What Could We Have Done Different
Those type of retrievals do make since to me but I would have never thought of that. Thanks There is so much to learn about this green fish I feel as if I am in school again. I have been fishing soft plastics for the first two years and this year I am trying to learn how to fish other lures. How ever I find myself picking up that lure that I started with. Maybe I should leave my soft plastics at home for awhile so I am forced to stay with the other type of lures. Again thank you guys for your input.

What Could We Have Done Different
Just started fishing crank baits this year and didn't even thank about it and I have a DT tied on. Didn't thing of a c-rig because of the sharp drop offs. I thank the chatter bait bite confused me because it was not in motions it was just laying on the bottom until I picked up the rod tip. In retrospect smoking a jig {what ever in the H that means} was the better option lol I am 2 years in to this bass fish adventure, do they make an app for that? In all seriousness I really do value you guys input and advice I have never seen or been around people who are so forth coming with so much info. Am I reading to much into the water temp drop? From what I was told and have read when the fish slow down you slow down your approach that's way we were trying the slower lures. Did we miss read the conditions?

What Could We Have Done Different
My wife a I went out on Sunday we went up the Appomattox River above Lake Chesdin the water was stained and we noticed that the water temperature had dropped from the low to mid 80's to the low to mid 70's I picked up a few dinks on a senko. As we were trolling we came across a hump that was holding a lot of fish according to the fish finder. the hump was about 7 to 8 feet with channel at about 12 to 15 feet the fish appeared to be staged on the down river side of the hump at about 9 to 10 feet. So we stayed in this area for about 30 minutes or so and we tried all kinds of lures from senkos, grubs, jigs, crawls, shakey head with a trick worm and then I told my wife let me try something that makes some noise so I picked up a black and blue chatter bait with a june bug u tail trailer. In the spirit of full disclosure I threw it into the wind with out adjusting the brakes so while I was working on my professional spool knot the lure fell to the bottom after I freed up my line I picked up the rod tip and a 4.2 nailed it, We continued to fish the area but nothing not even a nibble. That poses the question what if any thing could we done different.

Has This Ever Happened To You?
It happen to my wife about 3 weeks ago but it was a 1/8 oz. jig head with a white grub. She threw it up on the rock to let slowly slide down the rock when it got shagged about a foot down in the water. As I turned the boat to go and get it she was handing me the rod when we saw a 14 to 15 inch bass cruse up and pick up off the rocks so I handed her back her rod so she could land the fish. That was one of the cools things we have seen while fishing.

Topped My Pb This Evening
I rig it just like my senko 4/0 wide gap hook weightless. This fish was caught on a river bank drop off where a small creek dumped into it but it seems to be deadly any were brush, stumps. lay downs, grass lines. like I said any where. I like to throw pass the target area and slowly creeping over the target and let it drop slowly and watch the line for any movement. The best thing is they are almost half the cost of senkos and last longer. That was the third fish I caught on that worm. It has become my go to lure, but than again this is only my third year bass fishing.

Topped My Pb This Evening
I have been having a very slow year so far. I have landed 10 to 12 fish the biggest one 1.5 at best until this evening when I landed my new PB a 22 inch 5.9 on a Dawa 7' MH rod lure was a green pumpkin/purple flake zoom fluke stick the same lure I caught my previous PB on.

Ooooooo Man I Missed One
I feel your pain but in my short bass fishing avengers I know it happens and it sucks. My oh crap moment was last summer when my nephew and I was fishing a small cove with a deep drop off. I threw a senko over the backside of the grass and when I popped it out of the grass and let it fall along the edge of the grass my line started coming right at me by the time I caught up to it she was under the boat. I got the line tight but never got a good hook set she came to the top of water and my nephew couldn't get the net under in time she spit my green/pumpkin purple flake senko right back at me. My poor nephew ( 11 years old ) was so upset about it he still thinks it was is fault. I just tell him it happens and its just a fish there will be more.. Based on pics and my own PB I am guessing 8 to 10 pounder her mouth looked like a open 5 gallon bucket. That fish still haunts both of our dreams we talk about it every time we see each other. Sometime I wish we never would have seen it.

Got Skunked Today Again...

Best Day On The Water?
Best day on the water I will have to go with the first time I went out on the bay with my brother and 10 year old nephew for the first time, we were fishing for cobia my nephew was so excited for to catch my first cobia every time a rod went off he would say that's uncle Bubba's. I got exhausted from reeling in sharks and rays but after the ninth take down I finally landed a 45lb cobia. I don't know who was happier my nephew or me, because I could now stop reeling in fish I was spent. That was a good day.

Broke My 2Lb Cherry!
I sent a pic of 3 lbs of bass to my bass fishing friend Sunday how ever it was 3-1 pounders. Point is it was more then he caught he was cutting grass. Be proud of your PB those bass-ers you are talking about had to start some where.

Not My Night
Getting better at retrieving wayward lures and side casting. Tree fishing can be expensive.

Could I Have Done Anything Different?
I don't fish ponds but I had an old timer tell me once in heavily fished ponds the bass lose some of the durability and stamina. Don't know if that is true are not It does not sound like you did any thing wrong I have read some of your post you seem to be a responsible fisher. How ever it will happen from time to time. Don't know how long you have been fishing but it great you have never had this happen before. Shake it off and go after again.

How Do I Fishing Very High Water
Yea I went down there and watched the weight in. Isn't that the one that 16.9 won and a lot boats zeroed out. Fished Bassin Creek last evening for awhile with blue/black jig and junebug U tail on a shaky head. Got a couple hits on the U tail but got skunked. I remember Sam said something about trick worms around docks that weekend. I never fishes a wacky rigging before so that will be my next move this weekend. Thanks for the tip Richard
