Lipless Cranks
I love Fishing Lipless Cranks. I have done a number on red eye shad. but i lose more lipless cranks than anything. thats why I now fish Bass Pro. my motto is if you dont get hung up 4 or 5 times fishing a lipless crank you wernt fishing them close enough to cover. I fish lipless cranks deep into cover. I love skipping them under overhands and behind laydowns and letting them fall for a second and using a steady pull raise them out of the cover. I usually get bit on the second fall after I pull them out of the brush.

Chesapeake, Va Fishing Spots
I Have a Love Hate Relationship with Western Branch, Lake Prince, and Burnt Mills. I have done my best at Lake Prince with 5 fish weighing in at 34 lbs all fish 6-8 lbs. and the next 15 times I went didnt get a bite with fish showing on the graph The suffolk lakes hold huge bass. but they dont fish like lakes. they fish like ponds. It sucks because they are large bodies of water that dont seem to pattern well. you will never become a better fisherman fishing out of the suffolk lakes. I still fish the suffolk lakes but i feel like im wasting my time. Sure I can "Practice technique" but I dont get to practice locating fish and developing patterns like I would on a larger body of water. I live ten mintues from lake prince so I fish that lake often. but its easy to get discouraged out on the suffolk lakes. you might have 5 great days of fishing a year but the other 30 are bust days. I Fished Lake Prince about 25 times last year and had a 3 or 4 days where 5 fish weighed 20-30 lbs and the rest of the days i didnt even get a bite. where If i make the drive to Gaston/Kerr/James river out of 25 days I have my 2-3 great days of a 20-30lb 5 fish Stringer. but on the other days I still get bit and catch 10-20 fish in the 1-2 lb range. Does that Make sense. I feel like you learn how to fish catching the 1-2 lbs and figuring out the seasonal patterns and once you have the school patterned getting the big boys to bite. but If you are looking to buy a boat I have a great deal on a 12ft jonboat. and if you want to go fish PM me.

Considering Buying A New Nitro
Also I used to work at a dealership and it seemed people were extremly happy with the 2 stroke outboards all the saltwater guides who ran offshore almost always ran an ETEC or Saltwater series II HPDI yamaha.the 2 strokesare extremely realiable and lower maintence cost. The annual service on a boat with twin 225 ETEC's was the same as a year on a single 4 stroke yamaha or Verado in the same HP. My dad has a 2002 yamaha HPDI 225 that recieves about 75 hours a year and with the mininmum recommended maintanance that motor has never left him stranded.

Considering Buying A New Nitro
I feel like you would be better of buying a used boat. Ssure 22k no hagle price. but when you figure putting decent electronics plus taxes and dealer fees that they add in your closer to 30k. I would think your better of buying a 2006-2010 Barely used Nitro/Triton/skeeter in great shape that has the 225. that has the power pole, that has the electronics. especially if you fish tournys. get the 200-250HP that 115 is gonna be a dog. Buy Mike Ike's Boat. http://bassboatoutlet.com/cgi-bin/bboclassifieds.cgi?pagename=Display Ad&boatid=BBC1609.20100302.191534 Ad&boatid=BBC1609.20100302.191534 Sure that boat might have been fished hard. but it was probably very well maintained and probably in tip top shape.

Ribbon Tail Worm
Zoom MAG II 9.5" or Ol Monster 10 or 12" in Tequila Sunrise. I can always catch a fish on a tequila sunrise. If the bite is tough or im getting short strikes i bite about 4" off the 12" ol monsters. I think ZOOM has hands down the best soft plastics. Plum Apple Red Bug June Bug are other good colors. IMO

Smithwicks Devil Horse
Idk about money wise but they still catch fish like all get out so I'd say yeah, I don't think there is a better topwater bait

Which Color Buzzbait?

Smithwicks Devil Horse
I have 2 old devilhorses my dad gave me a while back that he bought back in the early eighties. I love these things. But they are pretty beat up and don't seem to run the same. Are the ones sold on tackleware house as good as the old ones. Or are they cheap knock offs. IF not what are some pod replacements for these things

Siebert Outdoor Jigs Came In The Mail....
...and I am disappointed....that I don't have the next 2 weeks off to catch every bass this side of the mississippi. These things are awesome. I bought the dredge jig pack in arky head and the random jig pack and for 37 dollars ships I am extremely impressed. This is a shoutout to siebert outdoors thanks for the great jigs. My local ecosystem will struggle to recover for years to come. Myself and the chili craw have some damage to do.

Collegiate Bass Fishing
So to understand this right. being on the collegiate bass fishing team allows you to fish under your schools name in FLW or BASS Tourneys with no registration fee. and as far as boats go i dont see many collegiate students fishing with there own boats and dont see the schools supplying the boats or is it a Boater, Non-boater type thing. or is it a Daddy's moneys fishing club?

