Thats awesome. I was in a canoe. Similare story, about 4am and litteraly right next to me a dolphin pops up and blows out with everything he had. No warning. Scared me more then the 12ft alligator popping up.

Fished Johns Lake with BBD today. No pigs but the dinks were hitting an interesting selection of lures. The worms, fluke, jigs, spoon, and lipless crank all got a little action. Had a great time out on the water regardless!

Ha I got a Hack Attack in 1oz green pumpkin. That thing is huge! Lol.

Im doing 55 hours. 6 days on average. I still manage two hours a day of fishing and usually on my off days I go sun up to sun down.

Throw what they arent. If they are using common walmart gear go with finesse gear or big magnum size baits. This generally improves your odds.

Never had an issue with 4/0 ewg hooks being set unless I was using a real beefy plastic or didnt give the fish enough time.

Havent been using them very long but a nice slow strait retrieve seems to work well. Also making it act like a dieing fish with random behavior gets a nice reaction strike time to time.

Nice catches Rick. Definitly in the 4lb range. I went for a few hours this morning. After torturing my line with a few fish I couldnt land and hanging it up in the trees a few times. I managed to bird nest it and have the line break. Once again watching a lure fly away. No biggie though. That was definitly my fault.

I want to hear some of your stories on the darker side of fishing. Stories of shadow people, ghosts, aliens, UFOs etc. Surely some of us have seen some strange things. Like tonight. Doing a little canal fishing I use my head lamp to check the water for snakes and gators before I approach the shore. After looking around I kill the light. Immidiately across the bank a figure appears kneeling down by the water. Looking at it hard I figure it has to be a shadow casted from grass or something. Kick the head lamp back on and look around. No grass is any where near the shore line and the figure disapears. Click the light back off and the figure is there again. Not only is it there this time I notice the shadow is reflecting in the water as well. I continued to fish while watching and it never moved. There was no earthly way it was a shadow from grass or a tree. Spooky! Anyone else have some stories?

I would be hot. Thats like me when i go fishing dragging along my girlfriend. No license for her but all the equipment is mine. Yes all 4 rod and reels plus enough tackle to start a small bait shop.

Have to admit bowfin put up such a fun fight. Its an absolute joy to catch.

Sometimes fishing feels surreal. You get a perfectly calm water with an overly dramatic sky just as the sun is coming up. The night birds just finished their night calls and the morning birds arent even up yet..... That is the best. Really makes the rest of the day go by so much quicker and nothing will stress me out.

Keep this in mind. When fishing with Mono after pulling that line tight for a few hours (catching fish, pulling out of brush etc...) The line will stretch thin and your 17lb will gradually become weaker until you lose lures or fish. If your line takes a beating or a lot of work. Cut off 8-10ft. Re tie

In the canal it is huge pressure. I would think the rest of the lake is as well. However they are recreational fishers usually. By that I mean they fish off and on through the year and arent to keen on bass fishing. You could probably locate spots not many people touch. I would check out trout lake or alligator lake. You can get access off of 192. I liked the water quality down there.

Fishing is like that for me as well but I must admit it has also become a bit of an addiction. Its not always about the next bigger bass or time on the water but how I can turn a passion into a living. Now all I do is think about.... products/quality/design/locations/events/marketing and even schooling to try and turn this passion into a lively hood.

Depends on what you are pitching. Texas rig the weight will sometimes slide down the line mid flight. Two plops. As far as bird plops. Probably water or poop. However. I have seen and witness LMB following around ducks waiting for them to crap. I guess they are either looking for baitfish or a snack themselfs. Pan fish will eat just about anything floating in the water.
