  1. picked up three XCITE xb-1 crank baits the other day online. i got sexy shad, reaper craw, and citrus shad. I will say I am a huge fan. they seemed to like the citrus shad today. they had a nice tight wobble and it ran true all day with no tweaking. on the stop they had a decent suspend. worked well cast along a wooden sea-wall in about 6 foot of water and casting right to it and giving it one rip and holding about 3 seconds then ripping again. and when they hit it the rip got em off the wall and set the hook. put 18# in the boat on 8 fish. any one else use?
  2. I have heard that bass will eat baby gators a foot or less.
  3. i fish strictly two dollars and under spinner baits and i love them. i have caught as many fishing on my cheapos as my 5 dollar ones and i dont care if i loose a cheap one. and i have never had an issue with durability on these except for skirts getting messed up but i have learned to wrap a bread tie on there as tight as a can with pliers and clip it and they stay really well
  4. with the MOJO try going to there 7' MF plastics rod. MOJO's seem to be stouter than there other M or MH counter parts. i agree my 7'6" pitchin mojobass is heavier than my 7'6" veritas but my 7' plastics mojo bass has more backbone than alot of my 7' MH. but i do love all my veritas.
  5. It depends The veritas is a pretty stout MH I'm my opinion and its light. Depends what your fishing and how u fish If ur looking on the 100 dollar range check out the st croix mojo bass. When I was in high school I fished exclusively berkley lightening rods for money reason they are in my opinion best bang for your buck I mean there 30 bucks at Walmart and Walmart has a very loose exchange policy if you break it take it back. I have caught as many fish on my Berkeley lightening rod as I have my Gloomis GLX . Sure a 500 dollar rod is more sensitive but if money is tight You can buy 12 lightening rods for the same price and exchange them every couple of months
  6. I'm using megastike. And most the time it seems like they have swam off with it or they fight for about a second and I get back a tube with barely any hook sticking out. I will try the Trokars I use there drops shot hooks and love em
  7. I've been using havoc smash tubes and getting hits but on hook sets I'm not sinking the hook. i drive my hook sets enough to move my boat. I've been told I need to skin hook the tube for better hook ups. I guess I don't know what skin hook means exactly but I basically bring the hook all the way into the tube and push it out the other side barely sticking thru is that not right?? I'm using a 5/0 offset owner hook with a pegged worm weight. Any advice
  8. my dad showed me this trick with ZOOM dead ringers and sight fishing really shallow water with them. the dead ringer has enough action you can swim them really well and on a slow fall it will drive bass crazy. my $0.02
  9. not the same but about a month ago i caught a chunky 6 lber and my dad went to snap a pic with my ihpone and when i got home i got a buncha out thumb pics
  10. me and the old man went out the other day on lake prince in suffolk virginia did pretty well. 2 hawgs and a bunch random's on the KVD sexy shad 5.0 crankbaits here some of the pics
  11. mega strike for sure. except when you leave it out on your boat deck fishing and it liquifies in the hot sun. can be a bit messy. but i sold on it
  12. I wear costa del mar with 580 lens I have three different pairs with different colors depending on water clarity and color there about 220 for the 580 lens and150 for 400 lens know the strike king s11 is what alot of my buddies wear and for 30 bucks I say there the best bangfor the buck. But if you want to drop the money can't beat a set of blue or green lens costa del mars
  13. Anyone else using these? Been using them as trailers and just for strait Texas rig. Gives an awesome action even on the light 1/8 finesse jigs. A little less bulky than the wooley bully better for punching down through grass IMO. If im running em for a trailor i bite the tail off Some people might call it blasphemy but I've put down my ragetails. try EM out. And if you dont like them send em to me My favorite colors are cajun neon , bama magic and big o craw Caught this 6.81 lb hog last night
  14. Very early very late lots of water and sun screen. Lol I fish points and humps looking for suspended fish. Pitching bridges has done well for me. But the same time I caught a 7 lber that was 25inchs in a foot of water near some cypress stumps on a 100 degree day with the sun beating down a 2 in the afternoon. About 2 weeks ago
  15. What's it run for custom skirts??
  16. I'm running a MH 7 foot abu Garcia veritas on 30 lb braid and 40 lb florou leader
  17. I found the replacment skirts from strike king for pretty cheap and I'm gonna order ten arky jig heads from siebert and she how it goes
  18. Yea and its not strait but instead of my hook shank and hook point being parallel there at about 90 degrees. Does anyone make there own jigs and if tso where do they get the parts. I would l like to use a 5/0 owner hook but I can't find a jig head that uses EM thanks guys
  19. also the YUM Money Craw shorten up so the legs hang out about 1/2" behind the skirt is my favorite. i seem to get alot of movement out of them even on the smaller jigs
  20. One of my favorite Jigs is the Strike king bleeding bait premier jig in the black brown amber color. for some reason that really produces in this hot summer months for me. has almost a perch look to it. last week I ripped a 7.02 pounder from bridge pillings in about 8 Ft of water. well it seemed to bend the hook (which seemed pretty stout) where it wanted to snag every log in the lake. i bent it back with some pliers and it worked fine for the rest of the day well today on a brand new jig i pulled a hard hitting 4.14 pounder from some willows and as soon as I lipped him into the boat the jig fell right out because i dang near straighten the hook. so i tied on another new jig and about 15 minutes later i straighten another hook on fish right a 4 lbs flat. i feel like this shouldn't happen. I dont believe in the term "setting the hook to hard" flipping but what are yalls experience with bad hooks on strike king jigs. i know there are other company's but there colors and styles give me the most confidence. plus there trailer holders hook pretty well.???
  21. I dont kayak fish anymore but i can point you in some good directions for the lakes around here
  22. By primary I mean im not grabbing my broomstick st croix that will wear you out after an hour to cruise a bank. its in the boat to be used for the nasty stuff. its just in Hampton roads the reservoirs i fish dont have vegetation to require it.
  23. I guess I see the point to have on in the boat but not to have it as my primary.
