  1. I got it...he just makes blanks. Thanks
  2. How many rod companies does/did he build for?
  3. I don't own any shimano reels, but I'd love to get my hands on a curado i. Higher priced lews reels are also a sure bet.
  4. Hunterduke, are you more confused now, lol? Lots of good advice by a lot of good people who are passionate about fishing and want to help. However, everyone has their own opinions. You can't go wrong with the amount of good equipment out there. I bought my first baitcaster a couple of years ago and it was a right-handed revo sx. I never felt comfortable holding the rod with my left hand so I got some lefties and never looked back. I'm going to sell the righty to my buddy. Mono vs others? Maybe, but when I started I backlashed a lot and trying to pick out tangles was time consuming and I almost gave up baitcasting. Then I switched to mono backing with braid w/ leader. I still get the occasional back lash, but I can pick them out and pull them free easier. Remember that there are no knots in backlashes and no need to cut. Don't whip the cast, just use a smooth motion after the lure loads. After lots of practice you can get more adventurous and start pitching and skipping. Using baitcasters are fun, I enjoy the activity of casting.
  5. Buy a speed spool from the local guy. The pq is also a great reel, but I slightly prefer the way my speed spool casts. If you are fishing from shore I'd go for a 7' rod for more casting distance and a medium heavy for versatility. I have never seen laguna.
  6. When sensitivity is brought up, the nrx seems to always be the consensus leader in production rods. I've never owned or even fished with one, but only because I can't afford $500 rods. My question is for those who could afford them, but choose not to. Why wouldn't you have a whole rack of them? Why would you fish with anything else?
  7. Can't you get it replaced under warranty? I've heard bps is great about handing you a new rod.
  8. Mono is better for topwater for sure. I think as long as you keep within the lure weight ratings you should be ok. This is what I would use it for: jerk baits, top waters, senkos, flukes, jighead/grubs, shaky head, finesse jigs, light t-rigs, tubes, wacky rig, in-line spinners and light spinnerbaits. Basically any open water techniques with light wire hooks. Like I said you have to keep in mind the lure rating is limited on this rod.
  9. Raul, just wondering if they fish as similar as they look. At less than 1/2 the price.
  10. Anyone fish these side by side? Huge price difference and the rc stx obviously is similar looking. Do you think the vision is really better? I was given a vision 110 and I own a few rc's, but I'm honestly afraid to fish the vision because I don't want to lose it or damage...lol.
  11. I really like the bps combos. Why don't you just get another? The combos (pro qualifier/carbonlite) are $159
  12. I was surprised to find falcon bucoo micros at my walmart for $50! This is a $129 rod. Too bad they didn't have the one I needed. They were in the clearance section of the fishing dept. Some people said they have seen them for $40. These rods would blow away any other $65 rod imo.
  13. Choose the leader based on cover. I would use the 8lb. for more open water application, 12 lb. for moderate cover and the 17lb. for heavier cover.
  14. I hear great things about the fenwick.
  15. I wish I lived near a bps...good deal. I think you're going have fun with the new combo.
  16. I have bucoo, mojo and carbonlite. For me it's between the bucoo and carbonlite. Maybe go with the better price or consider that the carbonlite would be easier to warranty if you are near a bps.
  17. Anyone use in line spinners for bass? Which ones are your favorites?
  18. 6'9" mh w/ 6.4:1 - spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, chatterbaits, pitching jigs and t-rigs to docks and tight spots 7' m w/johnny morris or 6.4 lews- cranks, jerks, weightless senkos/flukes 7'3" mh w/7.1 - jigs and t-rigs 1/4-1/2 oz with trailers for moderate cover and shallow water 7'6" xh w/7.1 - jigs and t-rigs 1/2oz + for heavy cover and deeper water ghost w/ revo spinning - drop shot and shaky head shimano w/ spinning reel - could double as a senko/fluke rod, maybe wacky rigs I think your covered. If you get another rod for the extra reel, maybe consider a crank rod.
  19. Yes, which is why I was surprised because all I heard about was build quality. When I buy a rod at the store I examine it closely and choose one that looks clean. I realize that it is cosmetic and I was actually going to just keep it. But then I thought, if I had a rack of them in front of me, I wouldn't pick one that had a hitch. Would you? At any rate the retailer has worked with me and put me in contact with megabass. Megabass was great because they agreed to replace the rod. I'm just out the cost of shipping it to them. I'm completely satisfied with how things went down and will definitely purchase megabass rods from this retailer in the future. I think I just got a fluke. They are beautiful rods and plan to get an emtf.
  20. I hear nothing but great things about klx. In fact it may be my next purchase.
  21. I use braid with leaders on most of my setups so I have no desire to get micros.
