  1. The Lighter is for the razor blade and disinfecting it. the screw driver was the apply pressure to the skin so it didnt pull and stretch.
  2. Yeah gen 3. it was 159 but i had a 20 dollar off dicks cash and i have a 100 gift card and some left over gift cards.
  3. Bought a new revo SX off dicks today. with gift cards and dicks rewards i only paid 18 bucks out of pocket....Im excited. get a free hoodie too.
  4. Fish them like you would anything that simulates a bait fish. you can twitch em like a fluke. pop em like a jerk bait. jig them. roll them like a spinner bait.
  5. It looked worse that it was. we just snipped each hook off. and pushed em right threw. the most painfull part was snipping the hooks. Those Lazer Trokars are pretty sharp. They pushed right through
  6. we wanted our heads a bit clearer before we operated. and besides i more a Makers guy myself
  7. Fishing reels are like women. one you think you have one your happy with a new model comes out that is more slim a bit lighter and alot better looking. and you just cant afford to upgrade.... Am i wrong?
  8. My best on spoon was on a johnson sprite. pitching into cover and letting it fall. 7lbs 5 oz. pretty sure she was female that just laid eggs. she seemed a little sucked down and i would assume to be a bit heavier if it was earlier in the year. she was 25" long and her mouth fit both my fist.
  9. Found this picture on my phone from last year. nothing Better than a Problem and a solution. Needless to say my friend didnt much like going fishing with me after that day Lets see yours
  10. Auggie14 asked what people are throwing under docks and it reminded me of my favorite bait that i learned how to bass fish on. the johnson silver minnow and the johnson sprite. Who else throws spoon's. I feel like everyone forgets about them. i love to fish them and i forget about them. I only seem to break them out on a slump and they are probably my number one confidence bait. I think the only wrong way to fish them is by leaving them in your tackle box
  11. I like to use IMO the most forgotten about bait that is also one of the most productive. a 3/4oz johnson silver minnow. i have learned to get them to skip pretty well. something about a fast silver flash falling under the dock. if there are shad under that dock bass will go crazy over it. if they dont hit it on that fall i pop it back to the boat. I think why i prefer a spoon over a jig under a dock is i get strikes on a spoon not bites. i have had fish almost pull the rod out of my hands fishing a spoon.
  12. I mean I grew up bottom fishing in florida and i have used 10Lb sinkers deep dropping for snapper in 700-1100 ft of water so heavy is a relative term i agree but im talking more along the line of bigger baits in thicker cover.
  13. I will be using spinning gear but saltwater spinning gear I would throw for snook or reds something with enough back to turn a fish but still fish able
  14. I am trying to break into the world of drop shotting. i have had great success so far for the little time i have been drop shotting. i recently watched a video on youtube and watched a guy drop shot cypress trees with a Trick worm and thought how this bring a whole new technique to my cover fishing game. So Im turning my St Croix 7'6" Tidemaster medium Moderate fast action with Penn Sargus 2000 into Heavy D-shot Rig. The rod seems like a beefed up version of my TFO Garry Loomie Tactical Drop shot rod. The rod seems to have a good action for a drop shot . I Plan on using 25 lb power pro and 17 lb Flouro Leader. Any guys doing this heavy dropshot?? Ii feel like this would be killer on using say a Fluke on grass lines during the spring in about 3-6 ft of water or on the edge of pads or laydowns.
  15. The blue color on a red drum comes from its diet is what i have been told. could be the same idea??
  16. Yeah. the bait is kind of overwhelming but i think fish seeing a crankbait that deep get interested . I feel like they are used to seeing jigs/carolina rigs/ spinner baits deep on and over brush piles. I have never had deep fish in cold water follow a lure like they were following the 10XD. I fish a lot of resevoirs that have moderately steep banks. the water is usually a few feet deep off the bank and about 50 ft out is about 25-35 feet. so a crankbait that can cover the entire drop is crucial for me. Am i wrong? i feel like alot of people dont like these huge baits. but the size seems to "match the hatch" the blueback herring's or blueback shad seem to look identical to the stikekings sexy shad. the colors are spot on. I imagine fishing bridges it would be a great locater. expecially in a situation where there isnt alot of cover to hang you up shallow digging down the banks to the creek channel would be killer way to find out where they are holding on the bridge. especially in a "need a kicker fish situation" my only problem is the striper want this bait just as much and i seem to catch just as many striper as i do largemouth. which isnt a reel complaint. but when it comes tourny time it could get old.
