I usually let the conditions determine that. I rarely throw a T-rigged plastic without a weight, but it does have its time and place. As a rule for me, I will start out with the smallest weight the conditions allow. For wood cover, lay downs and brush piles, I usually start with 1/16 or 1/8 oz tungsten bullet. For thicker weeds I'll go heavier like 1/4 or 5/16 oz up to 1/2 oz. If the weeds are matted, I'll step up to a 3/4 or heavier. Wind, water depth and the rate of fall the fish respond to are all determining factors as well. Windy conditions and deeper water, and I'll step up the weight size to get a better feel for what I am doing. If the fish seem to be responding better to a certain rate of fall, I'll adjust accordingly. From my experience, the slower the fall the better, *usually. Certainly not always the case, as an aggressive fish may respond better to a bait that zips down the water column than one that slowly drifts down.

Are we talking about the frozen microwaveable mini burgers? Because those things I could put back like 20 of them. They are amazing.

This. BY FAR the worst fighting fish I have caught are walleye. They literally don't do a d**n thing as you reel them in.

Really liking the Z-Man Elaztech finesse worm this year. Very buoyant, and wiggles so much on a drop-shot it almost looks like a live worm.

The first decent bass I ever landed, I was about 5 years old. I have fished since 2 or 3, but caught only sunfish and tiny bass. This bass was the biggest one I had caught and I was super stoked. My dad was next to me helping me. In all my excitement, 5 year old me asks my dad "how much does he weigh, like 80 pounds?!". My dad, with a perfectly straight face and without missing a beat replies "Nah, about 2". Took the wind right out of my sails. I still remember this like it happened yesterday. That is one fat smallmouth. I have caught smallies in a couple bodies of water that the DEC don't list smallmouuth in, but they are all in close proximity to a river. I assumed flooding or another angler was responsible. This year, a lake I have fished hard for the past four years and got nothing but largemouth, has produced 3 smallmouth on my boat. Two by me and one by my roommate. The DEC doesn't list smallies in this lake. I am really hoping they are taking a hold. I am really curious as to the weight of a 19.5" smallie with that kind of girth. I would guess around 5...

Got out for a few hours this morning to a lake I fished and did fairly well in 2014. I ended up having a good morning on the water. Got to the lake just before 5:00 AM, right before the sun was coming up. I caught two bass within the first couple minutes, and had a couple boils at the Pop Max. The lake seemed very active right from the beginning. After the sun came up and as we worked our way down the shoreline, several missed frog blow-ups finally resulted in a hook-up. Got this girl on a Booyah Pad Crasher Jr. I had a couple more violent frog blow-ups but no hook-ups before the frog action stopped completely, as the sun was getting higher in the sky. We stopped the froggin' but it didn't take long to find more fish. I got a few more decent LMBs skipping docks with wacky senkos. Had a loon following the boat around for part of the morning. He would pop up a couple dozen yards from the boat, and dive back down only to reappear 20 minutes later right near us at a new spot. We started heading in as the action slowed and the sun started getting hot. A couple hundred yards before the boat launch we stopped at a spot we had tried earlier in the morning with no bites. Its a downed tree with lots of limbs and branches on a steep drop off. The end of the tree lies in about 18' of water. Its a good looking spot, but after spending a good amount of time on it a couple hours earlier with nothing, I wasn't too hopeful, but really wanted to end the day with a fish. A few minutes went by throwing to this tree with nothing again. Just as we were getting ready to quit, I pitched a Texas-rigged junebug colored baby Brush Hog to where I thought the end of the tree would lie. I let the bait fall and I could feel the tungsten weight banging off the tree limbs. I knocked the bullet weight several times into the tree, and as I started to reel up I felt an unmistakable "thump". I set the hook, and after a short but determined battle, I boated the biggest fish of the day, just a few ounces heavier than the Pad Crasher fish. It was a good morning, perfect weather and we caught fish all day. I would have liked to stay longer but by the time the sun was high, we were hot, sunburned and tired, and the pleasure boaters had started to show themselves. Definitely a fan of this lake and I will be fishing it again soon.

Spot hawks are the worst. This happens to me just about every single time on the water. As soon as I catch a fish, here come 1 or 2 more boats right to my spot. So I'll motor over to where they just came from, catch another 1 or 2 fish, and here they come again. Like a moth to a fluorescent light. Like you said, I always make it a point to let the fish jump if I caught it in a spot a fisherman left after seeing me catch one in another spot. Earlier this year I had these 2 clowns following me down the bank as I cleaned up pitching a t-rig to fallen trees. They were slinging live bait and bobbers, getting nothing right behind me. So after finishing the drift, I got behind them and cleaned up all the fish they didn't catch as they were completely dumbfounded. Of course I hear one ask the other one: "what is that guy using?".

I think the CWS will buy only because of the trade for Shields. I don't think they are ready to throw in the towel with Sale pitching at such a high level. I think Shields will turn things around but he still isn't a front of the rotation guy even when he is going good. He is a horse however. Always a lot of innings he pitches. They have some really good talent with Sale, Quintana, Abreu and Frazier. I don't think they are as bad as they have been playing. The Pirates I think will try to add some starting pitching. Liriano and Locke have been terrible this year, so now that Cole is back I think they will try to add a middle of the rotation arm. It's only a matter of time before McCutchen catches fire, and Marte is having a hell of a year. This would be the first year I have ever thought the Yanks would sell. So many trade pieces, so much salary being payed and they are kind of stuck in no man's land. I think they will try to add to the Judge/Bird/Mateo/Severino prospect core.

Tie on a heavy spoon or sinker and whip that sucker out there as far as you can about twenty times. Usually takes care of line memory. You could also try Berkley Trilene XL in 12lb. Hardly any line memory with XL.

I would think so as well. This happens to me a lot. Rock bass and bluegill will hit the end of the senko and drop it almost immediately.

These are carp, not bass. Does get the adrenaline going though to have a huge fish bust the surface close by, carp or not.

Same here. All fish I've caught while deadsticking have been accidental when I was occupied with something else.

Definitely just a largemouth.

My two favorite techniques are topwater, and pitching Texas rigs to downed trees.

Just fished a golf course last night, as I didn't feel like taking the boat out in 90 degree heat. Caught all my bass on weedless frogs and T-rigged ribbon tails.
