  1. KVD finesse worm in Blue Fleck paired with however much tungsten necessary to hold bottom.
  2. Braid is cool (usually) unless it's a honeycomb spool.
  3. Left hand reels for topwater are a great idea.
  4. Funny you mention that. I just lost a bright orange tape measure! On topic, rods and reels matching is not always under my control. However, rod socks must match. No exceptions.
  5. It's never too cold for a lipless crankbait.
  6. Got a 15 lb Boga Grip and some Owner trebles. Came real close to getting a MB Vibration-X Ultra. Maybe next time.
  7. 36" is a good start. Adjust longer or shorter according to your personal preference. I use a lot of 10 lb Red Label as leader material as it is cheap and doesn't suck.
  8. That'll do, pig. That'll do.
  9. Wacky Senko under a float, as illustrated by Crestliner2008 in the Smallmouth forum.
  10. 10 or 12 lb Siege. It runs a little thick diameter-wise, so that would explain your issues with the 20 lb. At $7-8 for 300 yards, the price is right.
  11. Hooray fish! I posted my report from Saturday in the Fishing Reports section. Went out again yesterday, landed five and lost two. Lunker, find green grass on Kent and you'll find some fish.
  12. Yep, very tanky. Throw in a $10 Carbontex drag upgrade and you're good to go. Also, rod socks and neoprene reel covers are cheap and go a long way towards protecting your gear while beating those banks.
  13. I think active bass don't care. Neutral or negative bass might care. In pressured, clear water I'm throwing a leader. Otherwise, probably not.
  14. I wouldn't frog or punch with mono. I'm on the fence about ripping traps with it. Everything else, nylon works.
  15. Well, after days of tornado watches, wind advisories, and pouring rain since the DNR opened the Catch and Release season, today was gorgeous; clear, high-50's, and just windy enough to throw a lipess crankbait. I started with a chrome/blue Spro Aruku Jr but switched to a Sexy Shad XR 50 for a little more weight. After hauling water for about an hour and a half, I found some green grass off a point that wasn't much shallower than normal. As it turns out, April Bass enjoy a slow yo-yo. First fish of 2015! What do you do when you catch a bass in an area? Keep working that area! Number three was the largest of the day. No measurements or scale unfortunately, but she may have gone three-something. Slightly smaller, but still good! No picture for fish number five, sorry to say. She choked the XR 50 and nicked a gill so I got her back in ASAP. The bleeding stopped immediately and she swam away fine (as did the first four). Today's gear was a CH51E with 30 lb. Original Power Pro and an Orochi XX Flat Side Special. This was the maiden voyage of the FSS and it performed very well. Thanks for reading!
  16. You need this in your life.
  17. Quality. I used to listen to a lot of goth/industrial back in the day (or last week, take your pick). There used to be a good scene in Detroit. I listen to the Monstercat albums while I study. I don't know what it is but it seems to be working.
  18. I think the Evoluzion C40 is going to be my limit, if I even get there. I'm very happy with the Orochi XX rods so far.
  19. Electronic music label. Variety of musicians on their albums. Mostly pretty good stuff.