  17. maybe i wasnt specific enough. i understand how to tie the knot and getting the hook in the bait and the bait strait on the hook isnt overly difficult. the issue it my tungsten and bait not in a strait line like they would be on a EWG/Offset. is this normal. it seems undesirable. What im doing to get them strait is leaving my bobber stop looser to allow some more slack between to the sinker and bait to allow them to straiten up. does that make sense???
  18. Are you guys tying snells or polamer knots for yor strait shank flipping . I'm new to strait shank flippin hooks and I'm having troubling rigging my baits strait. I'm used to the offset or the EWG. Which knot do yall prefer and how to you rig your baits strait it just seems like a PITA to get them strait
  19. Anyone fishing the 10XD crank. it might be my new favorite "deep water " crank. especially for fish suspending brush piles in about 25-35 ft of water. the bass are inhaling it. I have been using my "big lipped cranking" setup which is a Revo Winch with the 5.4:1 and a 7'10" Medium Heavy tour KVD cranking rod. It seems to be "working" but the rod just doesn't have the back for this lure. what are you guys using for this monster crankbait. Ive heard not so good things about the heavy crankbait rods. that they dont throw like a normal cranking rod. any recommendation's?
  20. So i have always wondered and figured it had to do with the moudling process but almost every soft plastic that has legs, claws, or a tail has them connected to the body buy a small bit of plastic. most time i disconnect them. some times i leave them together, i don't really seem to see a difference. the only difference i have noticed is when punching a beaver tail in grass i get bit a lot more with the flappers stuck together. especially the BIOSPAWN vilecraw. any one else leave the legs together. or does most everyone break them apart.
  21. My goals are to be successful and win also to learn everything I can. I don't want to say fishing isn't fun but when I go out I can seem to satisfy my itch. That itch seems to be competing. I want to compet at a more competive level. I'm just worried my current rig will not work for anything higher than the local HP limited tournaments. What I have gathered from you guys is go out fish a tournament as a non boater and get a good feel for the circuit and make an informed decision from there
  22. The drag on my Saros is smooth as butter and i know shimano makes a fine product. i have just heard that Abu makes great bait casters and nothing else.
  23. Looking to build a little nicer drop shot setup. i have my eyes set on the Gloomis GL2 Drop shot spinning rod. as far as reel I need some assistance. My current Drop shot set up is my shaky head setup. which is a 7'6" Medium moderate action St Croix with a Shimano Saros all my BC are Abu Garcia. 1) because I would give up a leg to keep my MGX or STX. 2) ABU Garcia does %30 discount for active duty military, so i am a huge advocate of ABU How do ABU;s spinning reels hold up or should i go shimano. i was torn between the Revo SX spinning reel or the Shimano Stradic FJ. Any thoughts???
  24. So I've got everything ready to roll to start fishing local tournaments this coming year pretty hard. I'm active duty Navy so my ability to travel and make every tournament is limited but I'm still going to try and do it. I have entered some local tournaments and was competitive in the ranks. i wouldn't consider anything a win or a loss since only bragging rights was on the line. Almost every lake in about 50 miles from my house is HP limited so I'm using a 16 ft jon with a 9.9 that is pretty decked out for a jon boat. my question is how do i make the jump to the bigger tournaments. are guys out there fishing in jon boats against guys with 70k Rigs? Or do do most people take the hit buy a decent second hand bass boat and try there shot. i plan on fishing every tournament i can and maybe in the next few years take a shot at something like Walmart BFL Piedmont or Shenandoah divisions. any thoughts or am i way off in my dreams. i'm looking for some criticism here constructive or not. give your thought's
  25. any one use these as a jig trailer. i havent seen them in person yet but they look like the could be deadly for flipping on a 1/2 oz jig. they might be a little big at 5" if they made a 3 or 4" could work better i might try em out. anyone else done this?
