the 683. You're at or around 1/4 oz with most of those baits.
  17. That casting rod has the solid graphite megatop tip. Be careful with it.
  18. For another fun and expensive option, Duo lipless kill it in grass.
  19. Well now I want to try a #7 Shad Rap on my Flat Side Special.
  20. Probably ok with the DTs. The Scatters might be problematic.
  21. I might give it a go. My girlfriend devours Netflix shows at an unreasonable pace so we're often looking for something new. The last thing I saw on Netflix that I really liked was Broadchurch. If you like crime dramas it's worth a shot.
  22. Yeah the catch and delayed release thing for tournament anglers made me hesitant. Moving catch and immediate release up to April 1 would be cool. Year round would also be neat but as you said, icy.
