  1. I'm a one handed side armer...
  2. Ordered a Yak-Gear Deluxe Anchor Trolley, and a Yak-Gear 3lb folding anchor kit. Should be getting it tomorrow. Will be a great weekend project... HELLO YAK APE!
  3. An 12" kayak is way too small... no wonder it isn't stable.
  4. Took the Yak (FeelFree Lure 11.5) out for the first time today ... What a day, a windy day. I'm gonna cover some points I realized and noticed with this yak. 1. Don't use the highest seat position on a windy day, you lose your center of gravity when you get blown into something, and you try to use your paddle to push off. Yes I went into the drink. Luckily I didn't have any equipment on the Yak cause I was doing a test run. 2. I did stand up plenty of times with no issues once I figured out the best foot placement. 3. The Shoreline Marine smart phone water proof cover from Dick's works awesome, How do I know? see point number 1. Plus I can actually speak and hear clearly through said cover. Pictures come out clear thru the cover also. 4. Definitely need an anchor trolly to use with an anchor, Stake out stick, or drift sock. Had to do the uncontrolled drift and fish. 5. A rudder will help tons 6. Need to find or buy a crate, fishing tackle bag in the yak sucks. It wasn't as bad as I thought to turn around, and grab a tackle tray out of from the rear. 7. Wear a Crocs, sandle or a type of foot wear you don't mind getting soaked, and that dries fast type of footwear. 8. Definitely get cross bars for the Xploder roof rails, and get a real yak rack. Foam blocks blow. 9. And I ain't catch $#!][ 10. Did I tell you it was windy...
  5. Yeah it's the NRS Chinook. All they had was Orange, and I figured it will be a good visible color for safety.
  6. It has the "Oh Shmit" look on it's face...
  7. Just bought it today after I demod it. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/149282-kayak-bass-fishing/page-12#entry1775631. J Francho I wanted to demo the Ride 115, but it was just out of my price range.
  8. Looks like you layed it on a bed of greens garnished with parsley...
  9. Just got this today, and I'm pumped The FeelFree Lure 11.5 Took it out for a demo on a windy and rough choppy day (probaply the best way to demo a yak). For a first time yakker like me it paddled pretty well in these less than ideal conditions. I even stood up in it in the wind and chop, and let me tell you awesome stability. I jumped around in it, simulated some casts. Even paddled with it in the high seat position, and its runs nice. Did almost turtle when I was standing, but the thing didn't want to flip even when taking on water. I thought I was going over but it's stability just kind of flung me back in my seat.... Luck maybe And my son trying it on...
  10. Check out Feel Free they have covers similar to that, and I think it comes with those type of rod holders.
  11. I use the Hoo
  12. Don't matter to me, I just adjust accordingly. A 1/4 oz Arky jig with some type of plastic rigged on it keeps it on top of the muck pretty much all the time. Up here in most of the places I fish has muck bottom, you just need to hop it.
  13. Set the tension to where the bait drops with no over run when it hits the ground, Then I would start with 2 whites on and the 2 blues on, and then try it with one blue on and two whites on.
  14. You think 15lb Copoly would be to much.
  15. What type, for 4"-5" soft swimbaits I.e. Sick Fish, Flukes with 1/4 oz swim bait hooks
  16. What does that mean "secondary stability"?
  17. Got these at Dick's yesterday...
  18. I'm gonna be demoing a Lure 11.5 and the Coosa in a couple of weeks. What your saying about the Coosa is that it Isn't great for standing? Hmmm, I like to stand also... might make my decision...
  19. Yes, I made my adjustments. Thanks
  20. Just realized this, DUH! My Digital scale said 3.19lbs so almost 3 1/4 lbs. I shall correct my fish story
  21. My PB at 3.19lbs on a Siebert B2B 1/4 oz Arky w/ a Havoc 3" Pit Boss trailer in Watermelon Orange Fleck. A Top Water Frog fish... A dink...
  22. Had an awesome day today. Caught my PB , and the first top water frog fish of the year. Caught them at the same lake I've been catching consistently at the past few weeks. There was some sparse pads grown in so I decided to throw the frog, but only caught the one. My PB is whole other story. I was fishing a little Island on the lake which consists of a beaver abode a couple of rock formations and some brush. To get to it you have to cross a ghetto beaver bridge which consists of a several loosely laying together knarwed down scrawny trees, across a shallow 4ft wide "moat". Flipped my jig in some laydown timbers feel a bite set the hook and snag said timber. Had to free spool and walk back off the Island to the other bank so I could free the jig from the snag. I get unsnagged, and see this girl with a male about six feet in front of me. I let the jig fall from the snag and start fishing it with a hop hop pause, Then see the broad go to it and inhale it, not pick it up to move it, but inhale it. I couldn't believe she ate it because i thought I spooked her. She was about 4 feet in front of me in about a foot of water when she took it. To weigh her I had to go all the way back on that Island to get my scale cause I had left it there. I had a death grip on this fish lip as i was crossing that ghetto beaver bridge . This year has been the best prespawn and spawn fishing for me so far. Last year this time I only caught a Rock Bass by accident, and a 7 inch LMB... Caught her on a Siebert 1/4oz B2B Arky with a Havoc 3" Pit Boss trailer in Watermelon Orange Fleck. Now to shoot for 4lbs plus *UPDATE* It came to my attention that my digital scale literacy is lacking. So the weight of my PB is actually 3.19lbs so almost 3 and a 1/4 Lbs Meh... ...But had a little beer belly... The Frog Fish... Aaaand Weighing in at 3.19 lbs... MYYYYYY PEEEERSONAAAAL BEEEEEEEST! And her long ways
  23. If you want a good paddle check out Bending Branches, or Adventure Technology. The latter actually makes an adjustable paddle that extends an extra 10 inches or cm that would work great with a Kayak that has adjustable height seating. They both have good paddles in the 150 range. That's what I'm looking at once I get my Yak in a couple of weeks.
  24. I must be doing something wrong...
