  1. Well we have our dates. We are headed to Florida February 1st thur the 8th, we're going to my brother's in Venice first then we are headed to Roland & Mary Ann's the 3rd and fishing with a guide the 4th and 5th then back to Venice to fish with my brother on the Gulf for a couple of days. If any of you guys live close to the area we're going to be in I would love to meet you. I have goal is to meet as many members as possible. I'm really looking forward to this trip it's one of my bucket list trips.
  2. Looks like we are going to try and go the second week of February if I can get the dates locked in this week. Lunch or dinner sounds good, anytime works for me just let me know.
  3. Thanks for all the info.
  4. Ok Florida guys a buddy and I are planning a bucket list trip to Lake Okeechobee. We need some advice on the best area to stay, guide services and best time of the year to come down to maximize our trip. Any help would be appreciated. And if I can a chance to meet some of you guys.
  5. Found some schooling bass chasing shad, picked up a few doing that. Did alot of spot jumping the guy I was with was prefishing for a tournament this coming weekend. Finished the day with about 20 most in the 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 pound range. I think he has a plan well until he gets there Saturday
  6. My Kerr Lake trip fell through so the wife and I are headed to Chesdin in the morning. Hopefully we will have a good day my wife will be calling the shots tomorrow so there's no telling what we will be doing, hell it can't be any worse then what I've been doing lately. Full disclosure if we do well I'm talking credit because she is learning from me? by the end of the day we may end up bream fishing because that's her favorite fish to eat. No matter how we do its going to be a great day because I'm going to be on the water with my favorite fishing partner.
  7. Looks like North Bend where ever that maybe.
  8. My buddy and I went out for about 5 hours this morning caught 7 total 2 around 3lbs the rest barely scorable. The water temp is still in the upper 70's.
  9. Yeah I'm thinking it's a ground issue also. I'm going to see if I can find the problem this weekend.
  10. I'm going to Kerr Lake on Monday with a couple of buddy's I've never fish there before could anyone let me know what to expect this time of year. Both the guys I'm going with has fished there before and have more bass fishing experience than me and nothing would make me happier than to put a whipping on them on water I've never fished before. Do to the fact that I'm going to be a coangler x2 I'm only talking 2 rods and a small amount of tackle so if I could get help narrowing down my selection that would be greatly appreciated.
  11. I'm not sure where to post this. I have a 1987 xr2 black max 150 when I came back to the boat ramp yesterday the motor wouldn't turn I tried pulling the kill switch and still wouldn't turn off. Does anyone knon where I should start digging. I'm thinking it's a ground issue but not real sure. Any insight is appreciated.
  12. I went out for about 4 hours yesterday afternoon didn't do much caught 3 biggest one was 2.02 The water clarity was great but the water temperature is still in the 80's
  13. Well the follow up went very well. No post surgery issues the test results on the removed lymph nodes all came back negative ? so there isn't any treatments needed at this time. However the cancer was considered stage 3 aggressive cancer so they will be keeping a close eye on it for the next couple of years. My first PSA level check is in six weeks and if it's anything other than zero I will have to start radiation treatment but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. For now the focus is on post surgery recovery so I can get back to work and more importantly back on the water which should be next weekend if all goes well ? I don't want to miss the fall feed up.
  14. The fever must have burned some brain cells I wrote the above post around 5 this morning but I didn't push the submit reply button.
  15. Sorry for the late update. Sam no one should be up this early unless they are going fishing. The surgery went well the doctor did say that the deceased area was larger then expected so he removed has much as he could and took tissue samples of the surrounding area for testing. I should get those results Thursday. I was able to go home the next day as planned. I've been doing ok no real pain however very sore and tried. Having the catheter has been a bit of an annoyance but just sitting around the house it's not to bad. I've had to sleep in my recliner because laying flat on my back is just to uncomfortable. The only issue I've had so far was last night, I started running a 101 fever yesterday evening for about 3 hours the wife was getting ready to take me to the emergency room but it started to come down around 7:30 and is back to normal this morning thank goodness. All and all I'm doing good not to excited about the post surgery report but luckily for me my wife and I have the same mind set, one step at a time, we are focus on surgery recovery and then we'll take the next step.
  16. How do they taste? ?
  17. Yeah what he said. I fish in there often but I still trim up and idle in and out.
  18. "Zero" but to be honest I wasn't really fishing hard I just wanted to spend the day on the water. I used the time to teach the young man that works for me how to operate the boat. I feel that your co angler should know how to run the boat enough to at least get you somewhere for help in case of an emergency. I let run the trolling motor 90% of the time so he spent the day throwing a finesse worm in the grass because he caught those two big ones that's in the picture above doing that, so now I've got to convince him that there is other ways and places on the lake to catch fish. However after spending the better part of six hours throwing his little finesse worm in the grass it might not be to hard? As far as that route that is marked in that picture I have never been that way but I do know there isn't much water over on that flat and there is some stumps along the edge of the old river channel that you would crossing over. When I get home I'll send you a snap of the trail I have saved on my Navionics map. Hell for that matter if I'm feeling up to I could just show you the end of next week in person. Surgery went well and so far afterwards is going well. Hopefully I can get some food in and out of me tomorrow so they will send me home. I'm laying here in bed watching my wife sleep in the chair "God bless her she is great" Sorry for the long post I'm bored
  19. If your using a bait caster it will take alot of practice but if you watch your lure as it get close to the water thumb the spool and lift your rod tip up this will almost bring your lure to a complete stop in the air and the closer you can do this to the water the softer the entry you will get. This technique works great for flipping/pitching. As far as spinning gear I only use light lures anyway so it doesn't seem to be much of an issue for me. Oh welcome aboard this is a great forum for all things bass fishing and many other things. The guys and gals here are great to chat with.
  20. I'm going out there tomorrow to give them one more chance to stretch my line before my surgery on Thursday.
  21. Once you learn how to get up there it can be some good fishing especially around and in Winterpock swamp and it a good place to get away with the crazies on the weekends.
  22. I am talking to her right now trying to get them to to head west with the dog and the 4 cats. She said they are going to make the decision in the morning, nothing like waiting for the last minute.
  23. I'm starting to get a little nervous my daughter lives in Vero Beach they got everything boarded up and strapped down yesterday. This is going to be their first hurricane since they moved there. She said if they get mandatory evacuated they're going to head to the West Coast to Venice where my brother lives hope she doesn't wait too late.
  24. You can get up in the the upper end of the Appomattox above Lake Chesdin Campground but you have to be carefully getting from the Campground to the river it can be tricky
