  1. Thanks . The biggest one choked it down big time. Topwater is the best.
  2. The last two days the Top Toad has been working well. Caught six bass between 4-6 lbs. Best open water frog Iv'e used.
  3. Stanley Top Toad has been killing them lately. One 6lber and two 5's two days in a row. Plus a few 4's. I'll make a post soon.
  4. They both have their place. In the slime and muck the hollow body works better for me and in open water the Stanley top toad has been a big producer.
  5. Let's see some hawgs. I'll be fishing 2 private Ca. lakes next month that produced well last year.
  6. I'm hoping to fish it in about a month when I head west. There are big bass in there from my sources. Time will tell.
  7. Buzzbaits, Frogs ( many different types), poppers, wakebaits.
  8. Wow. Can't complain about that. Keep at it and find that DD , maybe prespawn butterball or earlier.
  9. Alot of good info stated in the posts. I have a 10acre pond thats private with stunted fish but won't go full into details about it in this post. I also don't think crappie are good in a smaller pond due to competition. Pond Boss has several articles about this on their site. I have a 3/4 acre pond that I manage and you'll be surprised how well the bigger 4+ lb bass ignore lures. You could remove the smaller bass like mentioned and if you have a fishery local have them deliver a load of small bluegill. Not sure if you want to have any Florida strain bass in your northern pond due to the winter temps. I had that intention years ago but was advised not to.
  10. I stayed at Bahama Bay in Davenport this spring when I was in Fl. It's a few minutes south west of Orlando and has 2 ponds and a big lake on the property. There are tons of vacation rentals in the Orlando area with ponds close by or right out the window. If you get the chance fish Lake Toho, let me know if you need more info on guides etc.
  11. It was around 6pm. I had already caught 2 bass from that area an hour before and fished a few more spots further down the bank with no takers. Came back to the original spot and caught two more including the big one.
  12. That's a giant for my state. Keep at it throwing frogs etc. You live where the big ones lurk.
  13. Thanks. That's something I will check out. Usually bigger fish stay still on the scale (atleast for me) but she was full of spunk.
  14. Thanks. It's brutal fishing in mid 90's temps but nice when topwater is hitting and it pays off.
  15. Yes it can. Today I caught a 7lber on a frog in 90 degree weather.
  16. Sorry about the dirty fish, she jumped off the scale 6 or more times and was tough to get her in the water to rinse her off as I was by myself. I have been fishing a local pond that has thick hydrilla that almost reaches the surface in some areas. I was throwing a black Stanley Top Toad and she came busting thru the grass and hammered it. Knocked the frog body across the pond. It just about ties my PB on a frog. This is a 4lber caught today also ..shows the dense hydrilla you have to wrestle them out of.
  17. Yeah I think its $1500 a day for two people........It would be very tempting.
  18. He sells dd bass for a hefty price.
  19. I'm pretty sure that's the guy that has a fairly small pond with giant bass that you can either buy or pay to fish. Expensive guide trip but a possibility of a 15lber. Would be on my radar if I was in Texas.
  20. I agree about going to Florida and thinking 10lb bass are just going to jump on your hook. Putting time in and getting lucky once in a while helps. Big baits may catch big bass but not all the time. As some on here have mentioned before catching dd bass on small lures I caught 2 over 8lbs same day on 4'' senkos and the 10lber in the pic on a 4'' swimbait in Fl last year.
  21. ^^ I agree about the girth. It just doesn't show it being that thick.
  22. They work for me. Haven't fished a bunch of them the same day to see what they like best but a couple big ones fell for it at night time in several different ponds.
  23. Wish I could see a different angle that shows the girth. The 10.5 I caught in Fl this spring had a 20'' girth.
  24. Depends how far you want to go Lake Toho is a great choice for giant bass. Let me know if you need some guide info.
  25. There's no trout in the ponds where I have caught bass on trout pattern hudds. Heck in one pond they were eating a crankbait painted liKe the American flag.
