  1. if your going to buy a reel from lews get the gold carbon spinning reel its their top of the line reel
  2. HANDS DOWN THE JOHNNY MORRIS SIGNATURE SERIES, ITS THEIR TOP OF THE LINE REEL, THE CARBONLITE IS LITE ONLY 5.9 OZ
  3. if you cant afford to get another line, don't get one, dont get pressured. i am a college student as well and trust me you'll be fine with mono, another thing. you dont only need to focus on northstar or seib jigs, there are cheaper jigs on the market that are as good if not better
  4. i might be buying a baitcaster soon for my flippin and pitchin, lets see how it turns out
  5. set the hook very hard
  6. that happened to me with a circle hook, i was fishing for redfish and the d**n mullet swam towards me a i stepped on it
  7. i never done it, i was thinking about doing it,and i dont think is dumb. im actually going to buy a baitcasting combo for my flippin n pitchin
  8. from what i heard from other people told me that a big adult female bass will never hit the same lure twice. the small ones maybe, they get smarter as they get bigger. if thats the case we will be breaking records all the time
  9. you can throw jig with a spinning gear.
  10. 4000 size Spinning reel 8 feet Spinning rod XH XF 65 to 80 pound suffix 832
  11. if they are made by daiwa, they have to be good quality
  12. Its called a mickey mouse knot google it. its the best knot for crankbait trust me we use these knots to catch 50 pound snook
  13. st croix has lifetime warranty, im not sure if dobyns rods has...
  14. you got my attention when you wrote Florida bass. here i come....lol....first off let me start by saying that north FL is no different than south FL. i fished both. second i dont care for season because i have caught bass with every lure on every season, it just depends on where and the presentation, fast or slow? because you can throw a gambler frog and in summer and get every bass close to it but winter it seems that frogs in the open works better. if you catching small bass then try big baits, i always say that 10 pounders in Florida are normal than other states. your best choice baits would be frogs, big worms, beaver style baits, flippin jigs and gold spinnerbait. summer i fish dark baits and winter i fish lighter baits. temperature doesn't matter that much because for the past 3 years we had 90 degree winters. unless we have that killer cold from 2010
  15. this is good information, and i have to agree with you guys. i will do another tread on spinning vs baitcasting soon. this is going to blow up because i know that 95% of people of this forum use baitcasters and i use spinning 100% of the time
  16. its not good to take long breaks because it affects your skills, let me explain, for example if you stopped fishing for a year and returned to the same lake or body of water, everything can be very different then the last time you saw it, this happened to me before and you dont know where to start, the Technic that you used a year ago might not work in another time you returned, you have to stay active in that body of water, do you think kevin vandam would be as good as he is if he stops fishing for a while or takes a long break? hope this helps
  17. I agree with some of you guy about ande line, it it outdated in the bass game-field but it works for other situation, i also agree with rods, but it depends on what... if i get a very light uglystik and use light braid, i will feel as much as a 200 dollar rod.. i do believe that it depends on your set up because if you buy the most sensitive rod in the world and it can even cost 1000 dollars and you use heavy mono and setup all messed up it would not matter the cost. so i do agree with some of you guys,. (HOWEVER)-when it comes to reels i disagree 100 percent. think about this------- the legendary and reliable shimano curado = $150 was a extremely well built reel made in japan (NOW) is cheaply made and is not made in japan anymore and the new curado is now the chronarch =$200 and now with this new chronarch ci4+ $270.... my point look at the old popular curado and now look what it turned too. it went from 150 to 270... whats next 350?
  18. you can youtube it, everybody is different but i would use that 6'6 rod and put 30 to 50 pound braid and jig it hard
  19. seaguar makes the best fluorocarbon in the world, but if you only want to use mono then get ANDE mono
  20. I understand, that being said, I had $500 rods (steez) and lower dollar rods. I believe its all an opinion and preference because i feel that there is not much difference, the same goes with reels and line. its a mind thing, everybody thinks that a higher price tag item is better than a lower price tag item. its getting to that point that these companies and manufacturers are abusing and taking advantage of people. for example shimano used to be cheap a good quality now with this new ci4+, i mean its still good and couple of ounces liter but come on!!! almost 300 dollars and more, give me a brake. you have cheaper stuff now that will outlast these expensive equipment.
  21. it seems like a 7 foot rod medium heavy is the most popular rod today i hear this constantly all the time, this makes me wonder
  22. spinning = daiwa aird or lexa baitcaster = aird, exceler or tatula
