power pro was good at first then it went to complete crap. Spiderwire didnt impress me at all. I about gave up on braid after 80$ worth..... Then I said ill try one more. Went with suffix and I havent had one issue yet with it. Does nicely on rocks cover and everywhere I normaly fish mono. Really happy with it.
  7. Hows this sound for a color combo. Shinner inspired..... Top grey and brown. middle section White and gold with silver glitter. And the bottom of the skirt in yellow or orange Ohhh i need to see that kind of spinner bait. I would buy in a heartbeat.
  8. Yeah post the pics up for for everyone else. Some killer looking baits. Im ordering next chance i get.
  9. Some good suggestions here to get you started but one of the simplist ways to fish end up being really effective as well. If I had to start all over again I would strongly recomend the following. Spinning rod (medium action) and reel with 8lb trilene mono line. Make sure you spool it correctly avoid line twist. There is more info on bass resource about this. Bullet weights (small and medium) Wide gap worm hooks in black. 4/0 size. Ultravibe speed worms by zoom in these colors. -watermelon candy (good for mornings and cloudy / rainy days -green pumpkin all around good color Zoom Trick worms -watermelon seed -black Zoom ole monsters (ribbon tails) -green pumpkin -black You should be strait with this setup and able to catch fish with these anytime of year.
  10. Jelous. No PB in central florida. nice fish though!
  11. Let me know how you like them! I have been eyeing seibert pretty hard. Swim jigs and spinners is what im looking at. Post an update later. And thanks MCS. Ive been trying to target bigger fish being land locked as whats hurting me the most. That spot I goto has a 20ft hole but every angler knows about it. I sat there one day while a local tournament was ran amd watched 6 boats pull up right there maybe 20 minutes before time. It can get wiped clean of fish and kt takes a while for them to come back.
  12. Gambler EZ Duzit hook with the giant fluke paid off this morning. Scale gave me different readings of 5.0lbs and 4.14. Eitherway the fish keep getting bigger.
  13. Medium size bullet weights. Wide gap Hooks. As many bags of plastics as i could.
  14. And away he goes to be caught again! Nice fish guys!
  15. So I took a little break from fishing. A whole day.... and did some reading up here at BR. I learned a little bit and tried testing new ideas out at my test pond. Seems ones of the major problems I was having was identifying the bigger fish strike zones. With a little help from the guys at the bait shop I got my color selections down to a science now and it all seems to have been working out. Ive had well over 2 dozen hits today but wouldnt set the hook unless it felt big. Pulling in a 2.7lb, 3.3lb, and last but not least 4.0lbs flat. All on speed worms. This was the catch of the day. Looks like a male to me. Any one know how to tell the difference?
  16. I hope you do well. Rather proud to live near this lake. I still call east toho home though
  17. Color, speed, action. Im no expert but this is what ive come to the conclusion of. Ive got a whole mess of soft plastics and limited selection of hard baits. Lets start here with Color: Ive fished my test pond with every plastic Ive had. At any given time the color seems to be most important. Blue blacks... heck even a small amount of glitter makes a huge difference. Speed: Sometimes that fish just wont bite unless that speed is just right. Use weight only if neccessary to achieve depth and speed. Action: Sometimes a ribbon tail sometimes a paddle tail. Try different styles some will be more successful at times then others. This includes your presentation. Stops, sweeps, shaking, and what I call running (make a bait look like its about to get away) really can get picky fish to bite.
  18. Today turned out to be pretty good. Got a dozen largest coming in at 3.8lbs. No pickerals! Yay.
  19. Haha not catching much today. Just kind of goofing off but I had a real nice suprise come to the surface 5 feet away. Something like a 12 ft gator. He scared the crap out of me as much as i scared the crap out of him. Guess im lucky i still have leggs lol
  20. I was slaughtering pickeral there today. Only got one bass but the 8pickeral made up for it lol. Bigguns were hitting top water but they didnt seem to like my skitter walks, devil horses, or speed worms.
  21. It is a 3/8 Yank'em swim jig in golden shiner color. Got a couple more since a pickeral got into it. Its not unusable but that fish took some of the skirt off so its looking a little thin. This is a new one.
  22. Been killing them on a white and gold swim jig this morning. Have to admit they like it and so do I.
  23. Was going to do a little minnow fishing today but these minnows werent falling for my cage trap. They decided hanging out near it was good enough. Then a whole bunch of bass 1.5lbs and under started picking them off along with blue gills and a 5lbish catfish. Was fun to watch but i got no action.
  24. Looks fat! Nice fish.
  25. When I was a kid me and a neighbor targeted these fish. We started with snagging them on trebel hooks but we found floating bread worked best. This is how we would do it. Take a slice of white bread. Tear the guts out of it into small pieces like if you were trying to feed blue gills. Then use the crust as your bait. Dont use any weight. Tie on a sturdy hook and fold the crust around the hook lightly. just enough it sticks together. (Its like a mini hook sandwich) It should float. The fish should start chowing down on the guts and when he finds the crust he wont think twice about you or the line. Sometimes we couldnt catch them on bread. But putting anything in their bed will probably give you a chance to get a bite. Small jig sounds like a good idea. They are good eating too.
