gen 2-gen 2 touch-gen 3 compataibility
So I have a HDS 7 Gen 2 touch in dash. A HDS 5 gen 2 in the bow. they are not networked and I want to put an HDS 12 Gen 3 in the console using bass boat technologies mount and move the HDS 7 touch to a ram mount up front next to my In-bow HDS-5 I want to leave the HDS-5 stand alone and hooked up to the US2 transducer in my fortrex. and network the HDS-7 and HDS-12 My thought is the HDS-5 will be my sonar up front and the HDS-7 will be my chart and let me see whats going on SS and DS when fishing from the bow. Will these all interfere with each other.?? and does any one have trouble reading SS and DS at slow speeds? also with the Gen 3 network to the Gen 2 correctly. I have researched this and found some awnsers from lowrance but i want to know yalls experience. Thanks!

Santee Cooper
New to the cooper river. Learning to fish tidal waters. Any help helps! I fished back river the past 3 days. caught 1 dink on a watermen red Zoom Horny toad and 3 1-2 lbs bass flipping Berkely pit boss in PB&J and had about a 4-5 lber come off at the boat on a 5XD strike king in sexy shad. fishing outside edges of the mats close to the river channel in about 8 ft of water only problem is I have caught about 12 mud fish. cant seem to keep him off the line.

New again. Charleston SC
Hey guys my name is Brent. Its been a while since I have been on here. I'm active duty Navy and haven't been able to do much bass fishing the past 2 years. Just got stationed in Charleston SC and got a new Bass boat. Pictures below. I have been in SC for about 4 weeks and have had my boat for about 2 weeks. I have been fishing my butt off on the Cooper river. Learning Tidal fisheries are tough. but I'm leaning. Planning on fishing the BFL's next year in the SC division as a boater next year. Steep learning curve coming my way!!!

What's The Fastest Way To Strip Old Line?
I like to use a plastic soda bottle with a bolt through the lid on a drill. Since I reverse my Braided Line to get more use out of it I take it off one bottle to another then reel it back on my reel.

Any Takes On The Ike Series Rod?
I am a huge fan of talking about the percentage of backbone. thats gives me a better idea of each rod. I hate how every "technique rod" is different. Im a huge fan of these rods. Im going to pick one up come tax return

Bed Fishing: Friend Or Foe
It's absolutely true. Just because the lake is catch and release doesn't mean there aren't other forces to allow for a balanced Eco system. If there are abundance of bass and the forage can't support growth the schools growth will be stunted. Same idea for deer or any other animal

Question Regarding Too Much Stiffness For Worm Set Up
You should be fine on your line size. I use 12-20Lb Berkely Triline is HI-VIS Colors so i can watch my line. depending on what size weight your using. I dont throw less than about 3/16 on a MH baitcaster. I prefer a 1/4oz or 5/16oz weight. so I can really get it out there. On the Note you have to adjust your hooksets with mono. On braid you set the hook the same everytime. On mono if he is 40yds out when you get bit you have to reel into him good and make sure all your slack is gone before you slam that hook and drive it through his mouth. where as next to the boat you dont need to be so aggressive.

Orra 2 Winch
This reel is awesome for a cranking reel. I dont think there is a better cranking reel for 99 bucks IMO. That being said. I dont think it work wells on HUGE swimbaits and umbrella rig type baits. I think launching a huge 3oz plus bait would burn this reel up. When I upgraded to the Revo Winch for my cranking rod I had my Orra Winch on my umbrella rig rod for a bit and ended up trading it to a buddy for a C3 6500 which was alot more stout throwing a heavy umbrella rig. That was my opinion of it. But for throwing 1 1/2OZ bait I think it would be fine for years. I loved my Orra I think its a better reel than the Revo S.

Hds 10 Gen2 Vs Echomap 93Sv
So I had my mind set on upgradeing sonar units to something with SI. after looking at about 500 SONAR screen shots. the SI and DI really help bring the picture together of the lake bottom. I was looking at dropping the money on a HDS 10. then I found the ECHOMAP 93SV by garmin Is anyone running this unit. I know its new but it seems sweet. Pro's for 93SV 1000 Dollar Price Difference One transducer Combo Unit Comes with Lakevu preloaded Cons for 93SV non networkable not alot of reviews What do you guys think. The question is should I mount it on the transom or on the trolling motor. My trolling motor is a Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 I worried about not being able to motor around and look at my graph if I trolling motor mount and Vice-a-Versa. I do plan on getting a second unit eventually but I can deciede to place my unit in the Bow or in the cockpit (reason to go HDS)

