  1. Browning makes a backpack especially suited for fishing. I have one and am very pleased. The price is pretty reasonable too. They have them at Bass Pro shops.
  2. You have to be more specific: What species? What lures? How much do you want to spend? Generally I would recommend you to one of the combos sold at BPS or Cabelas as they offer good quality at a reasonable price ( which of course depends on your interpretations of what "good quality" and "reasonable price" are)
  3. Well you have 2 maybes and about a dozen "awfuls"..... I also bought one and wasn't impressed so make it a baker's dozen.

Here are a few really good covers made in the last 10 years or so with links if you care to check them out: Jeff Buckley's cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" (probably the best version of this song) http://youtube.com/watch?v=zLQUdHMFpBQ Ben Harper and Jack Johnson's cover of Bob Marley's "High Tide, Low Tide" http://youtube.com/watch?v=o5FfEqsIrtY Jeff Buckley's cover of Abel Meeropol's "Strange Fruit" Though it became Billie Holiday's song. This one is one of my favorites. Unfortunately I don't have any knowledge of a place where you can find this cover online. Michael Stipe of REM and Coldplay performing Joseph Arthur's "In the Sun"
  5. If the lake has cover suitable for fishing frogs they'll work fine. No lake I fish in has large purple 7-10" worms in it and I still catch lots of fish on them.
  6. The 100 will get the job done
  7. You don't have to take off the handle side to get to the brakes, Dartanium drag, aluminum sideplates, septon grips, and general build quality would be the design improvements. The calcutta is also offered in a wider array of sizes. Not giving any opninion just listing the differences I'm aware of.
  8. It seems to me if you set the hook a minor difference in frog softness won't matter too much. I think hook design is more important and this leads me to use the spro frog. Poor hookup percentage is inherent with any bait of this type. Delay your hookset for a second or wait until you feel weight and always have a follow up jig or plastic to throw if the fish misses.
  9. Thats a bit of an unusual frog/flipping set up. But here are some recommendations. Daiwa exceler -$60 aluminum body and 31" per turn in the 3000 size http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=91206&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=1&hvarSubCode=2&hvarTarget=browse Shimano symetre 31" per turn $80 aluminum body http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=52966&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=1&hvarSubCode=2&hvarTarget=browse Those two satisfy your requests for price fast line pick up and both feature metal bodys which are highly recommended for fishing around heavy cover. The similar offering from quantum is the kinetic pti but it does not feature as fast a retrieve speedlike you requested. Pfluegers similar offering is the medalist but I couldn't find their inches per turn on the BPS site.
  10. No it is probably not the best choice for all lure types. Braid is inherently ill suited to treble hook lures because it has no stretch. I would use either a softer copolymer like hybrid ultra soft or a good quality mono with low stretch for a setup designed for versatility. These would probably give you a better balance of stretch and sensitivity than braid would if you intend to fish all types of lures while at the same time having low enough memory to be used on spinning gear. Your question itself raises some problems as a spinning reel with 10-12lb test is not suited for all lure types. You can do alot with such a set up but it is not suited for fishing in heavy cover or in situations that call for light line. The fact that braid is more suited to heavy cover fishing (its very visible) is another reason I would not recommend it for spin fishing. You'll hear many different answers none of which are "right" or "wrong" but thats what I'd do.
  11. As mentioned before I prefer sufix (ties better knots) but theres nothing wrong with power pro.
  12. I have never owned one but I have never heard of a purchaser who has a single bad thing to say about them. Everyone is well pleased with both the rod and customer service. One of my buddies is sponsored by them and the owner is a real stand up guy. he'll even personally answer your emails. I look to buy one next time I need a new rod.
  13. The epixor alumina and other mid to low end spinning reels have served me well and really taken a beating. I've used them as surf reels and for other saltwater tasks and they've handled the rough environment well. I have heard less encouraging things about the baitcasters and high end offerings but have never used these myself.
  14. I've found all sorts of stuff. Alot of it is unuseable but I've found an almost new DT-10, an original rapala and a floating rogue among other things.
  15. I like the looks of that bait. Looks like a shad rap you can cast much further. And a feathered treble never hurts a baits action.
  16. There is no best line but sufix mono is good line and is actually not that expensive. Their braid is greatas well.
  17. I haven't heard of a single purchaser who didn't like the revo. I haven't heard of a single purchaser who did not like the curado. The Revo has an external brake and the curado internal so if thats an issue keep it in mind. Pick the one you like the feel of best.
  18. You actually get some pretty useful coupons. 40% off BPS brand sunglasses etc.
  19. I run about 15-25 miles a week. Just recreational I'm not very fast. I got into it heavily about 6 monthas ago.

    Bass Pro Shop makes one
  24. I would not fish my senkos with a weight when rigged wacky style. I don't feel that is the most effective way to fish that bait and rig combination.

Overall from what I've read I'm under the imrpession that Boise State's lack of a tough strength of schedule is more a result of others refusing to schedule them as opposed to them avoiding top tier opponents. However a Boise State vs. top BCS school game in the regular season makes little sense for both sides the way things are currently set up. Since a team in the top 11 of the polls automatically gets a BCS berth if undefeated, Bosie State has little incentive to play top tier teams. Converesely the top tier teams have little incentive to risk their season early against a team like Boise State. Why would Texas USC Michigan etc etc schedule them in the regular season when: - if they win they get little positive as its not a BCS school and not regarded as top competition - if they lose they're out of the national championship. From Boise State's angle it makes little sense either because if they lose in the regular season their shot at a BCS berth is done. Therefore rather than schedule a top caliber team early in the season they play their way into a BCS game and get their shot when it counts. Now that Boise State has won a BCS game this situation may change as they are accorded a little more respect. I'm not disagreeing with your point Matt just highlighting why I think that alot of schools avoid the tough non conference game. Overall though it was a top notch game. Boise State really threw the playbook at em. If the game had gone into two overtimes I think they would have lined a kitchen sink up at tight end.
