I Want To Try To Get Into Golf..
A big difference to me is that once I have the equipment you want (short of a boat?), you can go to a bank or rent a $20 boat and fish from sunup to sundown. If you're running a bit short close to payday and want to play five hours of golf, its going to set you back $50-$100...every time. It probably isn't right, but I separate the equipment/support costs from the 'event costs' in my head. But, you're correct - either is as expensive or as cheap as you make it. My clubs have been in the basement for 3-4 years. Sometimes I miss it a little...then I go fishing.

How To Effectively Fish An Area?
Maybe indirectly, but a lot of posts here will talk to your question... http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/154047-how-long-do-you-fish-a-spot-before-moving/

Newbie Motor Question
I am no help with your motor question, but if it were me, I'd be making friends at Harbin and Potomac Marine today....or someone else as good over on your side of the county. I like them both.

I Want To Try To Get Into Golf..
I used to be 'into golf'. Not enough hours in a weekend for both...at least for me. Fishing wins. Not quite as frustrating and actually cheaper, believe it or not.

Bad Hook Set
I can't speak for anyone else, but the RU credibility train went off the tracks slightly when he tried to shout down Catt and dismissed Glen Lau for no apparent reason, IMHO.

Stuck Wide Open
Yikes. I have no clue, but wish you good luck. Sounds scary. I had a trolling motor go to wide open on its own and nearly tossed me from the boat. Can't imagine how dangerous that would be with 60hp

Anyone Hit The Occoquan Reservoir Lately?
Saturday was brutal. Beautiful early morning, but when the wind came in around 9 or 9:30, it was over. I considered heading in then. Probably should have. One keeper - barely. I thought I was done for the weekend, but it was so nice Sunday morning, I went back out for a few hours. Only a couple short fish, but it was so nice, I didn't care much. Really I missed a couple of really good jig thumps and that was enough to keep me pumped. On the brighter side, I went home and worked on my dad's old Johnson 6 and got her running well. This is going to open up parts of the rez that I've only dreamed about.

Fish For The Cure Tournament At Lake Anna Va.
Sounds like a great day on the water despite the bite. I had a day like not as good as yours, but sorta like that yesterday. Couple of short fish and some huge misses - at least 7 pounders, I'm sure But it was a beautiful day to be out. Thanks for your generosity! For doing those tournys and for the donation!

Soft Plastics Help
Early in the season. Is it possible that your sense of the bite, reaction time, and hook-set improved as the day went on? Or, that the bass were more aggressive in taking the bait later in the day? Maybe the trick worm was getting picked at by blue-gills? As others said above, skin-hook those plastics - tex-pose, them: pull the point all the way through and then stick just the point barely back into the plastic.

How Can I Throw Lighter Lures?
What lure weights is your rod rated for? I'm going to go against the grain here and suggest you consider the ultra-light combo. I have 1/32 oz beetle spins and I don't care if I put 2lb test on my medium spinning rod, they aren't going more than about 15 ft. You can pick up an ultra-light combo for super cheap and see if it does you right. May not last into next season, but by then you'll get your money's worth and know if you want to upgrade to have a super light set-up in the boat.

Adding A Bait Keeper
- Football Moves
Um.....Pretty sure it was Colts+Luck=wrong end of 45-7 playoff score- Football Moves
Not a 'team' move, but what are y'all's thoughts on Chris Borland's 'retirement'? I'm not saying it's next big mile-marker on the road to the death of the NFL, but I do think that its notable. I commend him for being able to make the choice he thinks right for him. But, I do worry that the game could look very different in 7-10 years if they don't find a way for equipment to prevent head injuries.- How Far ...
Here to watch. These always get interesting. Holla, do you suspect that you aren't getting the distance you want/need?- Football Moves
I moved to the DC area about five years ago. I love a LOT of things about this area, but one thing that gives me endless amusement is how every Skins fan's best season is from February until the end of September. Go Pack! Re-signed Randall Cobb, Bryan Bulaga, Letroy Guion, B.J. Raji I'm ecstatic!- Some What New To Bass Fishing And Have A Few Questions
Lots of good jigs out there. I can't speak for PT, but there's about 500 members here who will tell you, as I will, that Siebert has any jig I ever expect to need. As to your set-ups, I think you're well equipped to handle most anything for now, however, I'd be looking to add a spinning rod very soon.- *** Water Bugs
I rarely target bluegill anymore, but I in the past I had a very difficult time with plastics other than 3" stickbaits. If I were going out today to fish for them, I'd take live worms and real crickets. Maybe a beetle-spin and tiny maribou jigs. I don't know why, but plastic bugs, crickets, etc just never worked well for me. For crappies, I'd use minnows, worms and small jigs. Good luck.- Hook Set For Soft Plastics
Have to agree. Sharp hook, tex-posed. As long as the gap is appropriate to the bait and drag is sufficient, I think it would be awfully hard to improperly set the hook. - Football Moves
