Post-work & Pre-spawn
Pre-spawn fishing sounds like the best B-day gift you could ask for. Hopefully Mother Nature delivers! Good luck!

This little guy tricked me. Thought I had had something big when it made a long run. Bent the hook on my Rattlin' Rap.

Post-work & Pre-spawn
Hit the lake after work for a couple hours, and finally had some good pre-spawn action. Fish were shallow and all caught in timber/downed trees. Started off with this CHUNKY 13 incher. . Thought I hooked a hog on a lipless. Ended up being a chubby smallish pike. It made a run like a pike twice its size. I got a couple more decent bass, and then landed the lunker of the day. 19 inches long, 4.16 pounds and the fattest belly on a fish I have caught: . Ended the day with another good one: It was a great couple hours on the water, and I finally got the pre-spawn bite I was waiting for! All fish were caught on lipless cranks and 5" senkos. Gonna try to be on the water everyday for the next couple weeks I wish pre-spawn was all year long.

Walking the Dog
The Rapala Original Floater has a lip, which means you won't be able to walk the dog with it. That is probably 99% of your problem. The easiest baits I have found to walk are the Rebel Jumpin' Minnow and the Rapala Skitter Walk. One other thing: make sure there is some slack in your line when you jerk your rod!

I got to one of my home lakes this morning expecting some hot pre-spawn action, but things never go to plan. This particular lake has ZERO weeds or cover except for downed and overhanging trees along the bank. This is THE ONLY cover on the lake and the only spots that hold fish so they are usually pretty easy to locate. When I got there this morning, I was very disappointed to see that, due to the lack of snow melt this year, the water level was down by about 15 feet, leaving the over-hanging and fallen trees on dry land about 10 feet away from the water. And to make matters worse, the water was very muddy (its usually gin clear) and a few degrees cooler than I was anticipating. I knew it would be tough fishing but decided to put the boat in anyway. I did manage my first bass of the year, a tiny one, and that was it. Felt good to smell fish again, and this little guy happened to be my first Ned Rig fish.

Fluoro leader???
If you're worried about the knot going through the guides, there are smaller line to line knots than the double uni. A smaller knot might go through the guides easier.

The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, and The Race For The Pennant Is On!
Wow. I knew the Braves were going to be bad, but I couldn't have imagined they would be this terrible. This is un-watchable. I feel like I am watching a little league team. Good thing its a full schedule tonight.

The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, and The Race For The Pennant Is On!
I saw him pitch the other day! My first thought was "you have got to be kidding me". That is who the Braves have on their ML roster? haha I guess if he gets outs that's all that matters. But that is one funky delivery. The Braves had another reliever a couple years ago, Jordan Walden, who also had a weird delivery. He would kind of hop in the air as he pushed off the mound.

Not sure how to approach this
I'm guessing it's an old strip pit? Cold, clear, deep and giant fish sounds like a pit to me. When I fish pits and mines in the early spring, a warm day is usually the best. I've cleaned up in the past on warm spring days throwing T-rigged Rage Craws and jigs really shallow, parallel to the bank. I remember a couple springs ago I caught 4 large bass in about 20 minutes who were all pushed right into the bank, in just a few inches of water. It was a warm sunny spring day and the fishing was HOT! Try waiting for a warm day, and throw a craw really shallow, parallel to the bank.

What are the best websites?
ebay, Amazon, the Flea Market here are a few. TW is where I get most of my stuff, but ebay is better for deals.

Anyone know good storage for hooks?
Ditch the Plano and go with Flambeau. ALL my Plano boxes are like that. Flambeau dividers usually fit snug.
