  1. I couldn't disagree more about some of the comments stating the profile of a frog will be the same as the profile of this sunfish. Yes, bass do everything of instincts, but a profile, especially a detailed sunfish profile will trigger that instinct. And sure, there are a ton of baits out there that we can say......ehhhhhh....kind of looks like all the others. True the majority of the time. But this brings something different, especially if the hook up ratio is good.
  2. SirSnookAlot, what is the new braid you switched to? Windtamer?
  3. As someone who uses both, I think there was probably something defective with the reel. I have had nothing but awesome results with my TP's. And I think that's the majority of what you will hear on these. I think the key is the lack of smoothness you are mentioning. To me that says something is wrong with the reel.
  4. Is that A-Jay's opinion......or the "others" ?
  5. Convince the viewer that tying knots is very very difficult, and really is an "art form".....and they are not an artist. So give up on knots... CHECK Convince the viewer I have discovered a way for them to bypass the "pain" of tying knots. CHECK Show the viewer the ease of "welding" the line with the line welder. CHECK Show the viewer the incredible end result...............................................................................................crickets.................................................did they just throw a slab of glue on the line? Cue a big ESPN "C'MON MAAAAAAANNNNNNN!!!!"
  6. The point that seems to always be missed in regard to the FG.....the knot is much slimmer than the others. And it goes through micro guides much easier. Debate all you want about the difficulty in tying it ( I agree it's more difficult than others), but that's not the reason I'm trying a new knot in the first place. The slim profile is the reason I'm giving it a shot. And to me that's worth taking the time to learn the dang thing.
  7. Spinning...yes......casting.....no On that note, my spinning setups are medium action with light braid. These already cast a mile as is. So, I don't see what application would require me to need a mile and and extra 10 yards.
  8. Power Pro. I've tried lesser brands, High Seas, Seaguar Kenshi, spiderwire, and PP is by far better than all of those. So at least go with Power Pro, and if you do any other brands, go to higher end stuff.
  9. If you have a Dicks Sporting Goods near you, go check this out. It's the Field and Stream Tec Lite, 6 ft, UL rod. It's green. I've fished panfish and ultralight for 30 years, tried so many different rods, some good, some bad. And this Tec Lite is hands down one of the best, if not the best. Perfect combo of backbone (for an ultralight), and flex to cast small jigs.....1/32, 1/16th, etc. I'm in the process of buying multiple....they are 49 bucks, so not dirt cheap for an UL, but I want to have nothing but these in the next year or so. I have an "arsenal" of 8 or so UL rods. I fish jigs for crappie ALOT....bream too. Oh, and fish this rod with light braid, and you would be surprised at how you can set the hook on bass.
  10. Tough day Nitro. I fished some grass on points, etc for the first hour of daylight, with nothing to show for it. Then spent the next few hours skipping wacky rigged senko's and shaky heads under docks. Nothing at all. Had my 6 year old boy with me, so I gave in and we hit bridge pilings for a bunch of little crappie the rest of the day. Got some swimming in too! Good day all in all. Surprised I didn't get bit at all with the dock fishing. We hit ALOT of docks.
  11. Not sure if you're wacky rigging it.....but if you do, it's killer for crappie. I stick them with a 1/16th oz jighead in the middle, and the crappie will hit it 4-5 times before it hits bottom in 10 feet of water. Seems like the crappie need to be at least 9 inches to consistently get the whole thing in their mouth though for a hook set. I just discovered using the 3 inch for crappie recently and I'm psyched about it. I've wacky rigged the bigger stick baits for a while and that's very effective too.
  12. I love you! .............okay, a little over the top...but a big thanks! I've been looking for a while now. I need to save overstock to my favorites...I always forget to look there. This is for crappie fishing by the way. These things are deadly wacky rigged on a 1/16th oz jighead. I've been using a three inch, and they will get hit multiple times on the drop over brush piles, but only the bigger crappie can eat the 3 inch.
  13. What are you looking to catch? If you're just looking for some good eating, fish double rigs with cut clam in the first trough from the beach. Many times this won't be but a few feet deep, but thats where the whiting are. Move around a little until you find them, but when you do, it's on. It's one of those see it to believe it type things, 12 inch bull whiting in shin deep water. It's what they are built to do though. The only time I catch them in the second trough is at a low tide....but on an incoming or high outgoing fish close.
  14. I'm looking for someone who makes 2 inch senko style stick baits. I've googled it and haven't found anything less than 3 inch sticks. Anyone know off hand of a company that sell the 2 inchers? Thanks!
  15. Anyone fished Anna lately? I'm going to head down there Friday. Planning on fishing above the splits. My game plan as of right now is docks, docks, and more docks.
  16. I have three Tournament Pro's, but bought a BB1 Pro around Christmas to compare it to the TP's. Even though it's really nice, from now on I would buy the TP over the BB1 Pro.
  17. That's a marketing ploy. There is no amount of force from bass fishing that you have to dig a rod but into your ribs or whatever. No I could see them being very useful for surf fishing with long rods and big fish.
  18. Power pro 20lb on medium action baitcast rods. Haven't even come close to bending a hook. Throw shallow running cranks and subsurface cranks all the time.

Get a pair of Kaenon Arlo's for 89 bucks. Normally 200 dollar glasses. I love em. http://www.leftlanesports.com/Product.aspx?l=00051191128500950000&p=KAE01298
  20. Only using your comment because you mentioned taking 6 months to learn a knot. If I'm going to take any significant length of time to learn one of these knots....it's going to be the FG. Simply because it is far and away the thinnest out of all of them. You can't beat that, and the fact if tied correctly, it won't break. I've been tying it for a few months, but still could be better at it.
  21. If the Res is off, you should get down to the Potomac. The fish are all over the shallows, and easy to catch right now. My son and I have been doing really well throwing over any submerged grass, on flats, but even on some slopes down to 10 feet at low tide. We're hitting it as much as possible while the getting is good. Tuesday we caught and released 16 fish before noon, and the 6 year old had 6 of those throwing a Skinny Dipper over the grass. They would just hammer it. Our best 5 went 13 lbs and change. Going back tomorrow

Just to preface this, I kind of stumbled upon this one. And I'm sure others have tried it. I've rigged one of the original Zipper worms, 5", with a biffle style jighead. Did really well on the bass the other day here on the Potomac. Swimming it through either hydrilla or coontail on the bottom The jighead gave it a subtle side to side action, and the fish were just flat out killing it. Small sample size, and just one day, but I'm going to be throwing it again in a few days. It was a pack of one of those plastics you have had stashed away for 15 years, and decided to bring em with you.
  23. Sorry for the late response. I have the high speed spin for 80ish. Got it for 65 on ebay this past winter. Great reel, and you will be happy with it. I went with the 3000 also, as it was a 0.1 ounce difference between the 3000 and 2500. But a bigger spool with the 3000.
