Dad got hooked
About 12" of 80lb braid and two key rings. I've used it 3 times only once on myself, I think it's a must have tool especially if you fish alone.

Dad got hooked
I recently did the same thing and had to use my hook pulling tool I made. By the looks of that hook placement it would have worked good and saved a doctor visit a good day on the water.

Day on the lake
Had a great day on the lake yesterday with my favorite fishing partner (My Wife) we caught alot of fish nothing big or picture worthy but we had a blast together. I am so grateful after 31 years we still enjoy every moment that we can spend together. On a side note as part of helping to control my stress level she has prescribed a standing order that I have to go fishing a minimum on once a week. I Love Dr. Dee (My Wife) not a real doctor

Its official I'm hooked
Actually I made a tool 2 years ago posted a picture on here of it. it's 2 key rings with 80 lb braid on it may just for these situations in case you're fishing alone and you don't have somebody with you to help you with the string trick. I've used it three times now but this is the first time I had to use it on myself and it worked great.

Casting baitcaster/weightless worms
Another thing you may want to try is when setting the tension knob as the bait starts to drop, slowly tighten it until it stops the bait. I do this when fishing in the wind and it works great.

Casting baitcaster/weightless worms
Do you over head cast? If so try changing your casting angle, I fish senkos, zoom fluke sticks and yum drinker weightless all the time I use a 2 o'clock down to a 4 o'clock casting angles. The biggest thing is practice.

Stretching out your fluorocarbon line who else does this?
The reason for the question in the title is this. I have 4 rods that I don't keep on the boat that I grab when I go out with someone else on their boat, well while I was get things together for my outing this weekend with my friend he called to see what I was doing and I told him that I hadn't fished with these rods this season yet so I was stretching the kinks out of the line. His response was WHAT!!! I've never heard of such a thing. I can't remember where I heard or read about doing this but I know I did. So who else does this or am I just wasting time.

Telling people off...
I go by what my father told me a long time ago "don't argue with children no matter if they are 5 years old or 50 years old you can't win"

Your tips and tricks
The only thing I can add is this. When the fishing is tough, your not hitting your targets, getting hung up constantly just having a bad day, put every thing down take a good long look around and think how lucky you are to be on the water and how much you Love this sport.
