If their diet influences their flavor, these ones should taste like cilantro, parsley, tomatoes, broccoli, lettuce and black berries. Should be delicious!

spinnerbait reel?
I agree with this. My prerequisites for a spinnerbait reel are basically something with good line capacity, slow gear ratio, and can sling 3/8-3/4oz spinnerbaits a good distance. I actually use a Kastking White Max for this. It’s served me very well for a <$100 reel. Good for nothing but slingin and slow rolling spinnerbaits, and for that it’s perfect.

Hooksetting question
Bass can inhale and reject a bait all in a fraction of a second. So when I feel a hit, I’m swinging on em. Even if it takes the bass two “bites” to fully take a bait, that happens in less than a second as well. No waiting besides the time it takes to lower the rod tip and reel in the slack. I don’t believe waiting after a bite does anything but lower your odds of hooking up, when it comes to bass specifically.

Gonna get ghillied up and wait with my pellet rifle pointed at the hole under the shed lol So @TnRiver46; how does a woodchuck steak taste? Or should a make a “chuck roast” hahaha

Girlfriend told me “do what you have to do, I just don’t want to know about it”. I think she wouldn’t be as dramatic if one of our dogs didn’t just kill a baby bunny right in front of her. Left her a little traumatized so she doesn’t want any more loss of animal life lol but the garden we’ve worked hard on, growing everything from seed starting in March was completely destroyed by these fat bass turds so this means war!

Landscaping Projects
@TnRiver46 I’ve seen at least 2 big fast bass turds. They got fat from eating all out vegetable and herbs apparently. Looking into traps but NYS has laws against wildlife relocation. May have to get the pellet gun out, against my girlfriends wishes.

Slow but steady progress. Got about half the area filled with stone. Gonna need another 7 yards or so. Between work, fishing, and obligations my girlfriend makes for me it’s been slow going on this project. It’s almost complete though. Next will be dealing with the woodchuck situation after they completely took out our garden.

Fishing a big ribbon tail worm
Love fishing a big worm in the summer. It’s almost that time. I fish weights from 1/16oz up to 1/2oz depending on the situation, depth, cover, and fish’s mood. Never pegged. I use Rage Anacondas and Culprit 10” ribbon tails.

Chime In On This Age Old Debate
Walleye probably takes the cake for worst fighter pound for pound. For some reason big pike seem to be really lazy fighters as well. My vote is bluegill. If those things got as big as bass I can’t imagine the drag peeling runs they’d go on.

Doing a little pond fishing, got some beautifully colored pumpkinseeds on a grasshopper fly. They’re a blast on tiny poppers and dry flies. Couple nasty pickerel crashed the party as usual.

Adirondack/Capital Region Fishing Reports
Got into some good fish today. Cold and foggy start turned into dead calm and sunny. Spinnerbaits, plastics, frogs and poppers took fish today.

Yeah I’m lucky to live in such close proximity to the Adirondacks. The scenery and fishing opportunities are endless! I’ve caught fish with all kinds of sores and wounds and other maladies, but it was weird to catch 3 in row with the same sore on the same spot. Hopefully no cause for concern. The lake and bass seem as healthy as ever.

Fished from 5am until 10:30am. Was a cold, foggy calm morning. It seemed impossibly calm. Today was the definition of junk fishing. Never put a real pattern together but I caught em on everything I threw. Senkos, T-rigged Rage Bugs, poppers, weedless frogs, and spinnerbaits. I love a good junk fishin session. Got on my first weedless frog bite of the year, as we finally have some emergent vegetation. Played cat and mouse with this one for 10 minutes until the cat finally got its prey: Caught 3 different fish with sores like this on their face. If anybody has any idea about what would cause this, please share. I’m emailing photos to the DEC, as this has me a little concerned. This next fish was one of the crazier catches I’ve ever had. Was casting a PopX over a patch of pond weed, and got a blow up. Set the hook and my line broke at the reel. I was pretty upset at losing a fish and a $20 lure, but I noticed my line still sitting on top of the water. Put the TM on high and made it to the line while it was still floating. Grabbed it and started pulling, and to my surprise the fish was still hooked! Only a little guy, but I thought I had lost a fish and a $20 lure but turns out I saved both: Got some good fish as well. Seems like the fish are in their summer pattern, because the big girls have started haunting their deep structure. As usual, spinnerbait picked up the biggest fish at 4-9. Felt great to stick some good fish. It’s been a bit post-spawn dink fest here but ended that today. Bass thumb has been re-achieved ?

i'm not calling it a "Diet", but...
Im us all. AC made me soft. Nothing like mowing 20 lawns then walking into a 78° house ?. But then again I freeze all winter no matter how high the heat is up. So maybe I’m just a big baby lol

Finally got around to installing some of the pea gravel. It’s coming along. Definitely will need at least another 7 yards, but if I’m done by the end of the month I’ll be happy.

Color you wish more companies would make in soft plastics
More color options for spinnerbait skirts. Seems like companies only like putting whites, silvers and chartreuse for spinnerbait skirts, but I do so well on ones patterned after pumpkinseeds, perch, golden shiners etc.

WD40 as a line conditioner
I’ve also heard old timers say they use WD-40 as an attractant. I think old timers just have a WD fetish. Just use KVD L&L and save the WD for that rusty gate.

The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, and The Race For The Pennant Is On!
Man it must suck to be a Mets fan. 3 straight comeback wins by the Braves, to hand the Mets their 6th straight loss. That walk off HR by Albies was an absolute missile. Braves still leading the East, the Mets are fading fast and doing Met stuff, and all is right with the world.

One. (And do you have one?)
A lake I haven’t fished in a few years is that lake for me. I used to work 5 minutes away from it so I fished it a lot after I got out of work. It was not a numbers lake at all. It was a small very public lake that got absolutely hammered with pressure. But when you got a fish it was usually a good one. I only ever had 2 “good” days on that lake; a morning that produced about a dozen fish in 5-6 hours, and a then a short 2 hour trip in the afternoon that resulted in about 20 fish. They were slamming a weedless frog with reckless abandon in just a few inches of water. But most days are good for 1 or 2 fish. The lake is an enigma. I think about fishing it from time to time still, but I have closer, less pressured lakes now.
