  1. All the ponds in the northern portion of my state are frozen so I headed an hour and a half downstate to see if they wanted to chase some cranks. Water temp was 45-46. One thing I didn't bring and it bit me bad was a net. Within 30 minutes of each other I lost two 6+lbers trying to grab the lip without getting hammered with the trebles. They were not lethargic at all thrashing around the side of the boat. Should have done a few things different including boat flip em but didn't trust the line not breaking. Had a few 3lbers smack at the crank near the boat then swim off. Eventually after trying new areas managed to land three 4lbers before packing it up. Net will be in the boat next time.
  2. My wife was sitting in the car for a few minutes while I was fishing and when she saw that gator she said give me the car keys. I said thanks alot lol.
  3. Recently caught some nice ones in 42 degree water on shallow cranks.
  4. Butterball. Seems that record has been broken or attempted to be a couple times in the last couple years.
  5. Good deal. Go get him a lunker. The pic didn't show on my end.
  6. I'm slowing it down some compared to Summer time but not much. Keep at it and try some Mann's Minus 1's in shallow water.
  7. Get better and give Toho and Butler a shot in February or March. Let me know if you need some guide info.
  8. Thanks fellas. It was the Manns Minus 1 in Fire Tiger. Iv'e had good results with it in colder water with one of my biggest home state bass coming off one a few January's ago.
  9. Some of the smaller ponds here are probably going to freeze up in the next few days so I stopped at one of my spots to throw some cranks. Water temp was 40-42. Caught a 5lber on a Manns and lost one about 4 at the bank.
  10. This was a couple years ago fishing at a wildlife refuge south of Orlando while on vacation. She was eying me up across about a 75ft canal.
  11. Not sure but I was there on vaca fishing in October trying to find some of here relatives. All I caught was a dink. There were bigger bass caught that day and the ranger I talked to mentioned a 14lber caught there in the spring that had a similar dot. Who knows . It's hard to believe when you see how small that lake is that the famous monster came from there.
  12. Looks like you're all set to keep chasing those bronzebacks. I don't dig the cold but would be out hunting them down if they were worthy close to my area.
  13. I heard that also. This is about a 200 acre private lake that only homeowners or friends of are supposed to fish. Lucky for me I know a few people who live on the lake. There are some hawgs in there, not sure how big but 7-8's were caught a few years ago.
  14. Todays weather was forecasted as being the warmest in the next 15 days so I headed to a pond about an hour and a half south to see who wanted to play. Water temp got up to 52 which is warm enough for them to chase. Caught 5 over 3lbs and eventually lost that lure in a tree. Not ready for this winter stuff.
  15. Nice smallies as usual. Not sure about your area but here tomorrow is looking like the warmest day in almost the whole month of December. Go get some more of those chunks! I'll be out hunting the largies tomorrow.
  16. I know they consider bass an invasive species there but still has potential to put out a monster.
  17. If it's not frozen it's not too cold to fish.
  18. There are a few private well managed lakes in Texas with the intention of growing world records. If I read correctly they have reported a few males that were pushing DD or slightly above it. Some bass up to 16lbs have been caught and its still early in the management stage. We know everything has to fall into place like genetics etc.
  19. I was throwing jigs at first with no success then switched up to swimbaits in 20-25fow. Water temp of 46 was warmer than I thought it was going to be.
  20. Thanks guys. I traveled 6 hours and was determined to get some fishing in sometime between Monday and Tuesday. The wind on Monday would have made for an unbearable deal with 40mph gusts and not knowing how much lake effect snow was going to hit. Tuesdays wind wasn't too too bad later in the afternoon. There's not much smb fishing that's great in my immediate area.
  21. Not over yet. Just posted a report from upstate NY in the smb section .
  22. Nothing in the immediate La area but Casitas and Castaic are an hour or so north.
  23. It was a cold day with a temp of around 28 which was doable compared to blasting around 60mph from spot to spot. Was one of my best size and quantity days with my best 5 going around 22lbs. Two over 5 and about a dozen that were 3-4's. Caught a chunky but short largie also. Original day to fish was yesterday but 25mph with 40mph gusts wasn't happening .
  24. Figures the weather takes a nice drop right when I'm heading to upstate New York this weekend to hunt some bronzebacks.
  25. Would be real tough for me to pack it up with chunks like that lol.