Using My Fishfinder To Actually Find Fish
Guys I really appriciate the help. I went out yesterday afternoon for about 5 hours and used a 1oz tungsten jig weight with strait braid and using my electronics I basically found structure/cover and ran my weight around to "feel the bottom" and learn what my electronics were telling me. I wasnt fishing as much as I was verifying what my graph said. I am learning to tell the difference between different bottoms and bottom harderness. and look for brushpiles and laydowns. I will say I have learned to like my strait graph more than my DSI. it seems to tell me a more about the bottom.

I love them both but the MGX kills it on light lines and finesse applications. It beat my shimano core50 to bits IMO

I just picked up a GLX and NRX and I was blown away with the quality. I used to wonder why people spent that kinda money and it became self explanatory when I actually fishes them

Just Bought Gloomis Nrx And Glx And...
I Have the GL2 803C JWR and also the IMX 803C JWR and I fish them in my arsenal regularly. my GL2 I strickly use with a 4/0 owner and 3/16 OZ worm weight with a zoom MAG II tequila sunrise for back up cast and short strikes. It stays at my feet ready for a back up cast. I never seem to fish it as a techniquie but if I miss the bite I set down the rod with the bait still out throw that worm in for round 2. I have caught a good amount of fish on i like that. So on my GL2 I can feel the bites but i feel the bites because I know the fish is coming for it. When im worming it seems a bit harder to pick up those suttle pick ups. IDK not a junk rod but my $150 Veracity is twice the rod. I think the GL2 should run 99 bucks my IMX is my worming rod which I use 5/0 owner 5/16 OZ and 10" Zoom ol Monster tequila sunrise. this is my sit down on the boat deck and really pick apart structure rod. and despite the 90 dollar price the difference the IMX seems like its 5x the rod. On this rod I can feel if a bluegill farts within 50 yds of my lure.

Bed Fishing: Friend Or Foe
Read the article I linked in my above post. an over populated lake that is full of 1 lb bass doesnt support the fish growing. A pond or lakes can only support a certain poundage of bass that poundage of bass is determined by food the bass can eat. Say in your 1 acre pond its 1000 lbs and mine is 1000lbs. well your lake has 990 1lb bass and 1 10lbs bass. mine has 100 10 lb bass. I am going to fish my pond not yours to catch a 10lb hawg Does that make sense? your lake could use a good harvest of 1lbs every year so you population will even out. Mine could use a harvest of about 10 every year to allow for a thriving population of healthy fish So if your fishing a lake that is full of long skinny 1-3 lbers and you can go catch 100 off them any day of the week and a 5+ pound fish is rare then that lake is over populated. Fish a Lake that has a lower catch rate but most bass are football shaped and 10lb bass are common like lake O or Kissismee chain in florida those bass populations are healthy. you take a Lake like the Big O or Guntersville. they have a huge ecosystem with enough forage for bass to thrive on the bass can grow you will find those 17" 5lb football bass that look like they are going to pop because the amount of shad or shiners in there bellys

Using My Fishfinder To Actually Find Fish
I dont anymore but when i started out with the basic elite4X I didnt care about anything but depth and rate of depth change. Basically I used it to find ledges and drops and used my jig or worm to find out what exactly was on bottom. Now i have learned to read my SONAR and know what I am seeing and can pick apart things like grass and ledges and brush and laydowns and standing timber. I keep my sensitivy where I can clearly see my thermocline if present usually around 65-75% But I cant figure out is how to find these sonar ARCs and DSI white blips that are fish are turn that into fish on my line I see guys on youtube find bass in 60-100 feet of water and feed them a dropshot like it was nothing. I can find the thermocline and fish every point at that depth and get bite sure. but to find schooling fish or suspended fish in open water I cant do that. I cant even find these bass in 20-35 feet of open water which is common to the lakes and resevoirs I fish. I havent caught a bass yet on a dropshot it open water that wasnt sight fishing. I grew up fishing florida lakes my whole life where the "deep" was 4-6ft and summer haunts were lilly pads and hydrailla mats. where a devilhorse and a rubber worm maybe a flipping jig made quick work of a 15 lb sack. Sure I will see isolated schools of bait or random suspending fish. but using my electronics to basically locate a school and put 5 fish in the boat from a school in the middle of the lake I cant do.
