  1. Again, thank you for the hospitality. I will try those reservoirs on the ca/nv border once the ice goes away
  2. Good to hear guys. As a newbie, if I lose too many fish, I will switch to mono. Thanks for the advice guys. Keep the info coming.
  3. I got the St Croix Legend Tournament Bass "Skippin" rod. It's a 5'10" med x-fast spinning rod. Haven't used it yet, but was told it is a good pick.
  4. Great. Thank you. Still open to more advice.
  5. Hi, I am 38 and about to finish my 20 in the Air Force. I plan to go on to the airline industry and in my spare time, the wife and I want to hit the road and fish professionally. I am fairly new to bass fishing, though I was born and raised in Idaho, so I have fishing experience. This is my first year in a bass club (FLW affiliation). If you were me, which trail would you take, FLW or BM? Thanks.
  6. Through all my reading, I never saw the drag trick. I thought I invented this great idea that would change the crankbait world Thanks for the input guys. Plus, if I lose any fish, I will blame my fast action rod.
  7. I have a St Croix Medium Fast 7' Bass Tournament Rod with a Johnny Morris BC. I love my yellow 20-30lb braid due to losing less lures to snags and visibility. I was told by a friend with a ton of bass fishing experience that I need a moderate action with mono for stretch. Thinking out of the box, since a 3 ft mono leader wouldn't add much stretch to help, could I set my drag pretty loose to allow some give?
  8. I bought a used Low522gps for the bow and it has everything I need for the money. $150 used with transducer, power cables and head. Color, split screen, gps and networking .... is you use that sort of thing. Good luck and let us know what you get.
  9. As long as I have the 3 bundled cord. I found out the gps won't work with the 2 bundle since it doesn't have the NMEA. Found it on page 93758792 of the manual I guess it is good that the manual has so much info.
  10. After looking at the wiring diagram again, the 3 bundle power wire is for the GPS, like you stated. 1. red/white/black (thick) - Power 2. red/black (thin) - NMEA (GPS) 3. multiple colors - networking
  11. I had an x125 on the front of my boat using the trolling motor built-in transducer. It was using a power cable with 2 wire bundles coming out of the blue plug (separate from the transducer blue plug). I just upgraded to a Low 522 gps that came with a blue plug with 3 wire bundles coming out. Question: Can I use the existing blue plug with 2 wire bundles coming out instead of rewiring the 3 bundle plug??? I only plan on using the transducer and gps, no networking to my other ff. Thanks
  12. Depends on your definition of "sport". If you mean athletic, than a resounding NO If you are basing it off of skill, than sure. I would classify it as a drug
  13. Thanks for the info guys. I will be here monthly for the next x nmber of years, so I will definitely fish those lakes. As for Tahoe, I will have to read up more on that one.
  14. I think there an open tourney the week after (31st). Google Payette BM open.
  15. Like it says guys, I work in Reno and would love to find some fshing partners within a couple hours. Not many bass near reno, from what I hear, so I bought a cali fishing license. Let me know guys. Thanks. Mike
  16. Morning everyone. I'm a novice fisherman from Idaho that is looking to get very serious into competitive bass fishing. I work in reno about 30% of my time and always have time to fish when down there. Looking to learn as much as I can from you guys. Thanks.
  17. Hope this is the right section. I live in Idaho and work with the military in Reno and have some off time while I am there, but haven't found a good place to fish near Reno. If anyone has some advice or wants a fishing partner, please let me know. I will travel a coujple hours for some good fishin. Bass is my passion, but honestly, I just love fishin. I will pitch in on gas, food, etc. Thanks for your time guys and Happy fishin.
