  1. I'll agree with that. The fish you guys were hooking into were pretty big. I was to preoccupied with learning the ways of shaky heads lol. Next time I get some money im getting a lews 7 ratio/mh berkley 7ft/ 50lb and going cranking. Lipless cranking until I find what im looking for. Dont care how many xcaliburs I lose in the process of finding the big one i want.
  2. Try at night. Fishing really fast and they have been chasing.
  3. Agree. Just missed two big ones. Should of set the hook harder.
  4. I got a couple of anacondas but have not caught one on it yet.
  5. What if you are sight fishing and the fish goes to bump the lure. I.E. toget a devil horse to go away. Is that considered a snag? Ive caught quiet a few fish this way (not in tournaments)
  6. I had a throat hook and was having some trouble getting it out (had to walk to the car to get some pliers) Fish was out of the water maybe 5 minutes and bleeding a little. Right as I was on the way back to the water it froze up and died in my hands. Hook came out easily but Ill take that one as a lesson. Get the fish back in the water as soon as possible.
  7. I still believe a new record is out there to be caught. This fish has an IQ larger then einstein and puts all of our angling skills to shame.
  8. For the southeast section of the site FL seems to have the most newcomers. I like it!
  9. That top one looks pretty dang nice. Im really looking for some crappie colored ones and Dirty Jigs has one. I just need to order it. Was really hoping to see a seibert swim jig in crappie colors but I dont think he has that immitation yet. Anyways nice work on the jigs. Definitly want to see how they work out for you.
  10. I think its because the fish have imagination. Seriously. They dont see color so they assume it is their favorite color and they attack it I really have no clue.
  11. I am with you on that one BBD. Sometimes certain baits just arent going to work out. No matter how confident one is. This is what my opinion is. You should be confident with everything you have in your tackle box. But more importantly. You should be dynamic enough to realize when a bait isnt working and change it. Either presentation/color/type. Now finding the fish is a whole different topic.
  12. I have suddenly come to the conclusion that all the places I frequently fish have major pressure. After reading articles all over the web (including here) Ive decided my best bet is to use my old tackle box and build an emergency box for when the pressure is really on. I.E. West Lake Toho is fished consistantly year round. Has weekend tournaments frequently (upto 300 boats) and sometimes multiple tournaments on the same weekend. Im coming up with a list of things to get for this bad fishing day box. So far im looking at these items. 4"trick worms, Berkley leech, fat albert grubs, Tubes, Beetle spins, Hula grubs, Damiki hydra, and terminal. What kind of tackle do you keep in your emergency box for these really rough fishing days?
  13. Hit West Toho today with BBD. Have to say it was a rough day of fishing. Seemed the onlything I could get to work was a Paka Craw as a top water bait. Them cleaning up brush in the lake made it real muddy and the heat didnt seem to help. So if anyone was out and seen some guy completely failing at putting a boat on a trailer. That was me lol.
  14. Simple answer is catch more toads win more and give the boards a break. Jokes aside. I hate cheaters.
  15. I got stuck looking at two items online... Gambler Jigs with a willow blade and Ikes custom colored spinners. Anyone tried these baits out and have some feed back? Who uses ragetail trailers?
  16. I dont normally give away my secrets but. Spoon+uncle josh pork frog. Black/silver. Dont ask me why it works. Its a killer.
  17. Dont let anyone know the ways of old. They work to well!
  18. Jig on the point of the shallow area. Should be good to go.
  19. Ok lol. You got me on that one.
  20. Keep in mind I will be hitting West Lake Toho in this kayak quite frequently.
  21. If I had a boat. I would captain tourney events. I think I could place well.
  22. I get loud casts with line. Usually when its loosely spooled.
  23. Good thread but im looking for the exact setups. What rod What reel What line For what purpose. I was thinking. About this lately for a kayak im going to be buying. Figured i need Flip pitch punch rig Standard casting fineese rig
  24. Speed spool on berkley lightning shock medium action.
  25. If you could only carry 3 rod and reel combos on your boat which 3 would you have And for what purpose?
