You will find most use FC , copoly or mono lines with a bit of stretch for spinner / chatter baits as having a slight bit of delay helps with hooksets for these baits .

Food for thought - I have a 6'6" MH Fast worm rod and a 7' MH Fast Carolina rod : Although most people use straight FC line for "bottom bugg'n" , If I used say #40 lb. braid to a 5' #15 lb. FC leader could I not get a harder deflection off of rocks due to the no stretch nature of braid ? *I'm thinking a MH Fast rod then becomes a Heavy Fast rod with braid + FC leader ?

How long has Zman been out with the 1/20th oz. shroomZ head ? ... Might be worth trying in calm conditions with a "no feel" retrieve .

Interesting to see how Tommy Biffle started with a 6'10" Heavy / Fast bait cast rod and now has moved on to a 7'6" heavy / Fast rod (not sure the original Biffle 6'10" heavy action rod is made any more ?) . I get how the wobble head / swing jig should be fished with the rod pointed down so the jig stays on the bottom and a stiffer action rod so when the wobble head / swing jig hits rocks you get a hard , quick deflection to product reaction bites . *The above said , what is your go to wobble head / hard head / swing jig / articulating jig head (or what ever else it's called ) rod of choice (i.e. length , heavy or medium heavy action) that won't break the bank ? ... Thanks in advance - mainly wondering if a super technique specific rod is needed here for success with wobble head / swing jigs ?

I have such large expanses of water to cover casting into deeper water then reeling towards shore I'll use the Tommy Biffle "Bottom - Bugg'n" technique and constantly reel with my rod pointed down . Seems more pros try to go with 1/2 oz. all times (under 15') , so I'll probably try a 1/2 oz. first and if I get hung up too fast or start to dredge I'll have a 3/8th oz. on deck to switch out . *For grins , I just picked up a new bag of Mike McClelland Competition Series Craw in Green Pumpkin at Cabella's which I want to try bottom - bugg'n with ... Looks like it could be a cool deal !

As the title states - I'll be fishing from shore (long , expansive reservoir flats and points with rock and gravel bottom 5 ft. to 10 ft. depth ) - key question is what size wobble head jig weight to keep the bait on the bottom with constant contact without "dredging" ? *I'm thinking it comes down to either a 3/8th oz. or 1/2 oz. ? ... Most often used baits will be : SK Rage Bug , Pit Boss , Baby Brush Hog , various craws (4") with 15 lb. AbrazX FC line and 7' MH fast bait cast rod ... Thanks in advance for recommendations !

Thanks for the replies ! I'm going to try one in a Bluegill pattern for now (Summer) in various conditions and see what happens ... In several weeks I will switch to a shad pattern (Fall) .

I often hear chatter baits are a cool / cold water bait only ... Anyone have success fishing a chatter bait in the Summer ? If so , please advise tips for success for fishing chatter baits in warm water - thanks in advance ...

Here's one you don't see everyday - seems a Chinese company came to ICAST 17 with counterfeit soft plastics which were displayed in the "new" products showcase (goggle to find) . Really sneaky how it happened : Last year at ICAST 16 the Chinese group distracted members of a well known soft plastics bait company while another Chinese member photographed the baits (most likely this process repeated itself with other well known soft plastics bait companies) . Next thing you know here at ICAST 17 this bunch from China show up with counterfeit copies of what they studied from the year before ! The Chinese folks responsible got a swift , firm taste of the American legal system as a result ... *Before exiting , I think I would have gone : "Bruce Lee" on a couple of the more vocal Chinese (just to keep my skills up) .

Wow - I buy from Gopher when I can and have had good service from the owner . It's a small operation in Nowhere , MN. where the son took over for the father - here's hoping nothing health wise has affected the owner / son !

Perhaps screwing the "M" sized CSP down a couple more turns in the nose would secure the hook better while still allowing freedom of movement for the Fluke ?

Not sure if they are a "2.5 or 3.0" series but lighter and better balanced none the less . If the Veritas action is still softened as with the 2.0 (versus the overly stiff 1.0) then could be a very nice rod for $100.

When your "M" size CPS pins are used up could you not just go down to a "S" size without the tubing ?

Team9nine , Bluebasser86 , etc. and other long time Mid West posters here were "genetically altered at birth" to be pre-disposed at fishing the Ned Rig : They have FORGOTTEN more about the Ned Rig then I will ever know , so when they post you should soak it up like a sponge !

Jitterbug & Hula Popper = Old School . I still have a fondness for a Jitterbug but not the Hula Popper ! ... Even in the early 70's when I fished it as a kid ,I never caught anything on a Hula Popper (lol) . I'd replace the Hula Popper with another popper + a feathered rear treble hook of your choice .

With respect to the 'Ole Smokey color Booyah frog I would think just like your transparent color top water baits where you don't want the bass to get a real good look at the bait perhaps most effective in clear water brighter conditions with calm to slight chop wind conditions . If the sky is darker, water is stained and higher wave action I would probably go with a frog darker / brighter to help bass find it easier . Then again - throw that transparent color frog in any condition and see what works !

A $99.00 Fluorescent Green (number after 12) bait cast & spinning rod won ICAST best of show in Orlando this week : Anyone know what the construction , action , weight , etc. that makes these new rods such a special value ?

Now this is a cool rod series - and the price is right ! ... The 7'3"MH moderate action looks about right for chatterbaits .
