As others have said, these are probably carp, not bass.

But how did it taste?

I would guess 3-3.5 pounds. It has head and length of a larger fish, but looks to be on the thin side. If it had more of a belly that fish could go over 4 easy.

Any time I have spooled braid onto a reel with no backing, be it spinning or baitcasting, the line always slips on the spool. I'm not saying you will have a problem for sure, but thick mono backing is definitely a huge advantage. Some spinning reels come with rubber peices on the spool, just to prevent slipping. I haven't seen the same on baitcasting reels.

If I see bluegill where I am fishing, that means I'm right where I want to be, usually. This exact scenario actually happens a lot to me. I'll be pitching at a tree, and see blue gill hanging out next to the branches. I'll pitch the bait farther back into the tree and pull a bass out. I would take the bluegill presence as a good thing. Where there is prey, there is usually a predator.

The bait monkey cares not what other expenses you may have. He WILL get his!

If you're fishing during a thunderstorm, getting wet is not what you have to worry about. I can't speak for the fishing during a thunderstorm because if there is thunder and lightning in the area, I am off the water. Lightning is something I don't mess around with especially considering a graphite fishing rod can literally double as a lightning rod. Fishing before or during a front can be very good though, and thunderstorms sometimes are a sign that a front is moving in.

My favorite time for topwater is late evening right when the wind has died down and it's starting to get dark. I usually use a popper earlier in the year but as the water gets warm and the fish get very active I'll switch to a faster moving bait like a Rapala Skitterwalk. Topwater fishing at dusk is one of my favorite ways to fish!

Best part was Beltre bear hugging him from behind, Bautista couldn't do anything even if he wanted to! The slow motion shot looks like something straight out of Rocky!

I think Odor, Bush, Bautista, Donaldson, and Chavez will all get suspended, but obviously Odor's is gonna be the harshest. I am thinking at least 5 games but I wouldn't be surprised if it was more. Although its a tough call considering Machado a couple years ago only served 5 games for hitting the catcher with his bat twice, then attempting to throw his bat at the pitcher but instead throwing it at the 3rd baseman.....who happened to be Donaldson lol

I have a couple 1000 yard spools of Berkely Big Game that are several years old and comparing it to a new spool, there isn't a difference. Still fish with it to this day.

This is why I love top water fishing! You never know when the strike is coming. Speaking of being startled, try having a big bass blow up on a jitterbug about 1 foot from you in the pitch black while night fishing! It's happened to me a couple times and it's the greatest combination of terrifying and exhilarating!
