  1. I'll fish with anyone, but I'd love to share a boat with Avid and Rolo to start with 'cause I'm sure I could learn a thing or two in an afternoon with those guys. Road Warrior and Glenn because I always enjoy reading their post. Anybody who post under the name Low Budget Hooker's can't be all that bad, so he'd make the short list as well.
  2. I have yet to find a pattern or anything that works so far this summer. I had a pretty decent post spawn run there for awhile and was starting to get a lot of confidence in my fish catching abilities. I've fished the last two weekends and I've been blanked both times. It seems the fish just won't bite. I'm finding fish near drop offs or points, some are as shallow as two to four feet. Some are as deep as 20+ feet. I'm throwing everything but the kitchen sink at them. Buzz baits, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, jig-n-pig, dd-22's, topwater stuff, you name it, I've probably tied it on over the last two weeks with no success. I'm headed out again tonight to fish a tournament. I hope I have better success.
  3. Bassin' is my favorite. It's the only one that I subcribe to. I don't really follow the pro tours all that much and I like to learn something from the magazines and Bassin' is pretty much geared towards educating the angler and I like that. I read Bassmaster sometimes too. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's okay. Eventually I'm going to get around the subcribing to it.
  4. I'm probably worst with Tubes, followed closely by jigs. Tubes I really haven't given very much of a chance and I really need to take a bag of them and go out and just work them. Jigs I fish nearly every time I go fishing, I just don't have much success.
  5. Me and a buddy had a great night of fishing last Saturday. We fished from 4pm-to-midnight. We never caught a fish until around 10pm, then it was on. We probably caught around 15-20 between the two of us. Nothing of any real size but we sure had a lot of fun. Here's my favorite Lures for night fishing: Black Buzz Bait Black/Blue Jig n Pig Jitterbug Headden Torpedo (I think Cotton Cordell makes a knock off of this that's pretty good too) Black or Black/Blue Spinnerbait Black/Blue Chatterbait Early Morning Favorite: Zara Spook, Super Spook or Super Spook Jr. Black, White or Chartruse Buzz Bait Hula Popper Pop-R Poppin Image Spittin' Image I haven't had much success this year during the early morning. I've only been out at night twice this year and the first time I didn't catch anything. As others have stated, I've had more luck this year between 10a-2p.
  6. I'm gotten an interest in painting my own jig heads that I use on grubs etc... What kind of paint should I use and where do you guys get it from?? I've also thought about painting up a few worm weights to match a few of my worm that I will T-Rig from time to time, any suggestions on that paint?? Thanks!!
  7. I agree with Gloomisman, i just want to have a good time. Sometimes I go and do nothing but work on just one lure or a certain type of presentation. Other times I go and I'm a little more serious about catching fish. I just love being on the water and if I've got the company of a good friend that makes it even better. Catching fish is just a bonus to me.
  8. Excellent post L-Rod, I'm going to have to try that with my sunglasses at home with the kitchen floor.. As far as sunglasses go, I've never been one to spend a great deal. Currently I've got a pair of Renegades (el cheapos from Wal-Mart), I think I paid $11 or $12 for them. I lose sunglasses, I've managed to keep these for a few months now. I don't have this problem with anything else, but I can never keep up with my sunglasses.
  9. It's about 5-10 minutes from my office and about 10-15 maybe from my house. Man, I feel bad for you guys who drive so far to fish. I guess I take for granted the lakes here in southeast Tennessee.
  10. Rods: Quantum or BPS Reels: Quantum Line: Trilene or Stren Cranks: Norman and Rapala Jigs: Booyah and Strike King Plastics: GYCB & Zoom Hooks: Gamataksu Spinnerbaits: Stanley Top Water: Zara Spook
  11. I love the mountains and lakes here in Tennessee, however I would love to fish in Texas or Florida.
  12. Depends on a lot of factors but just being general here, if it's early I'll go top water and will usually have all of the following tied on at some point: Spook (or spook jr) buzz bait hula popper pop-r Poppin Image Spittin Image If it's the afternoon's I probably lean towards either a spinnerbait, crank bait, super fluke or senko. At lot of it depends on where the fish (deep, shallow etc...), the structure (rocks, wood etc...) and weather and water conditions.
  13. I'd suggest you start with the articles on this site. Plenty of great information for the beginning bass fisherman. You'll find you can learn alot by asking questions on this site and reading the threads. Other than that I agree with the above post, just grab a bag of plastics and some hooks and have fun for a morning or an afternoon (or both).
  14. I agree with Avid, I've had success this year with the yo-yo retrive on the Chatterbait. Either a yo-yo or a stop and go. I haven't had any hits on a steady retrive...yet.
  15. I caught my first senko bass this weekend. Please help, I feel myself falling for this addiction, the bait monkey is already trying to lure me to the tackle shop today at lunch to buy another bag in a different color....please help.
  16. I caught my first bass on a senko Saturday morning!!!!!!!!!!! Black senko, T-rigged, working it along the river bank in some pretty nasty weeds. Pulled in a 2# 14 inch LM.
  17. I'd suggest that you check out the articles on this site. Plenty of articles on night fishing. Some good info there.

Welcome aboard, enjoy your stay!! You'll find the folks quite nice 'round here.
  19. I'm seeing them at my local Dick's Sporting Goods. I also heard that they will be in Wal-Marts any day now.
  20. I'm just getting back into bass fishing this year after being out of it for about 15 years. I'd suggest you start with the articles on this site. Better than any book I've found. Plenty of articles here geared towards beginners and helping you seperate what you need and what you don't need.
  21. Here in Tennessee, we have a "Free Fishing Day" every year. This year I think it's in June. This is for anyone to fish without a license. I think they have a an entire week where anyone under the age of 18 can fish without a license. In-state License in Tennessee is $28 Out of state is $41 There is also an additional fee for Trout. I think you have to have a license if your over 13 or 14. Under that age you can fish without one.
  22. I've just got a subscription to Bassin'. After buying a few issues at wal-mart I figured I might as well go ahead and subscribe. It's only $9.99 a year. I like the magazine because of the tips and gear reviews. I don't really follow any of the tours and I'm really not interested in reading about it. I want a 'zine that will help me be a better fisherman and Bassin' has great "how to" and instructional type articles. I may subscribe to BassMaster someday but right now it just doesn't appeal to me very much. I don't like Field and Stream and alot of the other outdoor mags because they focus too much on either hunting or fishing for other types of fish. I'm primarly a bass or crappie fisherman. Speaking of Crappie. There is a special offer in Bassin' now where you can get four issues of Crappie for only a penny. I've never read croppie so I went ahead and sent in my penny. I figure it's worth a shot.
  23. I enjoy fishing with someone. I'm not much of a talker when I fish, but I do enjoy having someone to jaw with before and after. I really like to fish with someone whose more experienced than me, because I enjoy picking up some new techniques etc... However, I'm finding that I probably need to just start going alone. Too many people have too many excuses and I don't like having to wait on other people. Also, I hate to cut a trip short, if I'm going I'd just as soon stay all day.
