  1. I've been fishing the Supreme's and a Lews Tournament Speed Spool side by side for a few months. The Lews is a step down from the Gold in price, but it's an awesome reel. I'm not sure which I like better. They both are great. Light and smooth and alloy frames. So they should last a while.
  2. FYI, I bought this particular rod because I was looking for a MH, but saw that it had a moderate fast action even though it was Heavy. It fishes like a Medium Heavy. So taking a chance paide off.
  3. Got to try out my 7'4" Heavy/moderate fast football jighead Team Lews today. And the fish were eating too. I love the rod. Very light, love the action, and it handles the fish. I was throwing a biffle head with Rage Menace with it. Wish I would have bought two!
  4. Definitely post spawn. Could be the case.
  5. I was in Gander yesterday....they had the Laser's on sale for 60 bucks.
  6. Thanks for all help! I'll try to put some of it together. Probably going to try some other colors/brands of frogs, maybe some other types of topwaters.
  7. For what it's worth, I've been fishing with the Owner Z-Neck offset hooks (4/0) and weightless Strike King Cut-R, Fat Ika's, and Senko's, and haven't missed a fish in four trips. Kid you not, it's a first for me....even on a good day it seems like a bass or two will shake a hook. But I haven't had a single fish come unbottuned. 10 plus fish each trip. Hooks are always punctured all the way through wherever they stuck the fish. I'm sold on them.
  8. Both stores here in the Woodbridge and Springfield, VA areas have pretty much nothing on sale. They do have that rod and reel offer, but that's it.
  9. They have the microwave guides now. Pretty significant upgrade for a spinning rod.
  10. True statement. These fish are actually easy to catch on anything plastic.....especially a weightless SK Cut-R. It's not a catching issue....it's getting them to eat the dang frog for the Go Pro. First world problems....I know.....lol.
  11. I gotta try something different. When I switched from big frog to the junior, it was a green top/white belly to an all black frog. Maybe I should try some other colors, or trip the legs more like you said. For the retrieve, that's actually when they've been blowing up on it, on the pause.
  12. That's the problem....they aren't even making contact with it. There was no weight at all. I'm not even setting the hook. I'm somewhat familiar fishing with frogs, and I have the "let em take it" mentallity down. But like I said, they are just EXPLODING on the bait and entirely missing it. Every fish is missing it, so there is definitely a common reason for it. I've never seen anything like it honestly.
  13. I would love for someone to find a solution for my froggy problem. I've been fishing a small creek off the Potomac that is full of 2-4 lb bass. They are easy to catch with pretty much any soft plastic. Well, I've been starting off throwing a frog the past couple trips in hopes of getting some awesome GoPro blowups. I'm wading with the GoPro head mount (really cool video so far) Well, I get the blowups, but I'm not getting fish. These fish are exploding on the frog, but they are totally missing it. No weight whatsoever. And in hopes they would come back to it, I've tried everything I can think of.....leaving it still, moving it quickly as if it's scared. I've gone from a regular size frog to a junior size. Same results. It's hard to believe they are just not aggressive enough for frog action when you see the way they are blowing up on the frogs. In any case, if you have suggestions....please suggest! Thanks!
  14. I use it on 6 lb mono on my ultralight reels. It works well, but you need to let it soak in for a half hour or so. At least to get the best results. So I spray it on before I leave the house to go fishing.
  15. Are you right handed? If so, don't worry about the hooksets. Your right arm is stronger, and even though it may feel a little weird, before you know it your hook sets will take less effort becuse they will be with your dominant/stronger arm.
  16. Well said. Living a life above reproach is the way to go.
  17. I think alot of fisherman mistake a hit by a big bream as a missed bass. They will thump the heck out of a lure. No tap, tap, tap like the smaller bream. It's a kill shot. I only know this as I have fished A LOT of clear rivers and streams in my lifetime and have seen this many times.
  18. Shouldn't take too long. If you think about the high number of casts/retrieves you make in a day of fishing, it would probably be only a few trips before it starts becoming muscle memory.
  19. Not trying to put you on the spot, but where did you get your info that the LFS is made in China? I only ask because I was in Dicks spg today and they had the LFS speed spool on display. It had a Made in Korea sticker on it like the TP, BB2, and MB. I know, I know, it's just a sticker, but got me thinking.
  20. Wow...didn't know about the LFS series being made in China. Glad I asked the question. I think I may pick up a Tournament MG instead, either the new, or maybe the old. We'll see. Thanks!
  21. Totally agree. The new MB specs really may keep me from buying another Tourney Pro. I love them, but if they are offering pretty much the same thing for less, than it's hard to argue with that.
  22. Keep in mind the older version of the MB is still out there. It's heavier from what I understand. But, alot cheaper now as it gets phased out. They are on ebay for 80 bucks or so.
  23. I want to pull the trigger on another one from American Legacy, but my rod is still on the truck..... Out for delivery yesterday morning, and fedex couldn't get it to my doorstep. I want to put my hands on it before I get another. By any chance, has anyone compared that 7'3" extra heavy that's still available to the 7'9" Heavy Veritas? That would be the replacement. I have the Veritas for punching right now, but it's a huge rod, and wears on ya throughout the day. If that Lews XH was lighter, I would replace it in a heart beat.
  24. Yep, my rod just shipped a couple hours ago.
  25. I own several of the Tourney Pro's, so I'm very familiar with how they feel and fish. I'm probably going to buy a couple of the 99 buck ( 80 on Ebay)LFS speed spools to replace a couple Citica's. For those of you who have used both the Pro's and the basic LFS, what is the difference in feel and castability? I'm familiar with the mechanical diffrences..ie, handle, etc.
