  1. A senko actually casts pretty well weightless. Practice
  2. dx743 and t-3 ballistic. Had a blast today throwing senkos.
  3. Anyone fish the 3 rivers and lakes around Pittsburgh? Having any luck?
  4. Definitely lews speed spool.
  5. I have the president and trion. The president is better, but I like the trion almost as much and it gets used a lot.
  6. Do you guys recommend using u40 when the rod is brand new? I have a couple of new rods. Does it work?
  7. Carbonlites are great rods. I don't own any 2 piece versions. I don't really think there is performance disadvantage with a 2 piece though. I have 2 piece spinning rods of various brands and I still use them.
  8. I have braid on most of my reels, but I also use leaders.
  9. I don't know Mark, but I've seen him on tv and he seems like the kind of guy I could be great friends with. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.
  10. I use 20 on my bait casters, but I use mono backing. No problems at all.
  11. Frogging will be new for me this year: 1. megabass perfect pitch w/ lews tournament, 50lb power pro, booyah pad crashers, strike king sexy frog, snag proof. 2. falcon bucoo 7' h/mf, lews speed spool.
  12. The combo the op asked about would be fine for a versatile set up.
  13. Can't lose at the price...love mine.
  14. 7'1" medium is good for jerkbaits, topwater, lipless, shakey head, weightless plastics, wacky rig, drop shot, light jigs/t rigs, even squarebills.
  15. You can get the replacement guides at most stores that sell fishing gear. If it's a tip it's really easy. I've never repaired the other ones, but you could find videos on youtube.
  16. I just bought a rod rack from gander mtn. like the ones they use (round). I think I paid $40 for it and I'm very happy with it. It holds like 20 rods w/ reels which works for now.
  17. My philosophy with my arsenal on a budget: money goes into bottom contact rods, less money into reaction bait rods (spinnerbaits, jerk baits, crank baits, topwater, etc...). My carbonlite makes a fine spinnerbait/buzzbait rod. My omens make fantastic topwater/jerkbait rods. My question is for those who own $250+ rods for these types of presentations. What do you feel you gain from using more expensive rods over your average $100 rod for techniques that don't require extreme sensitivity. Tell me about the rods you use and why.
  18. Agreed, this is a question that can't be answered because each company has their own scale. And it's too subjective because everyone has their own opinion on which action they prefer.
  19. Great choices. IMO omens are the best in their price range. I just recently purchased some higher grade rods, but omens will remain in the arsenal.
  20. Bank fishing, I take 2 baitcasters. Yak, I take 2 baitcasters and a spinning rod. Boat I take 4 baitcasters and 1 spinning. I don't do tournament fishing yet.
  21. Absolutely. I have braid on every reel and just use different leaders for different presentations.
  22. Agreed, get the speed spool during a good sale. I paid $75 for mine.
