Homeownership, The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
I went the townhouse this time around. And, I'm not kidding about boat parking. I didn't have a boat when I moved here. Still don't. But, I'm very happy with the fact that my lawn is a total of about 20 square feet. I've done the large house and huge lot for many years. There is certainly the possibility of some satisfaction when it looks good. But, I tired of that. Now, yard work takes an hour or two per month and doesn't detract (much) from fishing time. HOA fees aren't too bad and the pool and tennis courts are nice. When we got a foot of snow, I waited for the plow to come through and then spent about 20 minutes shoveling. But, no place to park the dang boat.....

Abu Garcia Promax Combo
Well, duh...of course.... You ARE, the BaitMonkey By the way, stop by this thread at the end of this season - I wonder (and hope) that you still think that you got a good deal. But, I wouldn't bet on it.

Scents
I'm also in A-Jay's camp. Can't hurt. Some time back, I watched Bobby U video with bass hanging on to MegaStriked plastics for dear life - and there was no hook. I was hooked. I use MegaStrike and JJ's. JJ's as much because I like the smell and the chartreuse accents....not sure how the fish feel about it, but they haven't told me it sucks.

Just Had To Post...great Officer
I read it to say that he pulled back up the ramp to let someone else in ahead of him....even though he'd been there first. Nice gesture

Megabass Zero Hurry Jig
I need to check my jig box when I get home, but I seem to remember that MTB put a plastic jig in a box late last year.

New Experience To Me
Same line? Same rod? Aside from presentation, are you doing anything else different from last year when progress was slow?

Swim Bait Trailer

Megabass Zero Hurry Jig
Looks great. But, if I'm honest with myself, I gotta say that I will probably never be patient enough to fish it right.

This Is Nuts, Could You Have Done This With $125,000 On The Line?
Thinking more about it...maybe the bass are more like the insane gulls I was watching yesterday that were fighting over a stick. The more aggressive one didn't even really want it, but since the first gull had it, he was going to take it, no matter what. Once he got it, he flew off and dropped it down the beach.

This Is Nuts, Could You Have Done This With $125,000 On The Line?
Wow. Just wow. I agree...in fact, my instinct would have been to try to get the fish in the boat as fast as possible....I always have this uneasy feeling that a hooked fish is somehow communicating its distress to every other fish in earshot

Biffle Bug Vs Rage Structure Bug
I recognize that my experience was way too limited to make a good comparison. However, while I'm the most rational person I know, that goes out the window when it comes to fishing. I tried Biffle Bugs in three different colors on maybe a half-dozen occasions with no success. I routinely catch fish on Structure Bug - good fish and I have TONS of confidence throwing it in most any conditions. So, I enthusiastically vote Rage over Biffle....knowing full well that the Biffle is probably as good or better for others. I carry no fewer than four packs of Structure Bugs when I go out now. I've put all my Biffle Bugs in the basement for the time being. I will, though, give props to Biffle. Once I put a Structure Bug on the Hard Head, I really killed them. Now you can get a dozen different swing jigs, but Hard Heads were the first one to enter my consciousness and I love them.

Kayak Bass Fishing!
I was at a Dunkin Donuts drive through the other day and there was a big pile of milk crates. I asked the clerk at the window and she told me to help myself to a few.

Most Forgiving Line For A Baitcaster?
My trick for preventing backlashes on very old, sentimental baitcasters is to put them on display on a shelf in the house and leave them there. Seriously, you may learn a lot about how to use your your thumb effectively, but imo, not worth the trouble. The mechanics have improved so much that even if you have a very solid old piece, it is going to be much harder to work with than a late model.

What's Your Money Saving Tip For Fishing?
My idea of money saving tip for fishing is....Even if I only need a pack of hooks, I make certain that I have at least $50 worth of stuff in my TW cart so I never have to pay for shipping!!!

What's One Less Guide Going To Hurt?
Abu response was very timely. I got technicalitied - 2-year rod warranty doesn't apply, because combos only have one-year warranties. I will say that they have been very responsive and communicative. I ended up getting a discounted Veritas as compensation. So, I will get it repaired locally and have a new Veritas shipped for under $70. I wish it hadn't broke, but I'm not unhappy. To be honest...except for the breaking part....I've been surprisingly happy with that Orra SX rod. And reel, too. If the reel retails for $100, I got the rod for $20, essentially. When whole, it is an awful lot better than that.
