High speed reels ?
If you were to dedicate a rod reel combo to heavy cover would you go with the 7.0.1 reels? Just thinking about a reel pairing with a MosseybacK 7'1"hev.fast rod I was looking at.I was considering the Curado DHSV7to1 reel. What do you think about that combo for pullin fish out of heavy pads, trees, etc.? Shimano is offering a $50 rebate on that reel and the rod is on the rack from last year, so I can get the rod for 175 and the reel after rebate would be 150.I thought that wasn't to bad. thanxs jim

The most beautiful lake in New England
I think allmost any lake your on has its beautiful moments.I'm partial to the ones up north that have the mountains as a backdrop.Like,Tamworth at the base of Mt. Chacoura(sp?)..My buddy has a camp near Fryeburg Me. on a little pond I dont remember the name, just a small pond. His back deck faces the pond and behind that is the Presidential range, its just a stunning view, particularly in the fall.We had to go up a few weeks ago to shovel about 3feet of snow off the roof. What a sight,if you like snow, the whole place was just buried in white,Peacefull is about the best way to discribe it. 8-)

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
I dont know how far you have to park down that road? One of my best friends lives not even 5mins from there.I could allways put a boat in and park at his house its alittle far to walk but on a bike you could do it in probly 10mins or so.Better yet I could have him drive me ;)He doesn't really fish. I have a couple of friends that live on Powwow,They allways me tell to just park at their place and put in there.I dont bother cuz I just have a Crawdad boat so I can pretty much put that in anywhere I can get close to the water, its not on a trailer.

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
lPa1nl,You've been ticketed for parking on NewBoston Road?I've fished that place for20plus years and not got a ticket.Unless your thinking about Country Pond?they will ticket there,it aint right, thats a public launch you should be able to park along that road. The RESI's want the place to them selves.Thats why the launch is posted with "Wilder's Grove Beach Assoc."so people think thats not a public launch. In a way I cant blame them, its getting alittle congested around the pond and the people that live there do pay a tax premium to live on the water.I know I allmost bought a house there. However it still doesn't give them the right to close a public pond,or restrict access like they do. Really the Public Boat launch should be on the other side of the pond, off of Pond Street ,past the fish and game club. The town could put a small lot there, and there is less houses on the corner where Pond St, meets the pond.

boat rebuild threads that helped you
I've been looking through as many of the rebuild threads I can,for ideas. You folks have put together some really nice rigs. Things that help, the more pics along the way the better. Things you wish you may have done different. Tons of great info, here.I hope to be able to add some if I can find a good deal out there on a boat.

Small Boat rebuild/restore threads
LBH;How stable do you find that for standing and casting?I was looking at a Lowe1235 today, not real old,a good overall boat. Twelve foot ,I'm guessin the 35 is the width.I was thinkin on doing something similar to yours simple and functional. The guy was askin 400 or B.O.. He also has a 14 foot V-Hull,older boat,on a trailer, with a 1990 25hp Merc.2700 bucks(kinda high I thought)Anyway my brother is lookin to sell his bass rig and down size to a homespun V-hull,and I was thinking about a jon-rig.Wadda ya think would be a good BO for both boats, the Jon is sittin on top of the V-Hull? This question probly doesn't belong here, but it will wind -up being about rebuilding one or both of the two.

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
I stopped by Powwow today,it looks wide open. Some of the shady coves probably have some ice but the main drag is open, you could put a boat in there.I didnt fish I was just taking the dog for a walk and checking out the local ponds.People were still ice fishing on Greenwood pond.(don know how safe that is) Kingston lake is still ice, cept at the public launch, maybe 10 or 20feet out.Country pond is still ice as I can see from RT 125,I didn't drive down there.Wont be long now...I may fish Powwow tomorrow, just have to get my lic.

Any Gun folks?
I dont really have alot of particulars on the gun, just a pic and brief description on the web site. The guy has several Colt 1911's ranging from1100 to 1600 bucks NIB stuff.this one was $795,not bad for a GoldCup.I called the place and left a message on the machine,no reply yet. The site is Steve Barnett fine( guns or arms ?)..its a nice looking shop in the photos and he seems to have a bunch of nice high end stuff.

Any Gun folks?
I was looking at a Colt seris 70 Gold Cup Nat.Match on- line. The gun has a bushing type compensator, did they have to modify the slide for that?I'm not sure?I would like to return the gun to original,I'm not sure if it had to be cut for that. The price seemed pretty cheep for that gun so it makes me think its not a reverseable mod.

Tube Bait 101
I try differant things with tubes, some effective some not so. Mostly t-rigged or texposed weightless, sometimes I stick a splitshot inside them if I want them to sink a little faster, the next way would be on a Venom Deathgrip rattling jig head. I use to weight them with worm weight to throw them in the lillys and such, but I like the Fat Ika better for that now.

Satisfying the monkey with a flippenstick
I been looking to get a combo flip/pitchin rod for jig fishing heavyish cover. I kinda narrowed it down to two. 1. G-Loomis Mossyback bcfr863. 7'2mh, 1/4-3/4oz ,14-20lb. 2. G-loomis FrogRod fgr863c. 7'2mh,3/6-1oz,10-20lb. The Frogrod is kind of a broomhandle(surprisingly light for its look) but its a bit less expensive than the Mossyback. Any other suggestions would be appreacheated..

Baitcaster for Weightless Senkos
Shimano50Mg,on a 7'mf StCroix Legend with 10#P-Line Evolution. I throw all plastics on that set-up.

Best all around line
I switched from CXX to Evolution this year and really like it its much looser and seems just as strong. I,ve been meaning to give the Yozuri a try but I never see it around here.
-
want to try a new line
I've been using P-line Evolution latly.I like it,much more limber than CXX if your use to using that, and it seems equally as strong.

NHRA Drag Races ..... Who's been??? My first
I used to go quite a bit,I haven't been in a few years.I live about 5or 10 minutes away from NewEngland Dragway. A buddy of mine raced there in the grudge matches,I helped him work on his car (62Dart,dualQad Maxwedge built on a 440block).I had a 69Dart ragtop I changed from a six/auto to a V8 4 speed car. Had two motors a 1958 392Hemi and a 1971 340 Xhead. I never wound up getting either motor in the car or raced it before I sold-it. My buddy passed away and I kinda lost alittle interest after that.

Most effective Rapala
I guess the Original is the one I've caught the most fish on.In general I think the Rapala line of baits for the money is outstanding.I use the DT series,Shadraps,Huskyjerks,Glassraps, pretty much all of them for different situations.

St.Croix telescopic rods ?
Anyone tried these? I been thinking about a jig set-up (flippin/pitchin) rod. I looked at either the St.Croix tournament 7'6" mh flippin rod or the GLoomis 7'3"mh Frog rod.The Gloomis is not telescopic but the St.Croix is,are there any problems that happen with a telescopic rod?I've never owned one. I was thinking about pairing it up with a Diawa Luna.

Not so sure color matters
One pond I fish quite often,if you have a bit of chartruse on the fish will bite.I use the 913 Senkos with the chartruse tip they never fail.I've run out of that color and tried others and not had nearly the amount of fish unless I dipped the tip of the tail in chartruse Spike-it. (Now thats a run on sentence)
