Where Would Your Dream Fishing Trip Take You?

Featured Replies

For most of us money and time are both items to be considered when thinking about our dream fishing trip. If you had plenty of both, where would you go on your dream trip and why?

I've seen so many tv shows, and read so many articles about Lake El Salto and Lake Bacarac, I'd love to go down and spend a week to see if I could catch Big Mama.

Dream trip,     Heading down to Mexico to visist Raul and the bait monkey, spending a week fishing the waters of Mexico and eating authentic foods.

Then sliding over to Cabo for another week to hook up with Catt and Norm Isaac for another week of Bill fishing.

Good answers. I don't know whether I would go to Baccarac with Tom Reddington or to the Amazon Peacock Fishing. Hooking into big bass gets my motor running. I suppose both would suit nicely. 8-)

Freshwater - Always wanted to hook into some peacocks and those crazy payara.

Salt - I want to be on TV with Jose Wejebe. Big tarpon, baby!!! (and I find it amusing that the show is "The Spanish Fly," I am sure Muddy would appreciate that!!!!)

South America / Amazon River

Sure, a 20 lb Peacock Bass would be great..... But I couldn't leave without sticking a 40 plus Pacu, or a 100 plus South American Catfish (of one species or another).

Plus, what an awesome place for some great photography, even aside from fish photos.

Cedar Lake, Manitoba, drive-to fishing for Northern Pike.

I'm sure it will become a reality, I'm not much of a dreamer.

2 places- Lake Dixon, CA in an attempt to catch that 25 lb + LMB that Mac Weackley let go last year.  After taking a shot there my next stop would be the Rio ***** in Brazil to catch some peacocks.  I want Gonzaga to be my guide.  Did anyone watch Record Hunters on ESPN Outdoors.  This guy jumped in the river and swam over to untangle a peacock that had wrapped around a submerged tree.

Considering here in the KC area there are not a lot of places to catch huge bass, I would have to pick one of the big bass lakes down in Mexico so I could have a shot at my first double digit bass.  I would also love to fish for peacock, but I'll take a monster greenback first.

I did see that episode! Thats why I would have to agree with you about going to the Amazon with Gonzaga. My other trip would be to go up north to catch Smallies with KVD. Or maybe the Coosa River with Gerald Swindle.

Having been to Brazil, I can tell you from firsthand experience that Gonzaga, although good, pales in comparison to Ze Bodo, the guide that my dad and I had in Brazil.

If you look at the stats of the fish that they caught, they averaged 5 - 15 fish a day.  If I had nothing else to compare it to, that would be pretty good.  However, my dad and I on our worst day caught 32 fish.  Our best day we caught 84.

I also noticed that he was not very involved in their fishing.  Again some people may like that, but the guides over at the Rio ***** lodge did EVERYTHING for you.  Unbelievable trip guys, It's definitely one that I would recommend to anyone wanting to go.

I'm going back God willing at the end of October this year.  Maybe we can get a few BassResource guys to come along???

My next dream trip after that will have to be to go to Argentina on the Uruguay River for Golden Dorado.  The Dorado there makes the Peacock Bass i caught in Brazil look like guppies - they average 25 - 35 pounds!  On topwater!!

For bass, California, Texas and Florida, for the chace of catching a fish over 7lbs! The european record is some 10.3lbs, so...

I also liked to fish the Amazon for peackok, Argentina for dorado and steelhead (huge, so I've heard) and (this is weird) I'd like to catch me some Nile perch (they grow to 6ft and 400 lbs!!! For real!!!)

Well one dream is about to unfold FISHING THE FORK in March

My other dreams are rather humble compared to you guys

I waant to fish bass/pike in Minnesota I would love to meet Al Linder

then I want to move down south for the rest of my life and Bass and Crappie fish til they throw the dirt on me

Oh Yea Id like to fish Florida Salt water for Bone Fish,Tarpon anbd Snook

Thanks for raining on my parade Redline :'( Hopefully, I will get the chance to draw comparisons myself one day. Until then it will remain my "Dream fishing trip." :)
