+1 ... It's what I moved to a couple of years ago and I haven't looked back - works great on a variety of braid , FC and mono line sizes .

+1 ... This ^^ . If windy or great depth a 3/16th oz. is about the upper limit weight I will use . A 3/32nd oz. sees a lot of action as well as even a 1/16th oz. weight as the action will be more natural looking .

*The #1 Owner size hook Siebert uses is highly regarded on a Ned Head Jig . I also like the Eagle Claw 'Lil Nasty in a size #2 and even in a #4 size (1/16th oz. jig head) .

+1 ... #10 lb. to #15 lb. yellow braid + leader . Keeping a finger in contact with the line plus the visual indicator of a yellow line is the best of both worlds.

*You are covered - 1/8th oz. to about 8' , 3/16th oz. 8' to 16' and 1/4 oz. for deeper water . straight tail finesse worms in a small size (4.5" to 5") and larger straight tail worms (6" to 7") will serve you well ... Since in AZ. I would try the FAT Robo Worms in the short & long versions in colors such as : Desert Craw , MM III , Aaron's Magic or Watermelon Magic and Prism Shad would cover the bases for you . If you have aa Bluegill population - then a Bold Bluegill color would be added .

*I grew up just outside of Winter Park and used to fish the Winter Park chain of lakes launching at Dinky Dock : Lakes Virginia , Osceola & Maitland all connected by cannels - clear lakes with good grass and nice bass ... I miss those days !

*Bait Casting Tom ... Thanks for replies ... If a T-Rigged is rigged straight with a worm and un - pegged bullet weight on bait cast set up then all I can think of is reeling in too fast may cause a ribbon tail worm to spin .

*I would use the Z-Man small TRD until they are used up ... For the TRD TubeZ , try taking off a tentacle or two off the TubeZ and it tends to give a bit more action (i.e. frees the action up a bit) .

*Thanks Team9nine: For your typical 7.5" ~ 10" ribbon tail worms I would think a EWG or round bend off set worm hook would act like a keel (again , if rigged straight) .

*Many spinning reel users give up due to line handling issues with co-poly , mono and FC main lines ... Once you convert to braid main line + leader you will appreciate the applications a spinning reel excels at vs. a bait cast reel set up - and not just for finesse applications either ... I have a dedicated 7' MH / F action spinning rod with 4000 series spinning reel loaded with #20 lb. braid I use tied straight to a WP 110 with a double palomar knot I can throw quite a long distance .

I consider Academy Mettle reels to almost be disposable (at least due to price being less than $100) - I will send one to Mike at Delaware Reel Repair to clean & inspect to see what he thinks regarding any inter changeable parts possibility ? Who knows , with proper care along with regular clean & lube the Academy reels could last 5+ years or more ...

*I get that a T-Rig worm improperly rigged (i.e. not straight on the hook) can lead to T-Rig line twist . Interestingly , I have read recently that Bass Pros are stating they get line twist working with T-Rig applications . Now a Bass Pro certainly knows how to rig a T-Rig worm straight on a hook , so where is the additional line twist on T-Rigs with a bullet weight coming from ? ... Additionally, Bass Pros were stating they were switching more to jig head worms (Shaky Head / Power Shaky Head) to eliminate line twist they encounter with T-Rigged worms .

The Mettle series Academy reels are solid : One piece frames , brass gears and 10 ball bearings (with centrifugal brakes only) - clean / lube properly and they will last a long time . The Mettle M3 now comes in 7:1 as well (I picked up two on sale recently for $44.99 ea.) and previously have a couple of the similar M2 series in 6:4:1 which are good all-around reels as well . In the event parts are needed it could present a problem ... For my day in and day out favorites I will stick with Daiwa and Lew's bait cast reels (due to serviceability if required) .

*True - however as NYWayfarer indicated : If you know how to work around the shortcomings of the WP 90 it can still produce for you , so don't give up on the WP 90's you may already have . That said , the WP 75 is a cool deal as it has the same size prop as the WP 110 (another favorite) .

*Good information on the WP90 - will try similar technique on spotted bass down here ... My favorites are : WP75 , WP110 , WP130 (bone only) , Choppo 105 , Choppo 120 ... Bone , Translucent , Blue Gill and a Black in any of those models above .

*It's the WP90 , not you ... 20 lb. braid is fine with this lure .

+1 ... While I have tried other brands , most are lifeless and do not hold up as compared to the Z-Man TRD stuff . The longer you use a Z-Man TRD (or 1/2 a ZinkerZ ) - the better it gets .

For either a SK 8" Bull Worm or a Zoom Magnum Trick Worm - would the 5/0 Dredge work without the possible over kill of the big 8/0 EWG hook on the Meg ? ... *The 3/8th weight Dredge may be the deal for a big straight tail worm as I just remembered a Neko rigged straight tail worm falls pretty fast with much less weight in the nose .

Looking for weight suggestions for throwing a SK 8" Bull Worm / Zoom Magnum Trick Worm on a magnum shaky head / stand up jig in less than 15 ft. of water? Having used 1/8th , 3/16th oz. on a normal shaky head set up - I thought I would try 1/4th oz. size 5/0 EWG Swampers Edwin Evers Head Turner magnum shaky head , however 1/4oz. in this magnum shaky head appears rather small . While using 1/4th oz. magnum shaky head weight appears small perhaps it could work with above worms as a stand up / shaky head jig in shallow water (again under 15 ft. of water) ... Maybe stepping up to 3/8th oz. , 5/16th or 1/2 oz. is more in line with what is required to get a big worm to stand up temporarily on the bottom - or is 1/4th oz adequate with the big worms ?

*Who fishes a sapphire blue worm (besides Bill Dance) ? ... Not sure what water clarity , deep or shallow for that color ?