Using Chatterbait>>>>>>>>>
I Have only caught one fish on a Chatter baits. It was the Z-man with a twin tail grub trailer it was black and blue with a green and orange trailer. (Very bluegillish) and trailer hook. First time out with one caught a 4 lber on my first cast about 2 years ago id say and never caught anything sense. I Love the way they swim but after that one fish and not getting even a short strike since my confidence has dwindled greatly.

Tungsten Worth The Expense?
You need to evaluate your fishing to make this determination. I feel like sensitivy isnt a reason to buy tungsten. my point being when i want to feel the bottom Im probably using a jig or T-rigged/C-rigged soft plastics. I have never caught a fish because tungsten gave me a better feel of the bottom. so for bottom fishing with 1/2 OZ or less lead wins it for me. Even using Mono on a 1/8 oz T-rigged worm I can feel almost everything. If i step it up to Braid I can feel even more. sure. I might feel a few more pebbles or twigs on bottom but I dont think thats important is this situation. when it comes to finding cover that bass are holding Lead is all you need. Where I justify tungsten cost is punching and flipping. I want the heaviest weight I can find with the smallest possible for punching. If im catching fish on small profile Beaver tungsten is the way to go. or if im trying to bust threw thick hydrilla or pads or get down deep into timber i will go with tungsten. But sometimes it takes a the biggest profiled creature bait with as many appendices as possible. So if im tossing lobster size brush hog at pillings or docks i will use 3/4 lead sinker for that HUGE profile. that im looking for. The point is buy tungsten for a reason. and trust me. you will know when you NEED Tungsten. But if your fishing from shore or open water lead is probably everything you need.

Which Reel Is The Best?!
Here are my reels and my opinions, (I am an ABU FAN) (2)Abu Garcia Revo MGX - The best reels I own. also the most expenive. extremly light weight. very responsive this reel is perfect for me. I use these reels on a ST Croix legend Tournement MH for pitching/skipping/light wight flipping because of how far i can be from my target and still maintain control of my baits. I also use this on my newest crankbait rod 7'6" MH veracity winch series for the same reason is I can LAUNCH any crank bait or rattle trap a mile. Although I imagine any $350 reel is on the same page tho. My problems with this reel is the higher gear ratio isnt ideal for crankbaits but I have learned to fish painfuly slow with this reel. (3) Abu Garcia Revo STX - Great reel, best real I own for $200. IMO its a heavier version of my MGX. I LOVE These reels for the same reason's as my MGX except maybe more because for 350 bucks i can buy a new reel and rod. have these reels is 6.4:1 and 7.1:1. I use these on my heavy flipping/ frogging rod (ST croix mojo bass Heavy flipping rod). my soft plastics/spinner baits(St croix Legend Tournament MHXF 7'1) and my Topwater/jerkbait/ Finesse jig rod ( GLoomis GL2 6'9" 812C) (2) Abu Garcia Revo SX- Decent reel for $140. IMO I like these reels for what i use them for. I use these reels on 4 different rods. One reel has 12lb Flouro the other has 35lb Power Pro. I swap these reels around on a Quantum KVD Cranking rod M and 3 Veritas rods and 1 Berkley Lightning rod the KVD is MH and the veritas are ML,M,MH. the BLR is a 6'6 MH I swap these around depending on what My plan is for the day and how the fish are biting. I usually change rods out a few times throughout the day. As i aquire more reels i will dedicate these rods. (2) Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6500 C3 reels. I have these on Shimano Crucial H 7'3" Fast action rods. I use these for saltwater and freshwater swimbaits. they are a bit bulky but they hold almost 400 yds of 30 lb braid and are Indestructable. I grew up fishing round abu garcia's and if i had to pick one reel it would be a ambassadeur. they cast well. have a great drag and for there size manage well. (1) Shimano Curado. I Like this reel. I dont love it. I have it on a ST Croix. Avid in 7' Medium I use this for buzzbaits. my issue with this reel is the brakes and the feel. I dont like how it holds in my hands compared to my Revo's and the brakes have alot to be learned from companies like DIAWA and ABU IMO. IM NOT SAYING SHIMANO IS NO GOOD. I JUST DONT LIKE FISHING THEM (1) Diawa T3 Ballistic. I just got this reel used it came on a Diawa 7'6" Heavy Tatula Rod. I LOVE THIS REEL. this reel may have turned me into a DIAWA fan. I wish the brake adjustment were more easily accessed. but I LOVE THIS REEL AND LOVE THIS ROD. I use it for punching heavy mats and have it spooled with 80LB braid. and the rising T Level wind system on the heavy braid lets it roll of the spool. I dont know how smooth the drag is on this reel because i keep it hammered down and have never have a fish pull drag on this reel. so i guess the drag works perfectly for me. Those are my opinions.

Collegiate Bass Fishing
I'm currently active duty and I am seperating from the military here in the next year. my plans are to attend either VT or UVA which both have bass fishing teams. Does anyone know the process for joining a collegiate bass team? I have messaged a few anglers currently on teams with no reply and was hoping someone could give me more info here. Thanks

I have been fishing strickly for about 15 years now and love them. i have never been disapointed with an ABU. not my round reels and not my Low pro's.
