Awesome, Mike. I like the look of those, too. Is it a new product from Gammy? Seems weird that they only offer them unpainted and without the weedguard attached. Almost like they wanted to rush them to market while they work on packaging and marketing the 'finished' product. I agree with others above who suggest you might try making your own. Painting, gluing the weedguard and tying skirts isn't difficult and can be very satisfying.

What was the question? I say tie on a spook and start walking it. For me, its a lot easier in a boat than from shore or a kayak. In fact, I'm a LONG way from walking anything from a kayak. Try it with all your current set-ups and see what works for you. For me, its hybrid on a baitcaster, but I've done it with spinning rods, too....just not as well.

I have an Orra SX that I like a lot, but I probably wouldn't pay $100 for another. On the other hand, I got a Quantum Smoke 7:1 for under a c-note and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another at that price.

I tried drop shotting brackish water from bank and pier yesterday. Results: 2 lost weights; 2 lost baits and weights; one broken rod tip; 2 cut fingers on line pulling at the snags; no fish. Fishing is usually more fun.

I agree with RSM. Your future ex-girlfriend doesn't get that kind of 'control'...not unless you give it to her. Once married, I also agree that things are (and should be) different. After you're married, I pass on some advice that I read some time ago and it makes a lot of sense and 'usually' works for us: you and your spouse pick an amount above which, all 'non-necessity' purchases should be discussed and agreed to; be it $50, or $100, or $1000...depending on your disposable income,your habits, etc.

Fishing gear purchases are little different than any other non-necessities. I have the same conversation about any number of purchases; If you have made your purchase based on reason and well-thought out plans, considering what you already have and what you can afford to spend on this 'hobby, and you've taken impulse and irrational thinking out of the equation.... then you have every right to ignore those opinions of the the guys at the shop and sleep well with your decisions.

Thought I'd update in case anyone checks back through these for info on Diesel spinning. My my 6'10" became a 6'7" today. Busted fairly clean about half inch above first eye below the tip. Was trying to un-snag a drop shot. I won't say that I don't have some responsibility for the way I was handling it. However, I've only had one other spinning rod break like that in my 40+ years of using them....and that was a $40 combo rod.

Agreed. I felt a bit angry after I read that part. That said, I've usually found other great deals there, so it might be easy to get a full cart of deals including the senkos, but it was disappointing.

Not I. But if I were to guess, I'd say its those that can't afford to spend a whole lot on a combo --- they may want to have validation for their use of equipment that is far cheaper than most discussed on here. 'Equipment ***' isn't all bad, but nobody wants it to be consumed by it.

I didn't mean to suggest that either the reel, or the rod, was terrible. It was certainly not meant to disparage AG. I wouldn't expect any sub $100 combo (baitcasting or spinning) to stand up well for more than a season or two -- at least not with heavy use. As I said, I hope it surprises.

I have a 3-ring worm binder that weighs north of five pounds. I have a field pack that WAS a bank-bag, but is now pretty much all soft plastics. I have some 'never-out' plastics (Rage Bugs, Senkos, Flukes, etc.) in tackle box and a few more in gear-duffle. I have rubbermaid drawers and tubs full in the basement.

Sounds like a great reason to shop for a bigger back pack. Seriously, however....some less than random thoughts -the packaging is a royal PITA....for storage...for retailers...for shippers...for anyone that has to handle it -Keitech MUST know this -the packaging HAS to be much more expensive than 'regular' ziplocs -they choose to package them this way anyway I can only think of two possible conclusions: 1. The baits are better off in the clamshells - and action will be affected if you re-bag them 2. Or, it makes no difference how you keep them and Keitech only sells them this way because fishermen believe that the baits must be better this way and will pay more/buy more There may be other possibilities, but not off the top of my head. Even though I'm a skeptical cynic, I vote for number one
