  1. For me. I have a rod for it. I dropped it and had to send it back for touch up. Cement is bad for reels. Anyway the blue one fishes. It also has upgrades and all the goodies. The other one has it all also. I just don't have the heart to put it out there. It came out so perfect. Went together great and is perfect. So it sits, waiting its turn. I am in no hurry to bring it out. Maybe next year
  2. Kicker. That is one sweet reel. It looks real tough. How did you drill those holes so perfect? Very nice.
  3. Awesome tip. Thank you . I tried a aftermarket star drag. It was really expensive and I did not like the fit. Now that I know those will fit aluminum will be installed ASAP . Here is a pic of the first one
  4. Hooligan those are some sweet reels there. But I have to ask. Core or the jdm twin. I have a Aldebaran. I bought a aftermarket spool and mag brake set. I love it Any differences pluses minuses.
  5. It's a curado /chronarch hybrid. So it's a .....curarch lol. Started as a curado e7. Spool and other black accents are chronarch e-6. The hawgtech handle totally makes it . Paint by Paul Smith/Pizz customs. Then of course all the internal upgrades. Drag, bearings, massage ,wash and wax Took awhile but it came out great.
  6. There are many ways to remove bearing grease. I have seen it a time or two. I use lighter fluid and then compressed air from my little compressor . Just another way to accomplish the same thing. Bearings I beg to differ. If I was a pro baseball pitcher and I could find a way to throw 90mph fast ball with a flick of a wrist instead of risking arm and shoulder fatigue thru the use of a different bearing isn't that considered a performance gain? I guess all bearing sales to fisherman, rc racers, bicyclists, etc are wrong then. When you mature more you will appreciate less effort for the performance you want. Can't stay young forever
  7. Wow. If I ever need blood from a turnip I will call you. If bearings look that bad replacement is a def consideration. Stock bearings are cheap upgrades better. Some may call my way wasteful but I take no chances with equipment. There are no maybe fish. When I go for it the equipment in my hand is near bullet proof. If a bearing needs that much work then odds are it's bad. Spend less time working more time fishing.
  8. Personal preference is personal preference . Use what you like. My way is faster, less labor intensive, and quick, and no tooth brush. I also use a ultrasonic cleaner have any homemade or lowes stuff for that I am looking for a all purpose cleaner any ideas?
  9. 7ft med/hvy colmic rod, curado200e7,12lb mc coy, 3/8oz mc coy v twin white spinnerbait no trail or caught 3 in 2hrs all nice sized
  10. That cleaner sounds good it ought to work good for the loose parts on a tear down. As for bearings. Lighter fluid like rosinol, zippo, etc. contain naphtha it pulls dirt and contaminant out of metal a good swirl and soak and you are done. The big pay off is it leaves no residue. After they dry check bearing be sure it's good. Swirl and repeat if needed. I like to clean the bearings first. While they dry the rest of the reel gets evaluated and serviced. Lube prior to install. These cleaning ideas are old but very effective I learned most cleaning and tuning when I raced slot cars. The same principals apply with reels. It is all in the set up.
  11. Any reel you buy will last with good maint. Curado I gets the nod here,or a new scorpion.
  12. I can t stand it. Abec7 bearings even abec5 increase casting distance, spool smoothness, and overall put a supercharger on your reel. This upgrade is a big jump in performance. If you are not good at casting you will never see any difference. It's not for everyone. I have seen first hand the difference and can say its big. For the most noticeable gains a supertune is a great help. All my reels have abec7 or 5 depending on what it's for. Drag set is a no brainier if you are already in there. There are many ways to get bearings, Boca, Hawgtech,Dads ol Tackle, smooth drag, HP bearings even sells kits. If you are happy w your reel the way it was when you got it,then clean and replace. Remember quality does not cost it pays. But it's not for everyone
  13. Looked all over and stumbled upon Hawgtech. Back then the straight handle was all they had . Now the swept handle and anodized parts. The handles are excellent quality and I looked, I now have 11 all together. I buy a new reel or build one and immediately order a handle. They fish awesome and look really trick. Thanks guys
  14. Curado I 179.99. This reel has a lot of great stuff in it as well as great blood line. A champ in the making
  15. I cannot wait to supertune that .
  16. If you look closely it' looks line the new chronarch ci4. Turning the other way from curado to chronarch back again. Have to wait and see if the braking sys is the same or something else. Any pics of the other side
  17. Bps stuff is a noticeably lower quality. I would rather buy 2 good lures than 4 cheap ones. Quality does not cost it pays. It may take a little longer to get a collection but you will have good tackle.
  18. Cals drag grease is just as it says. You can use it on everything. It is excellent. As for a light oil. Try 321. I read about it on a super tuning article in here and ordered some it is great. Those 2 are all you need
  19. Also 1 more thing to use the chronarch star drag you will need the brass nut and spring that fits it. Thanks for positive remarks guys. It was a lot of work to get the parts together but it learned a lot also like all the pics lots of cool stuff out there
  20. The paint job is a Pizz. Replaced the spool w a chronarch e7 It has a slight blue hue. Gears are all new shimano. All friction parts are polished and lightly lubed. Chronarch level wind tube , line guide, thumb bar, and drag knob are black so those have been installed. On the inside a full set of abec7 bearings. Carbontex drag set, The handle I found by chance on ebay. The spool brake cover ,line guide pawl cover, and line guide rod in blue from hedgehog studio. All gears are polished and this is now a super tuned fishing machine.
  21. I just finished this build. It is a curado 200e7. Has some chronarch parts custom paint, full Abec 7 bearings, all parts basically new from shimano, a few pieces from hedgehog studio for some bling a handle. Smooth as can be Can't wait to try it. Putting it on a Colmic 7 ft med heavy rod. Look out fish
  22. I work on curado 200's all the time. I buy some used and they always feel great. I open them up and some are really worked hard. They clean up great and I could probably put the same parts back in but I don't. I super tune and polish. Put gears in them and they are like new. They just don't look it. That kind of quality is hard to find these days. Most people just go buy new ones but the E series is very bullit proof. I work on other reels also and there similarities but most of the reels other than shimano have something wrong with them. Quality stuff
