Back Filling A Reel With Cheaper Line
I just started flipping and pitching heavy cover and matted grass this year and I'm using an older model shimano reel and that thing holds a ton of line. I'm using 65lb braid and as you know braid is not cheap. My question is does it hurt or effect this technique by back filling the reel with a cheaper line?

Bps Reels
I have two and I'm not impressed. Don't seem to cast well, spool adjustment is very sensitive, it is to tight or back lash. Both reels bought the same day and both are 6:3:1 each reel feels and works differently. If I was you I would wait for the PQ to go on sale in March you can get them for about the same price. I have 3 PQ'ers and I like them very much, how ever I have only fished them for about 10 months.

Wife's Pb
Wife and I hit the lake today we caught 7 bass and a hand full of pan fish nothing to brag about. We did have a very cool moment. My wife mainly fishes for pan fish ( bluegill, crappie ) so she was fishing with her favorite lure a striking king bitsy minnow crankbait when she hooked a 3.6 lber it took awhile but she landed it. It was petty cool watching her work that fish. I know 3.6 isn't much but on a lure with hooks about a 1/4 inch I thought it was pretty cool.

Lake Chesdin
At least you was on the water I was on a ladder doing gutters all day. Remember a bad day of fishing beats a good day at work. You will learn that this lake is very sensitive to climate changes. One thing to remember the rain 50 miles west of the lake affects the lake two days later and depending on the amount of the rain will determine how far down the lake it affects. I don't know where you live but I have a camper on the lake and cross over the Appomattox just about ever day if you need a lake condition report just let me know may safe you a wasted trip, but if you are like me when you decide to go fishing you will be willing to fish in a mud hole just another challenge.

Had To Use A Tool That We All Should Have In Our Bag Of Tricks This Afternoon. What Is It?
Last season I was putting a fresh plastic on a off set worm hook and my rod slipped out from under my arm and into my hand went the hook so my brother used a pair of needle noise pliers to pull it out. He got it on the second try because the pliers slipped on the first try. After looking on the world wide Web on the best way to remove a hook from flesh I made my own tool for this. All it is is about 8 to 10 inches of 80lb braid and 2 key rings. The way it works is wrap the line around the bend of the hook put the key rings on your middle finger make fist and yank ,it works great. You do have to hold the hook a certain way there is all kinds of videos on YouTube that shows how to do this.

Had To Use A Tool That We All Should Have In Our Bag Of Tricks This Afternoon. What Is It?
My wife found out the hard way about the dangers of crank bait fishing. She got it hung in the grass and yanked it loose and it didn't stop flying in til it stuck in her calf

Lake Chesdin
Wife and I went out for a couple of hours this evening caught 1 dink. We went up in the old river. Where do you put in at?

Lake Chesdin
This lake looks great for bass and it is but it is hit and miss and so far this year I have been on the miss side of things but it hasn't stop me from fishing it two to three times a week. I've only been bass fishing for about three years now and it is a challenge and this lake multiplies the challenge. Some days/evenings I pick up 0 sometimes 1 to 2 and then on a rare occasion like evening before last I picked up 5 in 2 1/2 hours. Like my profile said Love Hate Relationship.
