+1 ... A finesse jig profile can weigh any where between 3/16th oz. to 1/2 oz. so both a spinning AND a bait cast set up can come into play .

Looking to buy an inexpensive fly or lure vice to accomplish the following : * Wire wrap existing jig skirts * Replace jig Skirts * Paint jig heads Thanks in advance for your suggestions / experience for the above !

From the videos I have seen since posting - there wasn't much action to the Trick Sticks ... Looks like something I would buy in Green Pumpkin & Black/ Blue T-Rigged with a 1/4 oz. tungsten bullet weight and pitch / flip to cover or objects . A "stick bait reaction bite" (if there is such a thing) ... I'll stay with Senkos , Ochos, BPS Stik - O and maybe Yum Dingers when I need more action in a stick bait .

I saw the Big Bite 5" Trick Stick at a new Academy by me recently - anyone use on a T-Rig EWG hook ? Curious how the action and durability is on the Trick Sticks - they are meaty looking with a nice price point ... My reference for stick worms are : Senko , SK Ocho & Yum Dinger ... +1 ... I also only use a "top shot" of FC of maybe 50 yards max. with mono backing and leave about 1/8" of spool lip space so as not to over fill . I use KVD conditioner on a clean rag and pass the line through my fingers as I spool . *Still , I don't like FC line on a spinning reel and only use it for shallow drop shot to avoid a bunch of knots - otherwise I am a braid main line to +FC leader fan on spinning reels .

I hit up a 20% of Fathers day sale for trailers and craws to be used on swim jigs and chatter baits in shad and bluegill colors . I also bought shad and blue gill Dirty Jigs Finesse Swim Jigs to try in 5/16th oz. *Did I need these things ? No , but they are a nice to have option as who can't use new jigs & trailers ? ... I just hope the shipment arrives before my wife returns home from visiting her relatives !!

*I see the YUM Christie Craw is gaining more attention and at $2.99 per pack it's cost effective . As a jig trailer , is a SK Rage Craw that much better at double the price ?

To dissect further - I wonder if you use the same approach to the 2.8" as you would the 3.3" ? Not a great difference in the length per se but the 3.3" is a little broader hence a different action possibly ? I use both on a small Zman Shroomz jig head (1/16th & 1/10th oz.) but may start to play with the little 1/0 EWG Owner Flashy Swimmer on the 3.3" (as long as it doesn't over power the 3.3") .

*I used to be I favored using the larger 4.3" and 4.8" Keitech FAT Swing Impacts , now I mainly use the smaller 2.8" and the 3.3" Fat Swing Impacts ... No special reason I started with the larger ones - it's just what I saw other people using and thought I should be too ? I think you get bit more on the smaller 2.8" and 3.3" sizes ... Kinda a Ned / snack mentality thing I guess where my confidence is up because I think I can coax any bass in to eating a snack , to a lesser degree it might be a match the hatch thing (not sure) but suffice to say those smaller 2.8" and 3,3" Keitech FAT Swing Impacts are deadly !

If you are snagging , drop down to a 1/24th oz. or 1/32nd oz. jig head and use no larger than a #2 hook size . I have some *Gopher made mushroom heads that have a smaller **#4 size hook that are very good in snaggy conditions . *Gopher Jigs filled a nice Ned Rig niche - unfortunately I believe they may no longer be in business . ** I've seen Ned pictures where he has Bass hooked with a #6 size jig head hook - to Ned a #2 size hook is large !

+1 what he said ... Dobyns actions run a little light for rating , so don't be scared off by the 4 power . I have a Sierra 734c. and it is the best all-purpose rod I own !

*I recently examined a Favorite rod at DSG for the first time and wasn't impressed for the price point - I could do better with several other rod brands at the same price .

I just bought a Sierra 703sf spinning rod (different guides I believe from the Furry) ... I'll have to check my Daiwa 2500 reel with 15 lb. braid to see if I get line slap when casting and reeling . I had a Shimano 2500 Sedona that sat too close to my hand and would rap my knuckles on retrieve - I replaced with Daiwa spinning reels which sit a little further away from the rod than the Shimano did which solved the problem ... *What brand reel are you using ?

+1 Dobyns Furry or Sierra 703 would be very good for both techniques ... Having a 702 for drop shot and a 703 for wacky rigged stick baits would be even better !

+1 ... The YUM 3.5" Pulse swim bait is very under rated ! I also found out that the SO (sponsor) standard or XL Midwest Finesse jig heads in 1/16th to 3/16h oz. with #1 or 1/0 Owner hooks are outstanding (great color selection too !) ... For the FAT Swing Impact 2.8" I like the standard size Midwest Finesse jig head in 1/16th oz. to 3/16th oz. and the #1 size Owner hook ... Best jig heads going for small size swim baits !

*You make me feel better when I shop a sale of soft baits & terminal tackle I just have to have , going over the cart three times to remove items after a critical review - then still having a cart total North of $100 !

I saw the new Enigma Atomic 29 crank bait rods for $79 - anyone have experience using / owing one ? ... At the low price point you could have a couple different lengths and actions for cranking without breaking the bank .

Thanks - Looks like the 6:3:1 is best used for constant retrieve baits / reaction bait strikes : Spinner Baits Chatter baits Crank Baits Swim Jigs Smaller Swim Baits I suppose you could also add poppers , dead sticking a Senko or slowly crawling a T-Rig worm or a jig on the bottom as well ... While using your rod to move a bait usually pushes you up in gear ratio (7:1:1 or faster) these lures are slow enough that a slower gear ratio doesn't affect you so much ... Still tends to be a case of the right tool for the job (with some over lap of course) .
