  1. The KVD three pack from BPS is great. I love those. "Pitchin' To Heavy Hitters" is my favorite. This time of the year I like to watch Tommy Martin's "Trap'n' Bass" and Stacy King's "Jerkbait Fishing". I only got a few videos but I like the ones that I have.
  2. I have a 5 1/2 ft. Berkley pistol grip rod from the late 80's. I bought it new at K-Mart around '87 I think. I bought a small Quantum baitcaster for mine and I use it for rat-l-trap some and some top water lures like buzz baits etc... I fish with it alot when night fishing and also from the bank. I will use it to skip docks etc...
  3. I've picked up a few shakey head worms this winter and I hope to be able to get them wet here in the next few weeks. I've picked up some trick worms and also some zoom finesse worms to use with this technique.

  5. I've always thought you have the best screen name on the site, and that's because I spent so many days with a Zebco 202 "ZeeBee" as a boy. I will never love another reel as much as I did that one. I'm in my mid-50s now, and even though I sometimes confuse the names of people I love, I still remember the exact feel of unscrewing the front of that reel to clean out all the sand I used to somehow get in there. I wish I had done what you did, and kept that reel. WOW! Thanks, very cool story.
  6. The first fishing reel I ever had was a Zebco 202. As a matter of fact I had two of those reels as a child and I still have both of them. Only one of them works. This was also the first fishing website that I have ever been apart of so I decided to use the old 202 as my moniker.
  7. Hey guys, I think I'm a bit late here but I make skirts as well. I'm sending PM's now, so if you guys still need anything let me know.
  8. Deadsticking = the way I fish senko's most (if not all) of the time. just toss it out there and let it sit for awhile, maybe give it a twitch or two and let it sit again. It's not a technique for everyone but I feel like it works at times. I don't ever do it in a tournament (but I probably should) I'm too much into the 'run and gun' type of tournament fishing. sometimes i think i really need to learn to slow down.
  9. KVD is the man!! He's awesome, I love to watch him fish. His instruction vids at Bass Pro are excellent teaching tools.
  10. Another vote for the Baby 1- I also like: Storm Wiggle Wort Bomber Square A Bandit 100 & 200 series I just bought my first Lucky Craft Pointers this year. I have yet to get them wet but I can't wait to try them out!
  11. Let me inject my 2 pennies worth in here. I have a BA in Communications and I'm currently working towards an MBA with a concentration in Marketing. I'm the Marketing Director for a large financial services company and I've worked in the media/marketing/advertising industry since I was 17 (I'm 33 now). Would a business degree help you as a professional angler? Yes, as others have said fishing would become your business and you would have to treat it as such. When searching for people to endorse your product, I think someone educated and well spoken would have an edge over some one who isn't, if everything else is equal. Would it give you something to fall back on? Yes it would. Although I would encourage you not to limit your sights to just an Associates degree. When interviewing people for even entry level positions with our company, I don't even call those with Associates degrees. You need a BA or a BS as a minimum. That's why I'm back in school more than a decade after graduating the first time to try and get an MBA. Even with a ton of experience I'm finding that a lot of doors are closed for me professionally because i don't have an MBA. As far as the University goes, I don't think that it matters. When interviewing possible employees I'm not so concerned with where you went to school. I'm more concerned with the fact that you finished and what relavent work experience that you have. So don't get too caught up in the fact that your not going to Harvard or Yale. Start at a local community college, get those General Education courses out of the way and then look to attend a nearby four year school. You could also look for established four year universities with a quality online program. I would avoid the "online only" colleges. A lot of those have come under fire in the press recently and I'd hate to spend the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and be left with a worthless piece of paper.
  12. May God bless and keep. Stay safe and we will all be looking forward to hearing from you soon!
  13. I might also suggest Red Bull. that stuff has helped me out the last few weekends I've been fishing after some late nights. Good stuff, I drink one every couple of hours in the morning and then switch over to Mountain Dew in the afternoons, keeps me going through 8+ hours on the water.

  15. I don't subscribe to any, i just pick them up while i'm in the bookstore. I prefer Bassin and if I was going to subcribe to one it would probably be Bassin. I think it's also cheaper than Bassmater as well. If I'm not mistaken I think Bassin' publishes 10 times a year. I'm not sure about that though.
  16. Hey Burley- Those KVD Videos are good. The 3-pack from BPS for $10 is money well spent. My favorite is "Pitchin To Heavy Hitters". They are educational and they are also fun to watch when you can't get on the water. I've also got Stacy King's Carolina Rig video, Tommy Martin's Lipless crank video and his Deep Grass Jigging video. Those are the only ones that I have. I enjoy them all. BPS had one of the Tommy Martin vhs videos on clearance for like $4.95 or something here recently. it's worth taking a look at if you've got the extrta cash.
  17. Good idea Lubina. I'm going to give this a try my next time on the water.
  18. Jig Rat-L-Trap Fluke Pretty much in that order.
  19. I'll ditto what others have said. This site has really been a big help to me. I love reading the articles and I enjoy being able to ask questions here in the forums. I've really learned alot that has made me a better fisherman, I only hope to be able to pass some of that on to others.
  20. 12 people for me. I hope to fish with a few more the end of the year. 8 hours on the lake with someone and you can really get to know them. Never really had a bad experience, although there are a few that are not my "first choices" to fish with.
  21. Those KVD videos from Bass Pro (3 for $10) is a heck of a deal. Well worth the $10 and you can learn something as well. They've also got Tommy Martin's Deep Grass Jigging VHS on clearance for $4.99. Good video as well.
  22. Roland Martin, Orlando Wilson and Bill Dance When I was a kid I used to love to watch fishing shows. I don't know why but I remember that they used to show Roland and Orlando on TBS and I would watch it ever week. My dad didn't fish so until I was a teen I had only fished a handful of times. When I was a teenager I had a couple of friends who were really into fishing so we used to go alot after school, so I guess I owe them some thanks for keeping me interested and teaching me a thing or two. After having not touched a fishing pole in more than a dozen years, a friend here at work turned me on to it again this spring. Since then, I've spent a ton of money (i've bought about 11 or 12 rods and reels this year), caught a few fish but most importantly I've made many a new friend and have some lasting memories of some fun times on the water.
  23. All of the above. I think I've probably done everything that's been mentioned in this thread, at least once. A few weeks ago I took off early from work to go fish with a friend of mine, on one of my first couple of cast, FISH ON!! and a nice fish too, I set the hook and began to reel in when I pulled the reel right off the rod!! I didn't have my baitcaster tightened down on the rod. I quickly had to put it back on the rod and tighten it down and then proceed to reel in the fish. Thankfully I don't think my buddy saw it. If he did he didn't say anything. If he did, I'm sure that I would never hear the end of it. LOL. Once while night fishing I thought I was cutting the tag end off my buzz bait when instead I cut the main line and tossed the buzz bait overboard. Oops! I've also forgot to open the bail on my spinning reel. I feel like a "reel" idiot when I do that. I've also casted the spinning reel and had the lure go forty feet in the air and then come back down about 5 feet from the boat. Dork!
  24. Junk fisherman. I throw everything and anything.
  25. I have a deep diving berkly crank, a lipless crank in fire tiger and a top water popper. I don't fish them very much at all. I do like the lipless crank and have caught a few on that one before and will use it from time to time. I have a pack of the Bungee worms that I was given. I don't think I've ever used them. I have ordered a 100 count pack of 10" power worms in Tequila Sunrise. After reading the reviews in this thread, I'll be interested to try out the power worms when they come in.
