I've been using JJ's this year and really like it. I do think it makes a difference. But, I just got some Megastrike to try, too. After watching a video of Bobby doing a demo in one of those glass truck-tanks and the bass hung on for dear life to plastics without hooks sold me. I'll be trying it out this weekend.

I do not understand. At all.

That's pretty much the only way I fished senkos and ribbon-tail worms for years. I didn't know any better, but seemed to do pretty well. I will say that the fish I catch on them nowadays, on the bottom or hopping, are generally bigger than I averaged just swimming them along. I think it came from having come to bass from other species. I knew trolling...and then first bass fishing was with spinner baits....I didn't know any better --- but I will say that my wife still presents a lot of worms and grub-types with a fairly steady retrieve and often out-fishes me.

No question there. Don't expect to have both 'arms' after a half-dozen casts. Fortunately, the tails usually make it through a few fish before losing one, but every once in a while a short strike (or bluegill?) will take one off.

I also saw in the same magazine (and nearly every issue, I guess) where the 'Use/Don't Use' section says don't use xxxx, but a few pages later, a 'pro' says throw xxxx in same conditions. Was just talking with my wife about this last night. For just about every single suggested lure/presentation/condition you don't have to look hard to find 180 degree conflicting advice. If only the bass started reading BR and Bassmaster, maybe they'd start acting right

I'm with Bankbeater. Unless I can call it a 'dink', I'll lip it. I've started carrying a net in the boat ever since I got a treble buried in a finger last summer, but I haven't used it yet.

I just toss it into lay downs. Gets hit on the fall. Also have had hits just swimming it back for another cast.

Even before I learned about all the different 'specialty' rods, I always carried two, usually three rods; even if just bank fishing. If only for follow-ups or variety presentations in short succession: usually a plastic and a reaction bait in addition to one other.

I didn't know I needed a baitcaster until I spent some time here on BR. I'm glad I made the adjustment, but I did just fine for 8 or 9 years without one.

I have exactly one hour of experience with an A-Rig, so very little advice....aside from this: Be aware of your surroundings and careful around the big rocks. It's been a month, but I still agonize over having lost the $15 rig, 5 Yum jigheads and 5 Yum moneys to the depths of a (mostly) sandy lake.

Someone more adept with the 'search' function than I will have to chime in with some links.....But I've seen a couple links posted here on BR to studies about bass released from tournaments; one in OK and one in Northeast somewhere, I think. I found them fascinating -- what I took away was that some bass are homebodies and some are Magellan. I think one fish was caught 10 miles from release site. Most stick around. What I found most interesting, however, was a conclusion that while bass might haul bass up and down the shore, the vast majority don't ever seem cross the main channel. Afraid of heights, maybe? Or they just stay on their own side of the tracks, I guess.

Hope the old bump doesn't ruffle any feathers..... 5$, I was wondering if you got any more after the first two....and if so, were they any good. I just watched the first one last night and was pretty impressed. I'd assumed that I'd watch it and ship it back (free.) But, I'm wondering if there isn't some value in watching some more. I think the subscription price is awfully steep, but I liked what was there. Very old, however. I'm sure they're just recycling discs that have been mailed back for 10 years....keeping the overhead down, I suppose.

I got an Academy H2O Express 3 1/2 inch jointed shad a week ago. Only fished it once. Looks fantastic -- Caught a four inch bluegill. The action is pretty sweet. However, it seems hard to control. The speed window is fairly small -- too slow and it's not flappin or it's on the bottom. Two fast and it's rolling or skidding on the surface. I didn't have the patience to find the sweet spot, but I do intend to work on it some more. When it's moving right, it looks like it should be irresistible.

Probably whatever was working the most recent time out before I was forced to decide. I'm pretty fickle when it comes to bass lures. At the moment, it would easily be watermelon Rage Tail Cut-R. Has outperformed everything else in my boat this year...by a pretty wide margin. Three of my four biggest fish this year and solid numbers, as well.

No slop. Haven't tried fishing the really thick stuff yet. Never knew you could until I found BR. I've been reading up and bought a punch rig from Seibert, but haven't found the conditions (or confidence?) to try it yet. Makes me wonder if I missed some opportunities last weekend. Not to jack this thread - I'll make a new one to ask some q's.

Not much help.....I can only suggest that you NOT to get the BPS tube tender jig heads. Small gap; 'tube-holder-spike' too small to hold anything; not sharp.....total waste of money, IMHO.

Walleye Red Snapper

Spent most of my 10 hours on the lake Saturday experimenting by tossing beavers. VERY unscientific....but Rage Bug outfished Biffle Bugs, Reaction Innovations Beavers and and Pit Bosses by a pretty significant margin. Tried to match up colors fairly closely - Green Pumpkin for each. Everything on Owner weighted Twistlock 3/0. In cover...in grass...just off the bank. Even mixed in some Bama Craw -- which is much oranger than it looks in online pics -- an color that doesn't typically due well in this rez and it was also better than the others. I'm getting close to being able to pare down my 15 pound worm binder to just Rage Tail bugs, Cut-R's (and flukes).....not quite yet, maybe...lol...but, I'm totally sold so far

Add me to the list of satisfied long-time Cardinal owners. Bought a Cardinal combo in 2006 and it was my favorite light spinning outfit until about 2011 when I loaned it to my wife. It hasn't been back in my end of the boat since. I think her new Daiwa T/Aird rig will supplant it as her favorite, but mostly for heavier applications. I looked at newer Cardinals a couple of times, but I got a strong sense that the variety/range of the model may have diluted the overall quality...or at least confused the issue a bit.

I guess I don't see that they'd be worth less if he's sponsored by them. If allowed by his contract, it's fine with me for him to get fair market value for them. I don't think he should be obligated to pass on any sort of 'deal' to the forum.

FM, Earth was only pointing out that your post didn't make sense as written. There's enough differences and variables discussed here without incorrectly referring to something as basic as 'bait'. Why the hostility?
