  1. My Pad Crasher has holes in it from a few toothy critters, and I can't even walk it that great cause of my non dog walking prowess. I porpoise all the time and I'm still getting blow ups.
  2. Great shirt, goes good with the CB stuck in you chest.
  3. If you have frogs try to hit the Lily pads and weed mats. Bass will be in there staying out of the Sun.
  4. I would pee myself if I caught one that big.
  5. And where is this said golf course? I went by one yesterday and saw a nice virgin to me pond which looked promising, but there were signs all around it that said no trespassing private property, or for member use only. So in pretty sure your breaking the law getting on that golf course.
  6. Thanks. Yeah, I was using the fluoro leader for abrasion resistance because of all the rocks and small boulders that build up the Dam embankment, but maybe I don't really need it. Next time I'll go without it, and make sure to check for wear after every few casts To me personally I liked the way the set up handled, and was budget friendly. I wouldn't know what a cranking stick would feellike anyway. That's why I put "my" crankn' stick for what I put together.
  7. Caught these bad boys today, on the same lure.
  8. Went to a resi today where I never have any luck catching bass, and is the bane to my existence. Plus I went because my son wanted to go fishing. So I took three rods with me, and headed to the resi. I started with "my" crankn' rod which consists of a 6'6" M F Fenwick Eagle with a Lews SS1S 5:4:1 winch loaded with 12# Trilene Super Strong XL, and a Flouro leader. I know you are probaply saying to yourself, mono on a rod for crankn'? I'm only using shallow divers, in this case the Manns -1 in Baby Bass plus I need the mono stretch to compensate for the fast tip, if that makes any sense. Started fan casting at a boat ramp, or for this resi a canoe or kayak ramp. Three cast later I catch this: I was like "Are you kidding me this place gives me no love, its the same as usual." Headed onto the dam, and I see yearlings and baby bass all along the rocky stone embankment. So I'm thinking this might be good. So with the same set up I started casting perpendicular to the embankment, and then my retrieve stops. I'm thinking I got snagged into some underwater branches, so I sweep my pole to the side, it gives, continue crankn', and then I see this bass jump out of the water. I was in shock, but immediately I lower my rod so I can keep this bad boy from jumping again, and try to spit the lure. Once I got him corralled, and in my hands I see how well the treble hooks were hooked into him. I grab my fish grips, some pliers, and unhook em'. Weighed him at 2 1/2 # Where the hell did my chin go? I think "my" crankn' set up should work pretty good for the shallow divers and square bills. I think if I went with flouro all the way, and with that fast tip I would of lost him. This will also give me the braggn' rights that I've caught a bass in every body of water I went, to target bass specifically
  9. Yeah, you're right its Northern its actually a little SW of me I'm actually in NE NJ. The lakes near me are good, but its tough getting bank access. The lakes and ponds down in Rockaway have much better access.
  10. Caught these today with the frog. Went to a pond that I been to once when I was a noob, and that was a year ago. The first one scared the $#!7 out of me when it blew up the frog. The second one blew it up pretty good too on a different part of the pond, but not as hard as the first one . I was also trying to avoid a snapper that kept on going after the frog in the same spot. Tell you what, it was a little tough out there they weren't hitting much, and I lost a KVD 1.5 square bill in a tree. This guy destroyed the frog, and looking at the guy behind it... needs to cut back on the twinkies

It happens, but we always come back for more.
  12. Nice, I'm up here in N NJ, would take a good 45 min. to get to where you are which isn't a big deal. I'm heading to Rockaway today, and I'm gonna hit some lakes of Green Pond RD.
  13. I figured I will put the mono on for the stretch, cause of my rods F action, and a Flouro leader for Abrasion resistance plus sinking ability.
  14. There are several of us Joisyans on here.
  15. Alright, Its gonna be on a BC
  16. Welcome aboard , have you checked out the New Members area?
  17. Are you being sarcastic?
  18. I have a 300yd spool of the 12# Super Strong XL Smooth Casting type. I don't even know if its Mono, but I believe it is. Is it good enough to use with Square bills in the 4 FOW or less range, around timbers and what not. I'm gonna be using it on Fenwick Eagle 6'6" M/F with a Lews SS1S 5:4:1 reel. I'll be doing it from the bank. Also should I treat it with some KVD Line and Lure.
  19. What I hear allot around here is always try to put the most money towards a good reel. That's what I try to do, but I shop around and look for the discounts. Some places have their own name brand reels such as BPS our Cabelas which are pretty decent.
  20. I hear ya, I'm The Same way. That's why before I buy anything at a certain price range I check out the customers reviews. Also I always try to find discounts or sales.
  21. I haven't had issues with not getting bites, I've been having issues with the fish staying on the hook. I feel the ticks, feel the hits, see the line move, and see the line twitch. I get the hook up, just sometimes the fish spits the hook, and that's on me, and not my gear. I'm sure the higher quality rods have the extra feely quality, but I'm not a tournament fisherman so I'm good with what I have.
  22. I'm in the same boat as you are, I have a fam and have to be budget minded. For some reason I'm drawn more to the Cabelas brand gear. I have 2 Fish Eagle 50 MH F casting rods an 7' and 6' which go for about $90 each, An 7' HF Tourney Trail EVA split grip casting rod for $65, 6'6" MH/F Pro Guide spinning rod for $44 which is going for $29 on sale right now. Recently I bought 2 6'6" M/F Fenwick Eagle casting rods from Dicks that go for $60 each, but I got them for $50 each using my reward points and or 10 bucks off for anything 50 bucks our more coupon. Last but not least I have a 5'6" UL Ugly Stick for 30 bucks. All these rods have done good by me, and once I become a professional I'll move up to the really good and expensive ones.
  23. My mistake, left out that detail . a casting rod. St Croixs are nice but a little rich for my blood. Should of clarified the price detail also . I can find them in the higher end rods, but they seem to be tougher to find in the less than a hundred bucks end rods.
  24. I can vouch for the Pumpkin Black flake. Dip it in some clear JJs....
