  1. Had an hour to spare during a business stop so hit up a spot to see who wanted to play. They were hammering a swimbait in one area. Caught 3 on back to back casts. Pickerel chewed it off soon after so a swimjig was next on the menu. Caught 4 more on that including a 6lb slob. Had to drag her up a 45 degree snowy muddy slope and my 12lb line broke.Wasn't going to let her slide back in so I slid down the hill almost falling in. She had a big pre-spawn buffet gut going on. Ended with 7 bass from 3lbs up to the big girl. My 3rd local bass over 5 so far this year.
  2. Nice hawg!
  3. You are correct about the ShareLunker program. I live in the wrong state...I need Florida strain girls that aren't over 700 miles from home.
  4. Yeah its pretty stout. Its a double hook if you haven't seen them.
  5. Nice chunky hawg. That's one determined bass to repeatedly hit it that many times.
  6. It was 2oz shy of 4lbs. Strangely it's the first catfish I caught from this lake and Iv'e fished it for years.
  7. The bite started off slow then moved to some shallow water and they were eating the swimbait like candy. Had atleast 12 blowup misses on Stanley. Some could have been pickerel and others seemed like 2lb ish bass. They were chomping the swimbait in less than 2 fow. Ended up with 7 bass in the 3-4 lb class. Did I mention I'm ready for full on topwater.
  8. Only could spare an hour to fish on Sunday and with the rainy conditions I had to put some miles on Stanley. Water temp was 50-52. Caught one on the frog, one missed and caught the rest on swimbaits. I'm ready for the consistent frog bite.
  9. Thanks everyone. The water temp that day was 58 but has fallen since. A stretch of lows in the 30's isn't helping much.
  10. Wednesday it was around 75 degrees here with a 70 degree day on Tuesday. Tuesday fishing was slow with one fish. Hit a different lake on Wednesday and action was much better. The swimbait bite was on and landed 16 bass 5 pickerel and a catfish. Caught my pb from this lake at 6lbs. The catfish weighed 4lbs but felt like something in the 10lb class.
  11. You were on the right lake. Wish you woulda snagged an 8+ but it'll be waiting for ya next time.
  12. Being in the native range isn't a concern if you base it on how big the Japan and Ca. bass are. Not gorging on trout like the Ca. fish has an effect. Iv'e caught some Fl bass in the 28'' range but like stated above a lot of big fish aren't documented due to the word getting out.
  13. Some guys were catching DD sight fishing in a central Fl lake last week.
  14. Congrats!. That lake looks familiar.
  15. How long until it has the potential for DD bass?..5 years? I don't know how big they are now.
  16. Sent you a PM.
  17. If that doesn't pan out I have contact info for guides on Lake Toho for a chance at a DD.
  18. 7.5lber on a 4 inch swimbait.
  19. Maybe it was covered in this conversation but introducing f1's in the lake in texas was a mistake due to the fact that northern strain genetics are dominant and over time will limit the potential of Florida strain genes.
  20. There was a claim here locally that an 11lb bass that measured 33'' was caught last year. So many red flags on that ordeal. The main one was the length..You know that bass would have looked like a barrcuda at that length.
  21. Nice tanks! You could guide on that lake.. I'd be interested if I make it out that way.
  22. I agree that there are many variables that need to happen . It may be covered in the video , haven't watched it yet, that big bass need crazy amounts of food just to maintain let alone grow. 10lbs of forage for 1 lb of weight gain is some theories Iv'e heard. I manage a small pond and know how much forage I need to make sure is available to try to grow big bass. Another private pond I fish is loaded with 1lbers. It wrote the book on stunted bass. 10 acres and depths up to 30ft with super clear water which is great but the forage ratio is out of whack.
  23. My PB in my avatar was caught in March. I'm planning on coming down this spring and chase some big girls. Good luck anyone fishing the Fl paradise and be safe. We're still mostly frozen up here.
  24. Went last year and will more than likely go to this one.
