  1. Mustad last year came out with the fast attach swinging football head. Great product and caught many fish. My problem was hard to feel bottom when "bottom bugging" Along comes strike king with a similar fast attach football head design....but in tungsten! Much smaller profile with same effect and better bottom feel! Only concern I have is the durability of the attach wire. Is strike king and mustad in a partnership considering how similar the products are?
  2. Color matters more in open water especially clear water. Thick vegetation it matters none. I like white just because I can see it easily. If I use black it's gonna be rainforest yellow or some other bright colors on it for the reason Francho said.
  3. I've seen a lot of solid black, olive, green pumpkin. Even blueish purple
  4. Is this the new scrounger? Only come in 3/8 and 1/2 but seem like they would have same effect.
  5. Mon valley and the guys are great. I've learned a lot.
  6. Has the reel been disassembled?
  7. No consensus will be reached. Split about 30-30-30-10 between mustad Gama owner and vmc respectively.
  8. My boater yesterday used senkos exclusively. 2 keepers and two short fish. I didn't do any better but he wasn't doing himself any favors
  9. Add gambler little otter as trailer
  10. Anyone have one? Impressions? They are at good price (tat frame killed their value) and am considering another combo in next few months. Does the insane IPT make that much a difference? I'd imagine so but If I can get an 8:1 cheaper and not miss a beat then I'd have to consider it.
  11. If it is dense get a 3/4 punch weight and creature bait then punch them in the head.
  12. The m 6'9" rod would be good for target casting docks and lay downs and naturally smaller baits (1/2oz chatterbait plus trailer will exceed rod rating) The 7'1" will handle slightly larger chatterbaits and will cast a bit further and let you pick up line faster when fishing large grass flats.
  13. I saw your post. Get a hold of anyone yet?
  14. Mustad grip pin is what I use. Can't wait for the light wire version to come out.
  15. Wired strippers are too crazy for my taste
  16. Depends on the cover. I won't throw a jig bank fishing if I'm on rip rap. If there is grass on the rip rap I will as it sits on the grass not the rocks. As far as timber? No different really from any angle as you usually are working it over limbs. I rarely drag a jig bank fishing as it's a terrible way to locate fish and takes too long.
  17. I couldn't turn the fish and get their heads out. I love punching and my main punch rod was predisposed as my frog rod as that was the pattern for the day. However I had no similar rod for throwing a follow up bait so I used my flipping stick with the copoly. I feel like the weak point was the stretch of the copoly (pline cx premium is low low stretch) compared to zero of braid and it's veggie dicing ability.
  18. Yesterday I followed up a couple frog blows in light mat with a punch rig. Mustad flipping hook, 20 lb pline copolymer and xfast heavy rod. Hooked into two but lost both when pinning them on mat. Too much give in line? The rod is xfast and I've used braid with it before and I've ripped hooks out of fish. Am I gonna have to buy a new punching combo?
  19. Abec 5s are about as good as you need for fishing. Casting distance won't improve too much but casting effort will decrease.
  20. I'm not sure what guides are on airdx but the tds don't have the best. The airdx uses same minimalistic reel seat and basic hook hanger and I'm sure it's the same unsanded blank.
  21. Wow what an insult. They just came out with team daiwa s rods and now they have the aird x which is the exact same rod at half the price....only difference is color and name... Don't get me started on the new dumbed down tatula rod... Love daiwa reels but I'm really getting pushed to okuma and phenix rods...
  22. My dad! Couple guys in my club help me out with nuances and tricks I hadn't figured out.
  23. If your braid is digging in or breaking off while dropshotting then you are doing it wrong.
  24. You use straight fc on spinning reel? Most everyone uses braid Braid with fc leader has almost no line management issues and provides better sensitivity and hooksets. Not to mention it is cheaper.
