A couple of tips : Using mono backing allows you to put on a "top coat" of approx. 60 yards of braid (saves money spooling) . Unless you are fishing around a lot of weeds or timber consider dropping down to #15 lb. as it will give you a little extra distance which still being strong . In open water consider #10lb. braid and wacky rig Trick Worms .

*How do you break off with #50 lb. braid ? (lol !) ... I just ordered the WP 130 Trifecta : Bone , Monkey Butt & Loon . I will also be doing some serious comparisons between the WP 110 and 75 along with the Berkley Choppo 120 and 105 before too long . *The WP 130 has earned a spot in the tackle box but the others will have to play their way onto the team . The WP 75 in shad colors could do a good job on Spring match the hatch size when bass are busting shad up top plus it has a larger tail for it's size to produce more surface disturbance . The WP 110 has it's fans but some say once you try the Choppo's deeper , longer cut tail you will feel the WP 110 is relegated to calm conditions as the tail just doesn't kick up the kind of commotion the Choppo 105 does (at nearly the same body size).

Due to the Yum Dinger's lightness , the only ways I use them are as follows : VMC or Owner Whacky Jig Head 1/16th oz. and 1/8th oz. VMC Drop Dead Weighted EWG Hook 3/32nd oz. and 1/8th oz. Punching / Flipping Rig : Rubber Bobber Stop , Tungsten Bullet Weight (pegged) , Flipping Hook . Neko Rig with Nail Weight in the nose. *For non - weighted wacky rig and T-Rig with light EWG hook the Strike King Ocho and Yamamoto Senko perform with a better fluttering action when sinking than does the Yum Dinger .

This rod comes in three versions : 7' M All Graphite 7' M Glass 7' MH Glass *Anyone have experience with these rods for first chatter baits and then second for 1.5 ~ 2.5 size crank baits ? ... I'm looking for a good quality , well made chatter bait / crank bait rod for under $120 . Never had a Tatula rod before - these Tatula XT Crank Bait series go for $99 at TW ... The Tatula MH XT Glass rod may be too heavy for crank baits (i.e. taper too fast ?) but I throw more bladed jigs / chatter baits than crank baits ... Thanks in advance for replies !

+1 ... I have two Daiwa Fuego CT reels - one in 7:3:1 and one in 8:1 ... Very good bait cast reels for under $100 !

Seaguar InvizX , Seaguar AbrazX and Sunline Sniper when the application calls for FC line to be used .

I bought three WP 130's in : Bone , Monkey Butt and Loon as these colors appear to be able to cover any conditions I might encounter . Other colors such as Blue Gill , I know It , Blue Blood and Phantom Shad I have in other WP sizes already .

It appears many Whopper Plopper sizes are good ... I have a Abu Garcia Veritas bait cast rod in H / F that I currently use only for Biffle Buggin (like that hard , instant deflection this rod provides to a Biffle Bug) - any way the WP 130 weighs 1.38 oz. which would be in the weight range of the 7' Veritas (gen 2) H / F rod but instead of #50 lb. braid that most people use with the WP 130 I am going to experiment with either #17 lb. C-XX co-poly or #20 lb. Big Game mono - both will give me a little more stretch when used with the 7' Veritas H / F rod (i.e. the white broom stick) . *MTF : Start with the WP 110 size - they are on sale at Cabela's currently ... *After further review , I believe the WP 110 & smaller 75 sizes may be the better option for me and my equipment ... I am especially curious about the new , smaller WP 75 size now !

*For those who "like to live dangerously" by using *Power Pro #20 lb. braid main line OR equivalent line diameter (.009" / .23mm / #6lb. mono equivalent) on a bait cast reel - explain your set up (i.e. rod , reel) and exactly are you using such light braid on a bait cast reel for such as which tactics / applications ? ... I currently go down as thin as #30 lb. Power Pro braid main line on a bait cast reel - but I'm ready to "expand my horizons" and the thought occurred to me may be missing an advantage if I don't consider dropping down to #20 lb. braid main line on a bait cast reel ... No , even up to 50% is doable ... Above that I usually change the diameter of either the main line or the leader to be a bit more similar in size .

I have a BPS 7'6" telescopic Flippin Stick in MH / F action .

+ 1 ... Listen to what Delaware Tackle recommends or stick with well known reel company grease recommendations !

#12 lb. Seaguar InvizX FC for me for crank baits and jerk baits .

It is not absolutely critical (within reason) to match leader and main line braid diameter . #30 lb. braid main line for me calls for between say a #12 lb. to #17 lb. FC or Mono leader using a carefully tied Crazy Alberto knot to join the two lines .

I appreciate the replies - I will ad that not only was I interested in the WP 130 size for LMB and Spotted Bass - the reservoirs I fish also have Striped Bass with large , wide open areas where I thought a WP 130 could be bombed out a long distance and cover a lot of water . As for color , I was thinking of getting a WP 130 in Bone color first as it may possibly be the best all - around color , then maybe a translucent color - not sure if I need a Black (Loon) color or not in the WP 130 size ?

I see a sale on line showing Whopper Plopper 130 size on sale for $12.74 ea. ... I currently have the Whopper Plopper in 110 I use in various colors for LMB and Spotted Bass - but was thinking of adding the Whopper Plopper 130 size in Bone & Loon colors just to have / try ... *What has been your preference / differences between the Whopper Plopper 110 vs. the 130 sizes ? ... +1 on the Daiwa spinning reels - best bang for the buck in spinning reels that are rugged , have great feature sets and are work horse reels that last for years !! The Tatula rods are a better value at their price point than are the Shimano rods - I definitely would give the Tatula spinning rod in a M action a try .

+1 ... I'm with Bluebasser86 all the way !! - I also use the regular Pad Crasher in the same colors when fishing in the spinach. On my very short list to try would be the Bronze Eye Frog in a couple of colors (only because I like / respect Arizona's Dean Rojas so much !) ... Just as much love for Jason Christie though as I have seen what he can do with the Booyah Pad Crasher and Poppin Pad Crasher Frogs !!
