  1. Humpback whale off the coast of Akureyri, Iceland.
  2. Blanda River in Blönduós - Northern Iceland
  3. Dried lava field in Snæfellsnes, Iceland
  4. @TnRiver46 you probably saved 3 gardens in the process
  5. Man it’s hard to pick. Each open water season has its upsides. Spring usually produces my biggest fish of the year, and that’s certainly been the case this year. Summer is the most predictable as far as where the fish will be and when they’ll be there. Fall might be my favorite. Lots of big fish show up in the fall and the fish aren’t as unpredictable as spring. The foliage scenery, the smells, the crisp air, the sounds of hunters’ gunshots in distance. The ambience of fall fishing is definitely the best.
  6. Yep still in Iceland. If there were bass here I might be sticking around long term. @youngcharlesbarkley Like @gimruis was saying, I use a small tripod stand from Amazon that is perfect. I usually fish solo and this little stand has been perfect. https://a.co/d/1lYSCNF These are a couple of photos I’ve used the tripod for. I think it works pretty perfectly. I set the timer to 3 seconds.
  7. I commonly see small schools of smaller male bass hunting up shallow. Kind of like a wolf pack. It’s definitely more of an early summer thing around here but I’ve seen these wolf packs all times of the year. Usually they’re easily caught.
  8. Chic-fil-a is the most overrated. I’d rather eat Tyson frozen chicken. In-N-Out tasted like cafeteria food.
  9. Thank you sir. Ownership is certainly a huge responsibility, but it’s the good kind of responsibility and we’re having a blast.
  10. Can’t spend what you ain’t got, can’t lose what you never had.
  11. I would be willing to bet they weren’t sleeping, and were probably up that shallow to hunt/eat. If you’re on the bank, try casting from a distance. Stand far back from the water and drop the bait in front of their face while they can’t see you.
  12. @ol'crickety glad to hear you got some results to your new landing technique!
  13. Baits may not differ from river or pond fishing as much as location. When fishing a lake that I’m unfamiliar with, the first thing I do is pull up a contour map of the lake. I look for any points, some are obvious and some are only identifiable as points because the underwater structure shown on the contour map. That’s always my starting point for lake fishing. Points, points, and points, and I adjust from there. That’s not to say I only fish points, but that is simply how I start to break down a new lake.
  14. I take solace in the fact that when I die, that is it for me. Immortality sounds like a terrifying prospect.
  15. Thanks fellas. @TnRiver46 I’m 99% sure it’s some type of privet. Non flowering type or something. Grows insanely fast. This fall I’m gonna cut it way back and down
  16. Project is about finalized. Couple more wheelbarrow loads of stone to dump tomorrow and the project will be complete. This: Is now this: Finally done, woodchuck hasn’t shown his ass for weeks, vegetables are coming in great. I’m happy. It’s been an eventful (and exactly one) year at our new home. We’ve done so much work inside and out, feels good to have this project done and the patio ready to use.
  17. @LrgmouthShad that’s the easiest way for me to tell hydrilla and Eurasian milfoil apart. When the hydrilla mats up it gets that nasty cheese/slop on top where the milfoil is just a mat of vegetation. I prefer to fish milfoil, and prefer to not have punch at all if I can help it.
  18. Yep, white perch, stripers and white bass are in the family Moronidae or “temperate bass”, where largemouth and other black basses are in the centrarchidae or “sunfishes” family under the genus “micropterus”
  19. Smoky sunrise from the ramp this morning
  20. Hot, muggy and somewhat smoky morning on the lake. The wildfires are still hazing up the place. Was all about the spinnerbait today. No lunkers but lots of chunkers. Fish were all very fat and healthy. Lost the would-be best fish of the day that was over 4 pounds. The lake got extremely crowded by mid morning and I was out of there by noon. This lake has really thick milfoil and hydrilla mats, spent hours punching and frogging them to no avail. Fish were only found in sparse to moderately thick curly-leaf pond weed and elodea. This lake is an enigma, but it gives up fish readily and I know it’s a potential PB location so I’ll continue to try to pick it apart.
  21. @gimruis Iceland. Day time highs of 56-58°. Gonna be a nice transition.
  22. Upstate NY has been a hot, nasty, humid, swamp this summer. It’s dumped rain d**n near every day. This week has been better with only mid 80s but next week is going to be nasty again. I’m heading out of country far north at the end of the month, will be nice to get out of the heat.
  23. Last load of stone got dropped off. This project is ending up taking a lot of the summer thanks to Mr & Mrs woodchuck. 7 more yards to move then I get to sit on my new stone patio and drink a beer.
  24. I’m traveling to Iceland in less than 2 weeks. Good thing about being right near the Arctic is it seems to cut down on the infectious diseases.
  25. He keeps it similar enough to the original to have that same feel. So many covers end up being unrecognizable because the artist wants to put their own spin on it. But he sounds like hes just singing along to Tracy Chapman, and his voice is so different from her's it give the song a different feel without being a completely different song. 10/10 cover in my opinion.
