  1. The reason your frog broke off during that backlash is because braid has 0 stretch. This means that when all that sudden pressure is put on the line, something has to give, wich would be the weak point in your line. The weak point could have been a place in your line, or the knot.
  2. Night fishing from the bank in the summertime is the way to go. More bass will be shallow at night because most types of baitfish feed shallow in the summertime at night, so the bass follow them and eat them. My favorite baits for night fishing are a black buzzbait, a black Colorado blade spinnerbait, a dark colored senko wacky rigged with a worm rattle, and a jig. With the jig I almost always have a rattle on it as well.
  3. My favorite is the wacky rig. I feel like all year long I catch fish.second favorite is top water. It's so much fun. Then come flipping, pitching, and punching...... Pigs My least favorite is deep cranking. I'm not very good at it yet so I don't catch as many fish usually my partner gets the school turned on then I catch them on a football head jig
  4. How hard are you setting the hook, and what is your line size. Sometimes you actually tear the fishes mouth by too hard of a hookset.
  5. do you throw a top water early morning? If so I would suggest throwing a wacky rig and if you fish the first hour with a 6 inch senko and don't get bit then I would put a three inch senko on and fish lt as slow as possible. The main thing is don't get frustrated, because when you do you're going to think about the problem instead of the solution.
  6. Personally I think that a pond should have some fish taken out of it. I have no facts behind that but there is a pond I go to maybe 3 or 4 times a year. it is a public pond, and a lot of people know its there. I have personally watched people take loads of nice bluegill out of this pond and I know that they are going to take what they can. however it hasn't seemed to hurt the bass population any. its about a 2 or 3 acre pond that no one wants to take a boat out on. but being the fisherman that I am I take a small john boat out there with my friend and we catch really nice bass. average bass there is probably 2.5 pounds if you fish for quality. I caught one off a bed last year that is on my display picture. I think that getting some of the panfish out is okay because they multiply a lot faster than bass do. if you think that the other people fishing the pond are keeping bass I would say run them off, but if they only catch the panfish then I would say let it be and if you start noticing a difference, then maybe you should say something.
  7. if I am flipping heavy vegetation I am using 65# braid. the reason for this is because braid cuts through vegetation great because of how thin it is. now for flipping heavy wood cover sometimes I use braid, but if I know that is where the fish are I am flipping with 25 pound 100% fluorocarbon the reason for this is that braid will actually cut into wood sometimes when you set the hook, so when you are fighting the fish it comes to that wood and gets hung up and can possibly get off. now for my rod I use a 7 foot 6 inch MH rod ( which is actually more like some heavy action rods that I have used) but its soft enough to make very accurate pitches and stout enough to get the fish out of there. always use a high speed reel because if you can get the fish out of cover faster, then it increases your chances of him not getting all wrapped up, plus from my experience, the faster you get that bait in the faster you can make another flip/pitch, so that equals more pitches throughout the day which can equate to more fish.
  8. Whenever I'm in need of a bite to get my confidence up, I go to my confidence baits. ill downsize from a jig or craw type bait to a senko or finesse worm Texas Rigged (smaller profile). ill slow down my presentation to a slow drag with maybe a few pops here and there. keep trying different things to get your odds up. A shakey head and drop shotting is another good way to hoax a fish into biting. But when I am getting skunked I will throw what I am confident in which is a 5 inch senko in watermelon red or junebug (wacky rigged of course) and when that still isn't working I will downsize my hook, line, and rod and put on a 3 inch senko and fish it as slow as the terrain lets me. im not going to say that ive never been skunked because I have, but its not very often. So: Be versatile let the fish tell you what they want change location, colors, baits, try things that you haven't before be confident because if its that tough of a day im sure that its tough on everyone there
  9. I'm from knott co but now work and live in Georgetown. I make trips to Cedar Creek and to some of my home lakes. I heard that Cave Run is pretty bad right now.
