Both of those places are better than Clear Lake for banking, but that is not to say that they are great. Also, if you are going to be on the base itself, there are a few lakes in there that have good fish. California offers a non resident 1 and 5 day license I think, not positive.

Berryessa or the Delta, both are closer to Travis than Clear Lake.

I grew up in the SLV and was just back there last week. The only places I am aware of that have bass are private farm ponds and reservoirs. There is a stretch of the Rio Grande that probably has some, near Monte Vista, but the only area there that I know has bass is again, private. Take some spooks, buzz baits, frogs, and spinnerbaits and fish the rio grande river around Alamosa for big Pike!

Russ, the above statement was made after 34 hours with no sleep. I stand by its intent. Tact may have been lacking however. For everyone else that doesnt realize it, I consider some of the guys that build swimbaits to be my friends. I know how hard it is to build them, how passionate they are about it, and I know that they arent making a killing doing it.

Dont worry Dom, its only a 3 mile drive, so falling asleep wont be a problem, when I feel sleepy, I just drive faster, for the adrenaline ;D But these people understand that the BBQ'er should always have a beer in his hand, so ill probably end up with a DD for a reason other than exhaustion. I'm a better drop shot fisherman than anything else. But I only use sissy rods when the fishing conditions dictate, not when I feel like playing fish longer.
