  1. I recently purchased my most expensive rod to date. I examined it thoroughly and noticed when looking down the blank that the tip had a very slight hitch to the left. It probably wouldn't effect how it fished, but it kind of bothers me. I spent $300 on this rod which for me is a lot of money. What would you do? Like I said it is a very slight hitch which you can't see unless you down the blank.
  2. I use a trion too and it's the old one that came with a spare spool. Honestly can't tell the difference between the trion and my president. It is a great smooth reel. Some may not like the wooden handles, but I like them.
  3. Honestly in the this price range, you can't lose with a lews, pro qualifier, revo s, or curado g. I own 2 speed spools, a tournament, a tournament mg, pro qualifier, revo sx and my newest acquisition the t3-b. They are quality reels and I like them all. I do feel like I got the best deal on the t-3b though.
  4. Congrats memphisff on your new rod. Let us know how you like fishing with it.
  5. Have you used a glass rod because it is different from a graphite? As far as sensitivity, I feel the bait but it is not as pronounced as graphite. The tip loads and launches baits. For squarebills the soft tips allows the lure to bounce around off structure. I don't use rattle traps much but use red eye shads and I feel those vibrate nicely. For me when a fish hits I definitely know it. I just lean the rod to the side and the fish is pinned. I tried using a graphite rod for this but vastly favor the mojo glass. Sensitive enough with a nice tip and parabolic bend.
  6. I have this rod too and really love it for throwing 1.5 and 2.5 as well as redeye shads.
  7. I picked up a t-3b as well. I got the 8.1 lefty. My regret is I didn't get another one because tw is sold out of 8.1 lefties. I'm thinking about picking up a 7.1. What is the difference? I read something about the handle.
  8. I also use a mojo glass 7'4" for squarebills and other cranks. It keeps everything pinned.
  9. Daiwa t-3 ballistic at tackle warehouse for 109 ($250 reel) is great deal. I jumped on the 8.1:1 lefty. You could find lews tournament mg for around $100.
  10. I'm going to make a concerted effort to using jigs this year. My question is what advantages do a jig offer over a similar weight texas rig with same craw? Also when do you use the different types of jigs (football, arkie etc)?
  11. Carbonlite with regular guides over the micro.
  12. Man, my problem is that I like so many and I still want to try more. Right now I like, megabass, dobyns and 13. I really want to try klx and upper end loomis.
  13. That looks like an awesome, well-thought out arsenal.
  14. I'm right handed, but use left retrieve. I started like many on spinning gear and 2 years ago I got my first baitcaster. It was a righty and I never felt comfortable, so I bought a few lefties and never looked back. I think a lot of new baitcaster-users will start with lefties. It seems like a lot of people that are right-handed who use right retrieve probably started using bait casters years ago when lefties weren't quite as available.
  15. Jerkbaits and grub/jighead. Walleye, sauger and wipers will be the first fish to hit. At this rate it won't be til May...I'm going through major withdrawal.
  16. Shimano sellus spinning rod ($50) and pflueger trion ($39). I use it for little jighead and twister tails. Fun fishing. Trion is very underrated reel which even comes with a spare spool. Just as smooth as my president and would buy another one if I needed another spinning outfit.
  17. I really like my St croix mojo glass, but that lucky craft rod does sound great...fuji sic guides, reel seat. But no hook keeper? Why on earth do they not put a hook keeper? Anyway, that lucky craft sounds like a winner, but if you want to save a few bucks then the mojo glass is also a winner.
  18. Braid with fluoro leader for jerkbaits work great. I prefer the leader for better action.
  19. That is exactly what I'm concerned about. I'm already thinking about how much money I could save with another great sale...lol.
  20. I have to confess to being a full blown tackle junkie. If this winter continues, I'll go broke buying more rods and reels than I have any business buying. My wife would flip out if she found out how much money I spent in the last 2 months. I managed to accumulate a lews speed spool, lews tournament mg, daiwa t3 ballistic, daiwa cielo spinning rod, 2 omens, *** black, dobyns dx 743 and my newest purchase a megabass xx perfect pitch plus a bunch of new baits and terminal. Please ease my guilt and share with me your latest winter time acquisitions.
  21. This is a cabelas exclusive. Anyone use this rod? Which model is comparable to (elite smallmouth, hmg, hmx?)
  22. Revo S is a solid choice with plenty of max drag for frogging. Why don't you like the pro qualifier?
  23. I really love my mojo glass rod for crankbaits. I prefer glass over graphite for cranking because I lost more fish with graphite rods and the treble hooks. Glass keeps them pinned. That veritas should work great for topwater. I'm sure others will chime in with their opinions.

Why do my buzzbaits run on their sides? Is it normal or should it run vertical?
  25. I picked up one of those wright mcgill rick clunn rods for $30. I got the 6'6" jerkbait model. Haven't used it yet, but wondering if anyone has any experience with this model. It seems like a lot of people like a graphite medium/fast or xfast rod. This rod is listed as mh/moderate. Last year I got a carbonlite 7' med/moderate rod. I kept on losing fish. Then I started using my mojo glass and got every fish. But the mojo is 7'4". Second question is don't you guys think a fast/xfast graphite rod would lose more fish?
