I always have my spool of line sitting flat down on the floor or have someone hold it so it doesn't spin so the line uncoils off the spool in stead of spinning off the spool I've never gotten line twist doing it this way.

My daughter and her husband are moving to Port St. Lucy the first of November to start thier new jobs. We are coming down the second week of September to start looking for a place for them to rent. I was wondering to save us a little time if any of you Florida guys could give us some suggestions on some safe areas to start looking in about a 30 mile radius of Port St. Lucy. More importantly I noticed we will be about an hour from Lake Okeechobee and I would love to fish the lake on one of our trips down there so if anyone could point me in the direction of a guide or if any fellow bassresource member would be willing to take a Virginia boy out on the Big O. This is what I did when I first started fishing Texas rig. If you're not fishing heavy cover were you need to punch, down size your bullet weight to an 1/8 or 3/16 and watch your line especially on the descent for any movement. Once on the bottom with the lighter weight you will be able to feel it when a fish picks it up most of the time but trust me not all the time. Any one know about the tournment out of Seven Springs Marine on Chesdin this pass Saturday 5/20

I have an older lowrance lcx 15 and for some reason it has stop reading the Navionics chip. The only thing that I did since I got the boat 2 months ago is disconnected batteries and I did take the chips out to show my buddy which ones were in the unit. I've went into map data to map choices and the only choices it gives me is lowrance and Miami demo. Is there another setting that I'm missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update repair has been made. Very happy with the results, not happy with the water in both fuel tanks

I dropped it off at a local boat repair shop, looking like about a 400.00 repair not counting paint and I'm worried about the looks.

First of all no one was hurt only my pride. Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm having it looked at tomorrow but the boat is 30 years old and I'm not to worried about the looks that much just want it to float and not leak so I think my buddy and I will be fixing it. As far as what happened, I could make up some fantastic story but the truth is a fantastic story all on its own. I decided to take my daughter out fishing on this boat for the first time (keep in mine she has a fear of boats more specific sinking) well some dumb a** forgot to put the plug in (oh wait that would be me) we proceed across the lake and set up to start fishing some deep water docks, after some time my daughter made the comment "it's making me a little nervous with the amount of water in the bottom of the boat" I looked back and holy crap there was about an inch of water in the floor and the water was just about to come out of the hatches. We were sitting in about 15 feet of water (51° water) yes I paniced I looked around and saw a small beachy area across the cove I jumped in the driver seat fired the motor noticed the trolling motor was still down jumped up pulled up the trolling motor jumped back in the driver seat and with my panic and tunnel vision didn't notice that the wind has pushed us close to the dock, turn the boat slammed it in gear the rear of the boat with 300 lbs of water in it swung around and bam right into the dock pillion our situation just got worse. We made it to the shallow water and commenced to pumping out water. After about 2 hours the water is down enough so we put it on plain went back across the lake put on the trailer and that was that. Throughout the whole ordeal my daughter stayed perfectly calm. She said she has faced one of her biggest fears and is ready to get back on the boat. Thanks for the info I will call tomorrow . A question for bass boat nation. Just bought a 87 Winner and when cleaning the live well found a hole in the bottom. I would like to get some ideas on best way to repair it. Thanks in advance for your responses The hole is a little bigger then a quarter

Chesdin is a small lake but it can fish like a big lake. It does get a lot of pressure from early spring Thur late fall, if you know the lake you can do well if not it can be a challenge. I have a place in one of the camp grounds, I'm on the lake all the time. How ever I just started Bass fishing about 5 years ago so I'm still trying to figure the lake out myself but if I can help you out with anything just let me know.

Why not? What else can you spend so much money on and not feel guilty about it.

Bass Turd I am in your shoes and my heart truly hurts for you and your son. My daughter is 26 now our family have been fighting this battle on and off for 6 years, and I say family because it effects everyone directly or indirectly. We almost lost her a couple of months ago, her roommate found her face down in the floor Un responses. After her hospital stay we brought her back home. They are our children we have to try and save them we are all learning how to do that, wife,grandmother,sister,friends and myself. With the help of her doctors and her support groups we are on a up swing of this roller coaster ride. If you would like to talk more PM me and I will gladly give you my contact info. I can tell you this is my child and what we are going thru hurts and flat out sucks!!!

Brand new fenwick with a brand new pro qualifier spooled with 17# florocabon and a brand new 3/4 oz jig, none of which had been used. We had a fifty minute ride in Simi rough water had my six rods in the co angler rod spot beside the co angler seat and my dumb a** didn't strap the rods down, so when we got to our first stop I had been releaved of my brand new set up.

Made it out for about four hours this evening caught 4 that weighed in at just over 10lbs this one really helped the total. Just couldn't pick up the 5th one
