  1. Ive been killing a bunch of dinks on square bills and speed worms lately. For the record guys today I broke a palomar knot getting hung up in some grass. That took a lot of muscle even on 12lb mono.

Yes he was. Thanks for that tip. Was a little curious why he was doing that since a buddy of mine is fishing a tourney there.
  3. Thats insane. Ive heard similare horror stories in FL. I would try to talk to someone in charge of the dmv.
  4. No, I got the lews speed spool on a berkley medium action.

Just seen some yahoo tossing wet dog food into west lake toho. Tournament cheater or guide setting up business? What do you guya think? If I had thought about it sooner I would of snapped a photo.
  6. To each their own. Some pics I wanted to share earlier. Runt of the day on a speed worm. Experimenting with this setup. Big fluke on a gambler hook/blade. Looks good in the water. The new baitcaster and rod Last but not least. Walmart employees arent the smartest hahaha.
  7. It does but thats where I like mono better. Sometimes when the line is tight with braid, a fish will go to suck it up and doesnt like how it reacts... mono tends to stretch and its not as alarming to the fish IMO.
  8. This is what ive come conclusion too. Braid pros compared to mono.. Stronger, thin diameter, casting ability, seems to behave better in water (for jigs). Mono pros compared to braid. Effected less by wind, less likely to tangle in trees/heavy cover. More line play can be benificial in some situations.
  9. It wasnt smooth. Maybe i got a bad batch... who knows. I miss the fedility of braid already but mono does have some benifits.
  10. I used a palomar knot with a quarter cm tag. The line broke right near the rod tip. I know it wasnt the rods fault. The line felt rough every 8 feet or so. Brand new too. Its my own fault. I should of stopped spooling it when I noticed it.
  11. Well today was good and bad. Went to the bait shop bought some stuff. Did my taxes next door.then went to walmart and got a lews baitcaster and berkley rod. Strung up the power pro casted a couple times. Caught a fish. Checked the line for frays.... swing on the cast and wammmm... watched my brand new xcalibur crank bait fly away..... why on earth do i have such issues with braided line? No idea. I gave up and put trilene 12lb mono on it. Kvd crankbait and fish were biting. All dinks but love the reel and rod this far. Never buying power pro again.

Do people cheat commonly in tournaments?
  13. Was thinking about what on earth does any man need 101 bluegills for..... then though about the swim bait post above and how I want a realistic colored Paddle tail crappie swimbait. Also need to do my taxes and will be ordering one.
  14. I was a jail cop but one thing I did learn. "Probable cause". This is the term so many law enforcement officers love. Thats the grey area cops use to be dicks if you are a dick. Odds are most could careless to see your stupid fishing license. Since game wardens are at higher risk of being killed on the job and threat of budget cuts have to weigh on a warden quiet a bit. I cut them some slack.... in florida anyways.
  15. Doesnt bother me to much usually. To me its just a warning sign that this is a high traffic fishing spot and i need to find or make a better spot.
  16. Pretty chilly. I really have no good advice since I never fish water that cold. If I had to take a guess the fish werent liking what you were pitching.
  17. A finger hook like that I would probably wuss out and go for the anestesia too. Fingers have to many nerves. Had an xcalibur go in my arm a week or two ago. Pass the barb.... I just pulled it back out with no pain at all. It managed to stay under the skin though and didnt get into any muscle. Soon enough im sure ill peg myself again ill take a little video next time.
  18. Yeah it was a good story. Does he still feel the same about fishing?
  19. Not fishing for nothing now are ya!
  20. Ive seen people do stuff like that before. Considering Ive been fishing for my whole life and yesterday was the first time ever stopped and asked for my freshwater license. I do appreciate the fact FWL is out there but Ive seen to many people wasting fish like that. Here I am feeling bad when I get a hook set into the gills or throat and these guys dont even care if it dies or lives.
  21. Maybe play around with some cheaper ratl traps, KVDs, and Rapalas and when you feel comfortable get some more expensive ones. If I had to recomend any... Try an Xcalibur XR50 in pearl melon. Its one of my favorites.
  22. Went all day yesterday and it was pretty rough for most everyone I talked to. Catch of the day was 1.1lbs. Missed a piggy by not paying attention. Tossed out and went to light up a smoke when my line started swimming back towards me. Tightened it up and just as I went to set it it spit it out. Girlfriend got a good photo of me from behind with the sunset.
  23. Old scool folding tray large box. accessibility is the name of the game for me. I hate bags and the tray system.
  24. I have to admit I started to enjoy catching them aswell. Same with aligator gars. I had what looked lile a 7ft agar chasing my rattle trap up from the deep. Swear Its like the closest you can get to jurrassic park in real life.
  25. Today was a good day. I got a digital scale. Caught two fish 1.3 and 1.5 lbs. a 3.5lb pickerel and at a heavily fished area I went wading out from the shoreline to find a concrete burlap bag with a ton of tackle in it. 5 rattle traps 3 almost new, an umbrella rig, a rooster tail, a few worm hooks, and a lot more random hooks which I left down there.
