What's the most you would spend on a lure?
I dont like to spend big money on lures"I'm Cheap",I'll take that back I have Scottish blood in me I'm Thrifty. Really, 8 bucks or so,I like the discount bins at NBS you can get some decent stuff for 4or 5 bucks. I will probably break down and buy a LuckyCraft just to keep in my tackle box cuz it says Lucky,so it must be good karma.

Car Paint Help
If the rust is just on the tailgate and hood. You can remove them, sand blast the rusty spots and repair as needed,if the rust goes all the way through you should really weld some metal in there. You can probably find a hood and gate for that in the bone yard, and have them sprayed to match. I guess it depends how much time and $$ you want to put into it.

Trolling motor for jon boat
I was just looking at WallyWorld. They had the 50 for around $220 and out of stock at That particular store the 40 was around $170.Minkota's I was thinking about upgrading my old 28 Minkota on my Crawdad. I think the newer versions dont draw on the battery as hard,as the old ones.

Atractants and flavored plastics
The Yum/Gulp thread got me thinking about this.I'm sure there is some reason they came up with salt as a bass attractant.I dont think someone took a bite of a tube bait and thought, jeez this is tasty but it needs salt.Funny but it probably didnt happen like that. I was lookin around the local tackle shop today,I cant remember the brand but they had coffee flavored,I think they were tubes. When do you throw them in the morning? Then switch to salt and beer flavored in the afternoon? Just a thought, thats been roaming around my head.Kinda like why is there Maple syrup.Did somebody see sap leaking out of a maple tree and think, that looks really good I think I'll give that a taste.

Using Braid in clear water?
Rolo was making some good points.I dont use braid, but was thinking about spooling up a heavy cover rod this season with it.I'm thinking now I may try it in other situations.

For all you tackle junkies,i am looking megabass
Northern bass Supply, sells some Megabass lures,I dont know if they have that one. They do sell on-line.

Yum and Gulp...
I've wondered about the salt "attractant"too.I as a rule use plastics that feel the softest to me.Most of them are salt impregnated, and have salt on the outside.I wonder sometimes how much of that is snake-oil salesmanship. I've even dipped baits in Epsom and Kosher salt to see if it made any differance,I haven't noticed any yet. Anyhow I use Yum Chuncks as a trailer on jigs all the time.I have not tried any Gulp stuff

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
Weather guy says,by mid week we could be well in the 60's. I haven't fished yet,did spool up some fresh line though. Stopped in Northern Bass and poked around ,they have Hilderbrant spinner baits in the cheap bins, some Rapala DT's,and some Excalibur jerks,in the 5 for twenty dollar bins. They also have a big kinda cool lookin LC display, looks like a big aquarium. I will definatly get some line wet sometime this comming week, probably at Powwow, its the only place local thats open.

Broken Fin Fishing Fools
Big-t ;Glad your doing well.Cancer is,is a tough and sometimes lonely thing to deal with, even with family and friends around. Yesterday,is one year, since I had surgery for colon cancer.Six months of chemo later,a few CTscans and last week a follow up colonoscopy.I seem to be,for the time being cancer free.I have another CTscan next month sometime, and hopefully all my other innards will continue to look good. The day they remove the port thats installed in me is the day I'll really feel confident I'm gonna beat this thing. If any of you folks are dealing with chemo, and want to vent,or just talk.Feel free to post or PM me. peace jim

Do you carry concealed?
At that I think I should get off this thread I'm way to opinionated about this topic :)

Do you carry concealed?
AB/Micro; Thats the problem, right there.Your a responable gun owner(I assume)There is way to many A--holes out there that give responsable folks a bad name.(screw the spell checkI'm worked up... :-?) I know that alot of states require qualifacation,I think all states should...I also think that once you qualify your license should be good where ever you are. Ya know that old guy is probly gonna be in some trouble for what he did ,he reacted without thinking first..But take a minute to think about what he was defending. He was defending his neighbors property,at that moment he wasn't thinking of himself, only his neighbor.Maybe if there were more folks like him around, there wouldn't be as many people willing to break into your nieghbors house...

Do you carry concealed?
I live in New Hampshire, you have the right in this state to carry open, without a permit. To carry concealed you need a permit in NH.Your permit requires that you fill out an app at your local PD. they run a criminal background check on you ,and they have to inform you within 2weeks if you are denied, with a reason, and you have the right to appeal to the state.(so if you dont happen to get along with the chief,he just cant deny you cuz of personal reasons.)In NH you do not have to have a handgun license to buy a handgun, you do however have to pass the state background check, that now just consist of a call to the Dept.Of Public Safety, who will usally call back within ten minutes or so. I'm a gun guy,My brother and I were brought up that way from our Dad.We learned safe firearm handling at a young age, guns were never scary to us.The people that have never been around shooting sports or hunting are the ones who are afraid, and only see firearms as a weapon.Granted firearms are a weapon of DEADLY force, particularly in the hands of a criminal or somebody that has no idea of what thy can do and how to use them.So as much of a pro gun guy that I am,I'm definatly in favor of background checks. And frankly I wouldn't mind seeing people that want a Conceal Carry license to have to pass a Handgun saftey course. That being said I also think that in this age of high speed info that if a LAW ABIDING CITIZEN who has been granted a conceal carry permit, they're permit should be valid in all states in the US,One shouldnt have to read up on the laws in each state regaurding they're right to carry, they're life is worth no less no matter were they are...

Favorite Line for Plastics and Jigs on a Baitcaster?
I've been using P-Line Evolution 10# on my plastic's rod.I like it, its much limper than CXX and still very strong.

Do you carry concealed?
I've looked at at few Glocks and Sigs, never fired one.I'm kinda old skool when it comes to handguns,I guess.I like revolvers Blued, particularly Colts, they did a nice blue.actually I prefer all guns blue(dont know why)I just like the older stuff. The bluing doesn't look as good on newer guns to me. I spose I should get with the times an try out some of them new fangled guns... :

Do you carry concealed?
In use to lug a gun all the time, but I was working at a gun store.I harldly ever carry now,cuz the kind of work I do.I install floorcovering,it dont work out with a gun on,also the customers get a little uneasy ;D But when I do,in the warm weather,I have'ta go with the Colt Dec. Special.or the S&W mod.36. Colder weather,I'd go with the Colt MKIV 1911 or the Colt MKV Trooper. Exercise your rights as law abiding citizens of these United States of America.Do not let THEM take away your rights...

Falcon Low Rider

High speed reels ?
I have a couple of Diawa HST's that are ok , For a relativly inexpensive reel.I also have a 50mg that I love,so I tend to lean towards Shimano when lookin at new reels. The reason I was thinking about a 7to1 is getting the bait up and out of the junk fast, back to the boat. Also to steer fish up and away from the junk fast.Maybe thats overthinking things a little.Primarily the rod/reel will be used pitching and lobbing baits,in and around blowdowns, stumps, etc. One place I fish often has a lot of lilypads,I look for slots and areas to cast into, what I like to do is overcast the spot burn the bait over the pads then let it fall into the slot, when you hook-up in there you have to get the fish up quick, cuz they will just tie you up. I wanna go fishin now thinking about that,we still have ice up here > thanks jim
